Question: Does anyone know the history of the Disneyland churro? What was Walts reason for wanting to sell churros?....besides the fact that they super yummy. Sadly, if I were to eat one right now I would probably end up in the ER ='(
DL churros = WAKATELA!!!! 😝 - MozPrincess  577.4 #189 1-31-12 12:03AM Like(3)  Reply

Moz abuelita? are you talking about a place or the churro mix you can buy to make at home?... - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-31-12 12:56AM
My grandma makes churros from scratch and they are so YUMMY!!! When I go to meetups she usually sends me with a box!!! - MozPrincess  577.4 #189 1-31-12 8:00AM

I love champurrado!! - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-31-12 12:56AM
I have no idea what/who a champurrado is but it sounds like a chimichanga and now I'm hungry. Thanks. lol:) - Syrena  7.7 #7763 1-31-12 1:10AM
Champurrado is a thick creamy hot chocolate made with masa, piloncillo (Mexican brown sugar) and cinnamon. - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-31-12 1:13AM
Syrena, just think of it as a nice, thick, creamy hot chocolate with cinnamon. SO good with breakfast foods or tamales! - sarahpie  275.3 #775 1-31-12 1:14AM
holly jolly has Abuelita. Sadly it taste just like the regular hot chocolate with some cinnamon added to it :( - ninodj  198.2 #1656 1-31-12 9:20AM

That would be awesome!!! - MozPrincess  577.4 #189 1-31-12 9:03PM

My little dog sometimes covers his eyes like he's embarrassed. Poor bunny! - bluefairy  627.1 #174 1-30-12 10:40PM
I don't know about this bunny but my parent's bunnies do that when they did a Non-No. Like use the fireplace as their litter box. - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 10:44PM
I love your profile pic too. What a cute baby bunny. - BlackCanary86  40.9 #3967 1-31-12 12:06PM
Here is my take on Churros. DL needed something sweet and portable. Ice cream too messy and doughnuts get sticky fingers and It's super easy just warm em up toss some cinnamon sugar on them and sell for 350. I'm such a sucker for them too. That and the popcorn - angy17  164.8 #2086 1-30-12 10:58PM Like(1)  Reply
That would make complete sense good thinking! - akeleh  293.5 #653 1-30-12 11:12PM
I agree...but was it Walts idea? - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 11:21PM
No. - SorcererBHhaha  408.5 #318 1-31-12 12:02AM
I seriously doubt it... Seems like a newer favorite - SteamboatMinnie  309.8 #561 1-31-12 12:04AM
from the FB Disneyland Churro page, (yes, Disney Churros have their own FB page), Disneyland churros were first introduced at the Disneyland Magic Kingdom theme park in the summer of 1985 on a small cart in front of Videopolis (now known as the Fantasyland Theater). They were sold along with pretzels. - littleoysterz  210.4 #1485 1-31-12 1:17AM Like(1)  Reply
Oh videopolis...where my older sister would fall in love with boys from around the country and cry for them when they never wrote or call... - supertracy  435.6 #286 1-31-12 7:45AM

