QUESTION: Are there any MWers out there that visited Disneyland during the "Dapper" era? I would love to hear about your memories!!
I've been going since 1955. All I remember from the early years are from the pictures my parents took back then. People dressed nicely, some women wore dresses, but my mom wore nice slacks. Even up to the 1980s, they would scrutinize what you were wearing. My nephew once had security check his shirt because they thought it had something gang affiliated on it, they let him go in when my sister questioned them about the shirt. It was a cartoon character that had baggy pants on, my nephew was about 12 at the time. - Diznimom   225.1 #1642 2-5-12 11:46AM Like(5)  Reply
Call me old fashioned but I am quite surprised at what people wear in the parks today. I know that times have changed but I don't think wearing a midrif shirt and/or clothes with profanity or nudity is acceptable in the park! - EpicDio  460.2 #452 2-5-12 12:10PM

Everyday should be Dapper Days for us MWr's! - DiscoSteve   279.6 #1036 2-5-12 1:02PM Like(2)  Reply
In some way it is for my fam @Disco we don't do dresses/ties but I buy a whole wardrobe of new fits. I would never go to a restaurant where meals are $80 plus wearing rags why should we to Disneyland. Comfort is a factor but like EpicDio said some have gotten really unacceptable. - 559MickeyLover   334.6 #699 2-5-12 1:13PM Like(1)  Reply
Funny, I was just watching the opening day video on dvd the other night and thought about how people use to dress. Just like flying, ever watch Pan Am? Nobody seems to care anymore. But there are some people you wish Disney had fashion police to enforce what people are wearing, OMG it's scary sometimes! - DiscoSteve  279.6 #1036 2-5-12 2:08PM
Really! I especially notice now that I have teenage boys how very inappropriate these young girls dress! Ugh, some of their outfits look plain painful. - 559MickeyLover  334.6 #699 2-5-12 2:13PM
