LOCKER RAKS - They are a really fun idea. However, you must keep in mind that tens of thousands of people have access to the lounge and there are bound to be bad apples in the bunch. When you advertise something like that, you are trusting that every single person who sees your post is a good person who will do the right thing - and if your kids are involved in the RAK, then you are trusting those people not to let them down either. Yes, it SUCKS that there are slimy, gutless little weasels out there who would do that to a child, but that's what we're dealing with here. There are other ways to do RAKs in the park - including just randomly (that's what the R in RAK stands for, remember?) giving things away in the parks - not even necessarily to MWers - in fact, doing that is a great way to spread the word about the app, too. RAKs are primarily about the joy of giving - of brightening someone's day, just because.

Honestly, the locker RAKs aren't even RAKs, they're gift exchanges. You can't trust that ALL of the people who have access to MW, are going to participate in your gift exchange fairly. You take a big chance each time. Locker RAKs are tricky cuz like dfz said they're more exchanges. RAKs aren't about getting anything back so if your locker is empty at the end of the day, it sounds like a success to me. It is unfortunate if you were expecting something but it wasn't there when you got there. Possibly a change up in locker RAKs are in order...find out who's in the parks then randomly txt that person with the locker location and code. My hubby and I wanted to do RAK's when we go our next trip but seeing how the locker ones turn out I'd rather have people find us and give them something and get to meet MW'ers in return :) that sounds more fun anyway...plus just handing someone something when they don't expect it (non MW'ers ) sounds fun too cuz you get to see them be happy..sorry for those who's locker exchanges didn't turn out.. - cdeley  392.2 #340 8-27-11 2:30PM Like  Reply