Pregnancy, bead eating habits, rapid weight loss and then another pregnancy resulted with me getting gall stones. =/ Whenever my gallbladder gets inflamed I can't eat anything spicy or fried. - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 10:46PM
That is no bueno!! Churros are a must have. - PinkElephants  636.7 #170 1-30-12 10:49PM
Exactly! Ugh. - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 10:56PM
Get your gall bladder removed, super easy surgery and I've never had problems since! - KelBelle  452.8 #271 1-30-12 11:10PM
I'm so freaked out ='( - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 11:19PM
KelBell how long was your recovery time? - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 11:20PM
I had mine out on a Friday and was back to school on Tuesday, it's really not too bad - KelBelle  452.8 #271 1-30-12 11:20PM
Still sore after that but I was able to do stuff pretty quickly! - KelBelle  452.8 #271 1-30-12 11:21PM
Hmmmm I'm going to look into it. My friend had hers out and spent 2 weeks in bed. Then it got infected and so in...yeah she freaked me out. - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 11:24PM
Yeah mine was done laproscopically (sp?) so it was outpatient, but if they have to open you up for some reason the recovery is worse.. But it's a small chance of that - KelBelle  452.8 #271 1-30-12 11:26PM
I get mine out on the 22nd. I'll let you know how it goes. Don't suffer too long! It can become a life threatening situation if your gall bladder gets infected. The doctor took one look at mine and didn't give me a choice. - Disneycrazymom  99.5 #3040 1-30-12 11:43PM
I'm going to make an appoiment like asap then. Last time I went I had the choice of just eating healthy or surgery. If I do need surgery it needs to be done before DL high season starts. - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 11:47PM
Disneycrazymom keep me updated. Right now the pain killer is finally kicking in. - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 11:49PM
I feel your pain @Uncool_me I had gallstones my whole pregnancy not the best thing was in the hospital all the time! i got it removed 2 months later. I was out of the hospital same day of surgery and was up and fine 2 days later it was super easy 4 little cuts on the stomach is all it took . Im not gonna lie, I was that 1% that ends up with gallstone on the bile-duck so i had to go back for a second procedure a week later but was still super easy and 2nd time was done with a tube no cuts! I say get it removed besides leaving it in can really hurt you and can cause problems later. - Jackie211  472.2 #255 1-31-12 12:13AM
I meant I got it removed 2 months after I gave birth. - Jackie211  472.2 #255 1-31-12 12:15AM
Ohh wow. I'm going to educate myself on the gallbladder removel procedure. Thank you all so much for your imput. Btw 2 months after labor!! Wow you're a strong woman little buddy :) - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-31-12 12:54AM
Meds* - Jackie211  472.2 #255 1-31-12 1:14AM
Two years ago we went to DL and were doing a 37th Anniversary for my wife and I and the rest of the family. I had been feeling really bad as in stomach problems. Checked into DL Hotel for 3 days. Went in the parks for a few hours. Needed to eat as I hadn't all day so only thing that sounded good was Clam Chowder. Big mistake. Went to my old Doctor in Orange and they admitted me in for emergency Gall Bladder removal the next morning. Everybody had a great ime at DL and the hotel but me. Recovery wasn't bad, but the trip back to Palm Springs was awful. No rich or creamy foods when you have gall bladder issues. - splashphotoCM  880.9 #101 1-31-12 12:27PM
The more important question is:  Why can't I find a quality turkey leg anywhere else I go?  Disneylands is at least a buck cheaper and always A-MAZING!! - TheBudd  357.3 #397 1-30-12 10:40PM Like  Reply
Ewwwwww!!! - PinkElephants  636.7 #170 1-30-12 10:44PM
What is wrong with you people? Nobody on MW likes the turkey legs? It's like a crazy melding of smoked ham and bbq turkey! It's a meat-eaters paradise! - TheBudd  357.3 #397 1-30-12 10:46PM
I was told they are good but to get the really burned ones. I haven't had one yet...maybe one day. - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 10:48PM
Just the smell of the makes me wanna hurl - PinkElephants  636.7 #170 1-30-12 10:50PM
for the last time, that is NOT turkey - missgoofy  367.8 #377 1-30-12 10:51PM
I've never had a burned one. Got one once, immediately had them exchange it. They are the best tho. I'll be sure to post of picture of one that I've eaten next time I go. It's not even gross looking, just looks like a freakin' bone that a vulture picked clean. They are seriously 98% edible meat. - TheBudd  357.3 #397 1-30-12 10:53PM
SPAM is also a crazy melding of ham and... stuff - cesium55  529.7 #216 1-30-12 10:53PM
Okay, missgoofy.. what is it then? because even if you tell me it's a babies leg, I'm still gonna eat it.. lol - TheBudd  357.3 #397 1-30-12 10:54PM
Please don't post a pic!!! - PinkElephants  636.7 #170 1-30-12 10:56PM
just for that, I'll post a video of me cleanin' one off in less than 4 minutes, and it will be DL related too because it's at the park.. hahaha j/k :P - TheBudd  357.3 #397 1-30-12 10:59PM
Thebudd.... That's just wrong buddy. A baby leg!? ='( - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 11:01PM
Oh Nooooo!! I gotta get to 200know fast so I can report it ;) - PinkElephants  636.7 #170 1-30-12 11:03PM
Heck yea.. "GET IN MEH BELLLAYYY" you know how it goes, lol - TheBudd  357.3 #397 1-30-12 11:03PM
I'm with you thebudd. One time my hubby got one and I was super disgusted but he made me try a bite and I became hooked! Super tasty!! - kritomiester  328.3 #482 1-30-12 11:14PM
I think everyone is the same way!!! I was terrified when my dad first bought one. It looked huge and smelled putrid! But a few years back I finally tried one. It's like their smoked with nicotine or something, I find myself lurking around my friends and family to eat the rest of theirs. - TheBudd  357.3 #397 1-30-12 11:23PM
I seen a family pack a loaf of bread and take afew Mayo and mustard packets from a near by restaurant and transform their turkey leg into a sammie by taking some meat from it. Good idea for anyone who has a hard time eating meat from a "turkey" bone bigger than your face and you don't have to look at the putrid looking flesh. :) Tastes yummy though. - Syrena  7.7 #7763 1-30-12 11:39PM
^ that's a great idea =) - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 11:50PM
if you think Turkey legs aren't real meat, you ain't seen nothin' yet.. *cough* school lunches and chicken mcnuggets *cough* - DonaldMissingPants  296.2 #632 1-31-12 12:08AM
I saw an episode of unwrapped on the food network of Disneyland food.. And the turkey leg is a turkey leg! And it's yummy!!! It's also on YouTube if u guys wanna confirm.. :) - yvetteissogoofy  162.1 #2124 1-31-12 12:03PM
That's a relief.. I was actually afraid some would tell me it really was baby leg.. lol, j/k. Thanks for the confirmation tho. It's nice to know it's not some processed piece of meat. - TheBudd  357.3 #397 1-31-12 12:17PM

