The First Disneyland Weight Loss Program
719.0 #335 DL Qual #233 1-23-12 7:12AM
Hi Everyone! I'm feeling a little sluggish and icky after the holidays, and I was wondering if any of you have ever done a juice fast or a cleanse? Thoughts or recommendations? I'm not really wanting to do one to lose weight, specifically--just to flush out the toxins and energize me. I'm just thinking about something that lasts a couple of days...nothing long term. There's so much conflicting info on these things, so I thought I'd find out what you guys think. Thanks for any feedback :)
I thought I remeber Dr. Oz doing a episode about body cleases. But I forget if he concuded they were good or not. Might be google worthy. I personally have not tried this ever. I personally do not have the will power to keep it to only liqueds. But if you got the will power girl I say go for it. I will keep my eye out on this I see.  - BooEve123   800.9 #285 1-23-12 9:50AM Like  Reply
Thanks! Yeah, I think I remember Oz talking about it too. There's so much info on Google that I got overwhelmed, lol. Maybe I'll just buy a big jug of Naked juice or Odwalla juice and drink that for two days, lol. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  719.0 #335 1-23-12 10:11AM

Protein shake cleanse looks like a great, safe choice! Thanks, Boo :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  719.0 #335 1-23-12 10:20AM
I'm not disciplined enough. I need to bite something! Lol! - PrincessKristin   780.8 #299 1-24-12 8:01AM Like  Reply
Haha! Thanks anyway, guys :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar   719.0 #335 1-24-12 10:18AM Like  Reply
A friend of mine is an athletic trainer and she just did a 10 day juicing cleanse. She has a juicer, so she made her own fruit and vegetable blends. She felt great and said her body felt right and she had more energy. But I would consult a Dr before you do anything drastic. - Mimmy   1442.4 #150 1-24-12 2:23PM Like  Reply
We have the Vitamix juicer from Costco - best investment we ever made! You can put whole apples and pears in. And if you add some fresh spinach and berries, you can't even taste the spinach (not a big veggie lover). Juicing doesn't work well with my eating plan or work schedule right now, but I would highly recommend a Vitamix. Do NOT buy the Jack LaLane juicer. Way too messy and hard to clean. - PrincessKristin  780.8 #299 1-24-12 3:18PM
Thanks Mimmy! I used to be a trainer/coach :) I couldn't do 10 days! Wow! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  719.0 #335 1-24-12 5:36PM
My cousin did a 10-day cleanse also and he looked like he was feeling much better at the end of it... of course, he has a wife that made sure he had all the nutrients he needed going into that juicer (I often wonder if he even knew what he was drinking most of the time....) - Duchess73  347.3 #791 1-24-12 8:46PM
I have done a juice fast (had to for medical reasons) for 1 week. It is hard te first few days but by day 4 I felt great, had a lot of energy and the juices were yummy, even though they were green from the kale, spinach, etc. I stuck to 80% veggie and 20% fruit in each one. My favorite was kale, spinach, carrots, pineapple and orange. It's insane how much you have to buy to get enough juice out. Watch the documentary Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead on Netflix, really interesting! - LisaMouse7531   410.1 #636 1-24-12 8:35PM Like  Reply
Also you can start with replacing a meal or two with juice instead of absolutely no solid food. - LisaMouse7531  410.1 #636 1-24-12 8:37PM
Great info--thanks! I drink green superfood juices sometimes, so spinach and kale aren't turn offs for me, and I do have a juicer. Maybe just juicing for breakfast and eating cleaner is a good start for now. Thank you :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  719.0 #335 1-24-12 9:16PM
No problem! Good luck! - LisaMouse7531  410.1 #636 1-24-12 9:24PM
