SO we often ask ourselves, why do we keep reading this app and why are we so "addicted" to it?? So we've all wonder onto this thing called the MW Lounge; a place where Disney fans come together to share their love for Disney. When I downloaded the app back in 2009, it was pretty small, consisting of about 20-40 people. There were no MW points or ranks, no profile pictures, and not even separate posts. It was just one long list of messages others would write (if you wanted to reply to someone, you had to use the [@] sign and say reply to 3 rows up). After a few months, I decided to join in for just the fun of it. Over the past months, you and I have seen MW grow technically and membership wise, but what has stayed strong are the friendships that are being made everyday. Personally for me, it is always fun and exciting to see others post about a meetup (ie: the nightly Astro Blasters meetup) to see the friendships that being made. When I hear about a group of MWers get together in the park, out of the park, or just come by to sing for me (thanks Dave), I always find it fun and fascinating that even though we all come from different backgrounds and lifestyles, we all have Disney in a special place in our life and we all met through this app for our phone!. When a new member comes on, most of the time they won't know anyone and aren't comfortable "chatting" with complete strangers online (I'm sure this has happen to all of us here), but we all share this love for Disney and the history, culture and magic it holds. In the past few months, I have had the fortunate opportunity that through my job, I've had the privileged to meet many, many, many MWers (I've lost an exact count) while being in the park. They are some of the nicest people I've ever met. They truly brighten my work day when I see a familiar face and get the opportunity to talk to them (I know, I work at DL, but us CMs do have our hard work days). It doesn't mean that in order to meet many MWers you have to become a CM, but there are many many other ways to do so. But when you do meet a MWer, there is this weird feeling that when meeting for the first time, you already know them because you already have this common friendship through the magic of Disney and the strong friendships made here on MW.
