The First Disneyland Weight Loss Program
760.1 #313 DL Qual #478 2-28-12 12:50PM
Ok it's the end of week 4 with WW and I'm 3 lbs lighter. When I entered my weight into the tracker it told me I was losing to fast. What the heck I'm just following the program. Any advise???
I've gotten that message a few times as well, I do WW online. Just make sure you are meeting your daily points and you'll be fine. I think inthe beginning you see big numbers, especially if the portions are a lot smaller than before the program. Congratulations! - LisaMouse7531   410.1 #641 2-28-12 1:14PM Like  Reply
Sounds like your losing at the right pace. I wouldn't worry about what it says. Keep up the excellent work! - NingyMouse   378.4 #705 2-29-12 6:23AM Like  Reply
Just so you know on WW they say "healthy: weight lose is .5 to 2 a week. I have also gotten that message on weeks that I lose more. No worries but just so you know they consider that not healthy for whatever reason. Are you getting in all your oils and all your dairys EVER single day. I guesse they feel that drastic weight lose all at once will not teach you the life style changes you need to make for life sorta thing. But keep it up there are week I lose 4 even 5 then I lose none lol it is how the body works  - BooEve123   800.9 #291 3-2-12 10:31AM Like  Reply
One other reason why 2 pounds is the max on WW is because losing more than that can be extremely hard on your organs if you're not constantly being monitored by your physician. It's not just a WW thing, either--most diets that are rooted in nutrition and physiology follow this guideline for the safety of the people following the diet. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  724.6 #334 3-2-12 11:40AM
I'm following the program but I very seldom use any of my weekly points. I'm eating more fruits and veggies then I have in years. My energy level is great and I walk about 3 miles a day. I will be careful cuz I'm trying to improve my health not make it worse. - Missymoo  760.1 #313 3-3-12 6:15PM
@spoonful, would you know what affects the organs with extreme weightloss? or with more than 2 lbs a week? - NingyMouse   378.4 #705 3-3-12 12:27AM Like  Reply
Well, when you lose weight this quickly, it generally means that you're restricting calories, and therefore, not consuming essential fats, vitamins, and nutrients. Healthy fats are especially important to keep the digestive system functioning properly--all kinds of issues arise if you're battling problems with constipation. Also, one of the biggest problems with rapid weightloss can be gallstones because the liver will secrete extra bile and the gallbladder won't empty properly. And then, obviously with extreme, long term caloric deficiencies, you can put your heart in danger. Also, when you lose more than 2 pounds/week, it's likely that you're losing muscle mass, rather than fat. That will cause your energy levels to deplete. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  724.6 #334 3-3-12 7:08AM
I just want to say that it's generally nothing to worry about if you lose more than 2 pounds/week every once in awhile, especially at the beginning or if you're just losing 2.5 or 3 pounds. However, it's dangerous for any length of time if you're not being closely monitored by a physician. Some physicians will recommend extreme dieting or even surgery in extreme cases if the benefits of rapid weightloss outweigh the risks of obesity. My mother-in-law is on a very low-cal diet, but she's on a program with Kaiser and goes in for meetings with a doctor, EKGs and has her blood drawn for testing regularly. - Spoonful_O_Sugar   724.6 #334 3-3-12 7:16AM Like  Reply
