I joined WW today (online) and so far I'm totally confused with the whole point tracker thing. So if I like eat a p'nut butter sandwich on one of those 100 calorie thins, I've got to enter the info from the bread, p'nut butter and s/f jam? Tell me this isn't as hard as it seems!! I love the fact that I can eat all kinds of things (bought my Special K cereal and stuff like that), but this tracking thing is making me crazy... or am I over thinking it? Gia - I noticed that you just joined again... are you a wiz at this?
I love the tracking...even though sometimes I do have to add all the ingredients! When I first joined it wasn't points, but you had to write...yes, WRITE....down everything! So a few extra tracking of items is okay by me! Make sure you save them as favorites. It will help! - Gia  785.6 #121 4-16-12 10:44PM Like  Reply
So if you have a salad - you need to measure everything?  I've never done this before.  I know it seems good as far as educating yourself what you eat, but it seems totally overwhelming to me right now!  Any tips?  Do you enter things as you eat it, or at the end of the day (oh wait - then you wouldn't know how many points you have left).  This seems hard... - msdizmaui  519.0 #223 4-17-12 1:39AM Like  Reply
Yeah, it's like keeping a food journal--every bite gets counted.  It's tedious, but instead of counting calories, fat, fiber, and protein, you only have one number to remember.  I always write things down as soon as possible after I eat, that way, I don't forget.  But, the upside is that nothing is off-limits.  After a week or so, it gets easier because you start to fall into a rhythm and just memorize the points values for your favorite foods like the peanut butter sandwich and salad.  - Spoonful_O_Sugar  436.3 #285 4-17-12 7:05AM Like  Reply
When I would get home from the grocery store I would use the point calculator on the app and a sharpie and mark up everything as I put it away. That way when I'm eating it's easier to tally them all up. It is a lot of work for the first few weeks but once you build up your favorites it's a cinch and you start to know the points of things and how they can fit into your day. Just think that it's a lot of work for your health but that you are worth it! - LisaMouse7531  409.1 #318 4-17-12 7:26AM Like  Reply

So you don't need to enter the food...just the points (if you know them)? I bought a million boxes of SBD meal bars (which I still intend to eat), so once I enter all the stuff and get the point value, I can just enter the points somewhere? TBH, I'm still struggling with the website! I know everyone loves it, so I'll just hang in there! - msdizmaui  519.0 #223 4-17-12 1:28PM
Yes you will have to calculate the points and once you know them you can add the item so next time you have one you search by the items name and add it or just use quick add and type in the point value and a name. Feel free to DM me If you have any questions about it! Good luck! - LisaMouse7531  409.1 #318 4-17-12 8:50PM
Remember that with veggies, you are unlimited so there really is no need to measure when you make a salad. Check out the cheat sheet for sizing of portions...really helpful! After awhile, you can just "eye" your portions and you'll know what it is. Hang in there! - Gia  785.6 #121 4-17-12 10:21AM Like  Reply
On the tracker, go to "quick add". You can create your favorite meals without adding each ingredient. You'll need to figure out the points first but it's an easy way to log them in. And I try to enter after I eat so I know what's left. - Gia  785.6 #121 4-17-12 10:25AM
Would you mind flying to Maui to give me a lesson...lol...I'm so confused!  So if I use Quick Add, I still need to calculate stuff the first time (to get the point value), right?  Also, do you not have to track anything on the "Power Point" list?  I get most of the stuff, but then there's lattes?  Even with low-fat milk, they still have calories?   - msdizmaui  519.0 #223 4-17-12 2:03PM Like  Reply
Another weird (irritating) thing. Whenever I type anything in the tracker section, I get double letters...i.e. "mmiillkk". I have to backspace everything - takes me forever to type one thing! Wrote to Tech Support for that! - msdizmaui  519.0 #223 4-17-12 2:04PM
Yes, lattes still have calories, lol. A cup of nonfat milk has 90-100 calories, so it can add up! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  436.3 #285 4-17-12 3:13PM
I just joined 3 weeks ago. I normally plan my meals for two or three days and enter them in, or just enter it in as I eat. If I know I'm going out for dinner I know to eat a breakfast low in points...etc. You are able to save your favorite foods like Gia mentioned, so for example I go to Chipotle a lot, instead of entering every ingredient I just had to enter it once and made it a 'meal' so everytime I go I know that my dinner will be 10pts.Yes it is tedious to enter EVERY ingredient but when you start seeing results, it's worth it! - JenInWonderland  1025.1 #86 4-17-12 5:33PM Like  Reply
Also I've been making meals from the WW website since they already have the points counted for you, easier than trying to enter every ingredient. - JenInWonderland  1025.1 #86 4-17-12 5:38PM
I've got all three apps on my Android.  I love the WW Bar Scanner... but does anyone know how to put the saved items on that app - onto the main app so I can show them as "Favorites"?  The points "transfer" over when I "track" the items I've scanned, but I don't know how to get them in the "Favorite" list. - msdizmaui  519.0 #223 4-19-12 12:11AM Like  Reply
Once you've tracked an item 3 times it asks you if you want it in your favorites. I use "recently added" until then. - Gia  785.6 #121 4-19-12 11:12AM