Do you think it was someone else who brought churros to DL? - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 10:56PM
acording to Disney the Asian Culture brought over Strawberry Churros and eat them during New Years - Dave   8639.0 #2 1-30-12 11:23PM
Through thorough research (internet search) churros were introduced to DL in 1985. - SorcererBHhaha  408.5 #318 1-30-12 11:28PM
Uhh thanks - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-31-12 1:08AM
The Churros came to DL way after Walt passed. - splashphotoCM  880.9 #101 1-31-12 12:38PM
I KNEW iT! They aren't turkey... Okay yes.. I'm new... But I kept telling my sister that it was HaM and she kept saying turkey.... There is no way. - Minniesmama  4.0 #13481 1-30-12 10:54PM Like  Reply
lol. All I know is that they label it as turkey. But whenever I get one anywhere else, or try to make my own, it is lousy and I need a trip to DL afterward... - TheBudd  357.3 #397 1-30-12 10:57PM
Ahahah... I'm not sure WHAT it is. But it ain't turkey - PinkElephants  636.7 #170 1-30-12 10:58PM
Ham?... From what part of the pig? Pig legs don't look like big chicken legs. - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 11:00PM
I think they are smoked and smoking something gives it a different flavor. Similar to ham. - LaneSparrow316  846.9 #108 1-30-12 11:08PM
It's disgusting is what it is - AshleyLynn22  747.6 #136 1-30-12 11:25PM
I feel the same way about Dole Whip to be honest.. I detest pineapple. - TheBudd  357.3 #397 1-30-12 11:28PM
Oh I never said I would eat one. 😂 - LaneSparrow316  846.9 #108 1-30-12 11:29PM
Hahaha ever since I saw the picture of one of them in someone's pocket. I threw up a little 😷 and decided I'd never touch it. - AshleyLynn22  747.6 #136 1-30-12 11:32PM
Oh geez. That's no reason to find them disgusting. One time, I was working this dispatch job with I was younger, training this.. big guy (trying to be polite here). Anyway, it was about 2 hours til lunch, and he was starving. He says "Hey Budd, mind if I grab a quick bite to eat?" I tell him sure, cause it was slow. He doesn't get up, he doesn't hardly move. I just see his hand rifle around in his pants pocket real quick and out of it he pulls a Whopper. I just sat there slack-jawed in disbelief that this guy had been sitting there for nearly 2 hours with a darn hamburger IN HIS PANTS. Moral of the story: I still eat hamburgers. - TheBudd  357.3 #397 1-30-12 11:46PM
That's just wrong! Eew. - UncoolBunny  70.9 #3390 1-30-12 11:50PM

Do SoCal locals remember Wimseys (?sp)? They were a store that sold churros. It was something that was kinda popular back in the mid eighty's. - DisneylandDan  144.4 #2377 1-31-12 12:33AM Like  Reply
