I was thinking about the Turkey legs that are sold in the park. I see a lot of post where people are as grossed out as I am by them. I think they need to reserve a spot for the consumption of these barbaric treats. Much like the smoking sections in the park, there should be a spot where people could wear loin cloths, and sit around a fire and enjoy it properly and these people are not permitted out of said spot until they wash their hands thoroughly in front of a designated cast member.
I see a lot of turkey legs in the park but not the eatin kind :-/. - kss4tink   218.0 #1922 2-16-12 9:02PM Like(9)  Reply

I never tried one. They don't look to yummy. The WORST is when you are in a long line for a ride and there is someone close to you eating one! Yuck!  - LizO   471.1 #541 2-16-12 9:11PM Like(1)  Reply
Haha it seems I am always stuck in line behind or in front, of someone eating one. Ugh. People need to realize what a scary experience this can be for a vegetarian/germaphobe. - BambooMike  133.8 #3171 2-16-12 9:18PM
Perhaps DL isn't the place for you! Avoid germs where millions of people visit. 😜😊😊😂 - Romec123aKaSmartyPants  763.4 #310 2-16-12 9:29PM

You people definitely need to avoid us then. Nothing like passing the time in a long line with an iced tea and a turkey leg. - icephoenix25  235.0 #1697 2-16-12 9:39PM
They never looked appealing to me at all, but my son wanted one a few weeks ago. They are sooo good! - Melliott  301.2 #1046 2-16-12 9:42PM
where are we getting the ice tea? fresh brewed or from the macheeen? cuz i like iced tea - misschurro  10089.3 #12 2-16-12 10:42PM
Most of the restaurants have fresh brewed iced tea. :) - Mimmy  1442.4 #150 2-16-12 10:45PM
Actually the only place we've found iced tea inside DL is at the walk-up window at French Market. - icephoenix25  235.0 #1697 2-17-12 8:26AM
I've had iced tea at Jolly Holiday and Rancho del Zocalo and also at DCA. - Mimmy  1442.4 #150 2-17-12 10:20AM

It is turkey, that has been injected with a salt water cure (which is way it also gives off a flavor comparable to ham) and then slow smoked for 6 hours. They did a whole segment on it on Food Networks' Unwrapped - TheBudd  357.3 #762 2-17-12 10:19AM
and the size of the leg is contributed to the fact that it comes from a North American Turkey whose average size ranges from 50-60 lbs, male or female. - TheBudd  357.3 #762 2-17-12 10:20AM
Turkey Leg Segregation? Should you drink at separate water fountains after eating one? Gimme a break. 😏 - LaneSparrow316   847.0 #268 2-16-12 9:46PM Like(1)  Reply
This post made me laugh so hard! As the victim of a turkey leg incident (let's just say there was gnawing, sharing, and arms with grease drippings in extremely close proximity to me...), I fully support this proposition. Where do I sign?? - Mimmy   1442.4 #150 2-16-12 10:40PM Like(1)  Reply

They have Turkey Leg stands at Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights. The scent and visual of the turkey leg closely resembled one of the rooms in the Saw maze 😷 I never looked at turkey legs the same after getting out of there 😨😷 - rbeezy   703.0 #340 2-17-12 7:22AM Like(1)  Reply
lol. Ain't that the truth. Love HHN! - jacdanfan  15818.7 #5 2-17-12 8:28AM
First of all, I love the turkey legs. I find an out of the way table to enjoy it at and would never think of carrying it around to eat. Never eat anything in line. The first place we go after is to wash our hands. I wash my hands after a burger too. The first time i saw turkey legs at DL was in the 80's. Also, about a year ago they changed the recipe to remove the sodium and the ham taste. The chicken at Plaza Inn changed at the same time. It was quite salty before. So, don't blame the turkey leg, blame the eater if you don't like the way it looks!!!! - Stumickey   294.6 #1087 2-17-12 11:55AM Like(1)  Reply
What?!?!?! They removed the ham taste???? That was my favorite part of the turkey leg. Darn you turkey that now tastes like turkey. - LittleAprilShowers  589.3 #407 2-17-12 12:25PM

There is a designated area! Naturally its the nice shaded area next to the smoking section where they are sold. - TheBudd   357.3 #762 2-16-12 10:48PM Like  Reply
This is genius. They really should keep them all together. At least stay out of the lines with them, please oh please!! 😷😷😷 - Sweet_Irish_Cream  4410.2 #43 2-16-12 11:11PM
@SIC I agree... nothing worse than the greasy shooters on Midway Mania... Id wear latex gloves on that attraction if it was socially acceptable... 😷 - BambooMike  133.8 #3171 2-16-12 11:20PM
Ewww, I didn't even think about that. Good thing I carry antibacterial. It's the smell that kills me. I've gotten good at holding my breath because of those Flinstone wannabes. And I LOVE meat! - Sweet_Irish_Cream  4410.2 #43 2-16-12 11:23PM

I once saw a family in DCA chompin down on a whole mess of legs. One of the girls took the mangled bone to the trash can, pushes the trash door open, spots a few more shreds of edible flesh and pulls her now dirty trash hand back to pick the carcass clean. My stomach turned. - DuffysJuju   634.0 #376 2-17-12 7:06AM Like  Reply
Seems everyone has a horror story about theses legs... I have seen people lay their half eaten bird legs, on the arm rest of the benches surrounding the Matterhorn... - BambooMike  133.8 #3171 2-17-12 10:21AM
After I found out those things had about a whole day's worth of calories 2 day's worth of sodium, I don't buy them anymore because usually its only my mother and I that eat it all. We go for chimichangas, though only when we are in a group and we can share them. - MissAlice   343.5 #804 2-17-12 7:12AM Like  Reply
How did Turkey legs even get started at the park? - PrincessLeia   312.9 #970 2-17-12 7:12AM Like  Reply
Originally, I believe, they were for some Festival, way back when Hunchback of Notre Dame came out and was the big Disney cartoon. That's the first I ever remember seeing them. - TheBudd  357.3 #762 2-17-12 10:16AM

I prefer the Bengal BBQ, but I consume my food in a semi-quiet spot--not in line within inches of other people, lol. - Spoonful_O_Sugar   719.6 #334 2-17-12 7:25AM Like  Reply
I find that people like to stare at me while I eat, so I avoid eating within inches of other people like you said.. especially in lines LOL - rbeezy  703.0 #340 2-17-12 7:29AM
I have to agree, eating a meal in line is gross. I tend to carry fruit snacks and small items like that to munch on, but that's all. I have never had a turkey leg though...I kind of want to try one just so I look like a Barbarian! - MortiMouse   118.8 #3442 2-17-12 10:24AM Like  Reply
