Hello MW have a question ? Has anyone ever experienced a Earthquake while on a ride at the park? I was just on Pirates of the caribbean and was thinking what if ..., let us know if you have experienced anything ?
Are you asking cause of the little earthquake earlier today?? - RickChavez2188.2 #30 4-23-12 7:46PMLike(1) Reply
I haven't thought of that yet but looks like I might now lol - RickChavez 2188.2 #30 4-23-12 7:47PM
I'd be interested to hear from CMs about this topic. I've always wondered how the attractions that were built prior to 1970's were "proofed" for this sort of thing. I'm sure it is mandated as a building code. - Alicewhoareyou 536.3 #210 4-23-12 7:50PM
I've been at work (dland) during a earthquake. It was a interesting experience. Not many people felt it. - Froggyfriends243.4 #1067 4-23-12 7:46PMLike Reply
We were at DL once when there was earthquake. We were on Astro Blasters and didn't feel a thing but upon exiting the ride we heard about it and they had temporarily shut down most of the rides in Tomorrowland. Only for like 15 to 20 minutes though. - Aquata292.2 #659 4-23-12 7:57PMLike Reply
We were on the then mulholland madness when a small quake happened. We finished the ride but it closed along with the other attraction till they were clear and deemed safe. - Plumiegirl 3345.9 #10 4-23-12 8:52PM
I was on Star Tours during an earthquake years ago -- my Dad and I exited and went to go on some other attractions and they were all closed because they had to check everything for safety. :( While I understand why they were doing it, it was such a bummer because everything was closed for the rest of the night and it was our last night! - BreadAndButterfly505.3 #234 4-23-12 8:00PMLike Reply
Its funny that you ask this question because I always think that when Im in Space Mountain. I always ask this question and my BF always laughs at me. I dont think Space Mountain, Screamin, or WOD are good rides to be while during an earthquake. But Im pretty sure they are built to outstand a big earthquake.. or so I hope... - MagicalLand378.4 #358 4-23-12 8:15PMLike Reply
I would say everything is earthquake-safe. If we have a measurable earthquake we cycle out and wait for facilities to check everything out. It's very frustrating for guests and cast alike. - plaidtink315.5 #542 4-23-12 8:39PMLike Reply
I haven't personally, but as CMs, we're all trained for emergencies. Its part of our basic training. For attractions though, it may take a little time, but the attraction CMs have to pass an emergency evacuation before they are even signed off to work the attraction - BaseballMickey_CM2859.4 #16 4-23-12 8:42PMLike Reply
I have never thought about that before...I grew up in CA and experienced many earthquakes but never once at DL or even thought about one at DL...I think I go into the whole mindset that nothing bad happens there...kind of childish I guess but I just don't think bad thoughts while I'm there.....I will now ;) lol j/k - cdeley393.0 #342 4-23-12 8:49PMLike Reply
In attractions, we are also consistently quizzed and updated on earthquake procedures. - plaidtink315.5 #542 4-23-12 8:56PMLike Reply
