✨Brainstorm time! ✨ What are you all going to cut back on in order to save the extra money to purchase your APs this year? 😊
Well how important is toilet paper? - Villescas8   600.8 #283 5-18-12 9:31PM Like(3)  Reply
πŸ˜œπŸ˜‚πŸ’© - Spoonful_O_Sugar  521.4 #335 5-18-12 9:36PM
I may have to pick up some extra napkins each time I visit the parks between now and renewal time - Villescas8  600.8 #283 5-18-12 9:40PM
Lol πŸ˜‚ - Spoonful_O_Sugar  521.4 #335 5-18-12 9:42PM
brown paper towels are rather nice - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  3914.7 #23 5-18-12 9:48PM
I've already been saving for our October trip. I am self employed and I pay myself the same amount every two weeks. Sometimes I cheat, though, so no more of that...less online shopping for things like plush Peter Pans. πŸ˜‰ Now that I see that hoppers are going up, too, it is still a savings to get a pass for two trips per year. It's just crazy expensive. - PeachKay  311.1 #733 5-18-12 9:49PM
Haha PK good old Peter pan making a comeback from yesterday - Villescas8  600.8 #283 5-18-12 9:51PM
And churro, sorry brown paper towels are a little too rough - Villescas8  600.8 #283 5-18-12 9:52PM
keep folding. it'll soften it. or you COULD make the recycled type from old rags. wash, rinse, repeat. saw a lady on TLC do this. Plz use dark fabric - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  3914.7 #23 5-18-12 9:58PM
True I forgot about the crumple up technique πŸ˜‚ - Villescas8  600.8 #283 5-18-12 10:02PM
Villeacas, positively! πŸ˜‰ You know, the DL toilet paper is so rough, the paper towels won't be that bad! - PeachKay  311.1 #733 5-18-12 10:05PM
Sorry, I tried so hard to spell it right...Villescas!! Stupid iPhone. - PeachKay  311.1 #733 5-18-12 10:08PM
V8 is easier :) i'm hmacif - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  3914.7 #23 5-18-12 10:10PM
It's ok PeachKay, as HMACIF said, V8 is cool - Villescas8  600.8 #283 5-18-12 10:16PM
((hits head)) I could have had a V8! πŸ˜ƒ - PeachKay  311.1 #733 5-18-12 10:19PM
Haha, yeah and I hate the v8 drink, but the nickname stuck - Villescas8  600.8 #283 5-18-12 10:23PM
I hate it, too! Unless it is just tomato juice. With vodka. And Tabasco and a stick of celery. :) - PeachKay  311.1 #733 5-18-12 10:27PM
Lol, I like V8--just bought a big bottle from Trader Joe's today πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ - Spoonful_O_Sugar  521.4 #335 5-18-12 10:30PM
Leaves are free. πŸƒπŸ‚πŸ - cesium55  531.6 #326 5-18-12 10:32PM
πŸ‚πŸ‚πŸ may be to itchy - Villescas8  600.8 #283 5-18-12 11:02PM
My son is going to India in three weeks, and they do not use toilet paper - they use their left hand. So it is a big no-no to eat (or shake hands, etc) with your left hand. - PrincessKristin  780.2 #196 5-18-12 11:09PM
oh dear. * note to self...that is ICK* sooo, what if you are lefty?? - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  3914.7 #23 5-19-12 7:10PM
LOL!! I've got until October so... I have been meaning to eat out less and not have as much Starbucks (did you hear they're opening one at DCA?!?!), so that might help. - Mimmy   1442.3 #85 5-18-12 9:32PM Like(1)  Reply
Lol, ours expire in a few days. Sad! We really can't renew right now, and we probably won't be able to get away for any length of time this sunmer, so we're just going to save what we can over the summer and renew in the fall. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  521.4 #335 5-18-12 9:39PM
WHAT?!?? A Starbucks in DCA??!? How come I haven't heard about this?? - DisneyFanZoe  1106.9 #128 5-22-12 11:33AM
I will probably cut back on my Starbucks 😜 and other frivolous purchases in my daily life. During our trips, we will be buying way less souvenirs (aka vinylmations) and expensive meals and drinks; we might even be driving our smaller, less comfortable and less reliable 😱 (but more fuel efficient) car to get there, and we will definitely be lowering the standards on our hotels. Super 8, here we come! We haven't used our passes much this year, compared to previous years, but we did visit enough to make them worthwhile. I love DL, and I can find ways to sacrifice in order to keep my pass and know that if we are able to slip away for a weekend, we can. - Spoonful_O_Sugar   521.4 #335 5-18-12 9:35PM Like  Reply
I will probably stop buying food in the parks. I'm just gonna put a feeding tube in my side, and blend up hot pockets, middle ramen (Top Ramen is to rich for my blood) and spaghetti o's. I will pre portion the concoction out of the blender and shoot it in through the tube throughout the day. - Ricko19   818.1 #182 5-18-12 9:39PM Like  Reply
Lol. Yummy! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  521.4 #335 5-18-12 9:40PM
well there goes my appetite. Lol - KylaShea  626.1 #265 5-18-12 9:53PM
I would love to get an AP again...will definitely take some more budgeting though! Disney is so worth it IMO! ✨ - MinnieMousewife   735.1 #211 5-18-12 9:40PM Like  Reply
That's how I feel too😊 I'll pay the money--might have to get a Deluxe, but that's ok. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  521.4 #335 5-18-12 9:42PM
Yes, I agree...will have to be Deluxe for us too! Hopefully this summer! Fingers crossed! 😊 - MinnieMousewife  735.1 #211 5-18-12 9:49PM
βœ¨πŸ€βœ¨ - Spoonful_O_Sugar  521.4 #335 5-18-12 9:51PM
But one person needs the premium for the parking - Villescas8  600.8 #283 5-18-12 10:01PM
Yeah, haven't decided what we're gonna do. If we're cutting back on souvenirs and food, the Premium discount won't help a great deal, anyway. We could just add parking to the Deluxe or get one Premium. Hubby says we should just suck it up and get two Premiums, lol. πŸ˜‚ - Spoonful_O_Sugar  521.4 #335 5-18-12 10:12PM
Cut back on eating at the parks n bring lil lunch .for us to renew next Feb it will be $5,200 for the 8 of us ugh but we will pay it - Tinky76   318.8 #703 5-18-12 10:05PM Like  Reply

We haveΒ a Disney Visa that you earn points. We pay the balance every month and don't carry anything on it so we don't get charged interest. We are going to make even more of an effort to use it for anything and everything to bank as many points as we can. After that...Um..there is now 5 of us as my youngest turns 3 next month so it's going to cost us a ton. But, I did the math and it's still only a little less then 5 trips when you take the price of 5 1 day parkhoppers and parking for those trips. We always go more than 5 trips a year so it's worth it for me and my sanity to renew. Thankful that I could renew today for next year so we don't ave to worry about it until next year. - Autoalice   157.3 #2444 5-18-12 10:17PM Like  Reply
πŸ‘† this is why I'm not worried about it. Plus I think of monthly payments as a one day ticket each month. That ticket is still less then an actual ticket each. Plus I average 4 trips a month. - KissDclown  1089.2 #132 5-18-12 10:21PM
Yeah, I think for the payment plan, it's only another $40 per month for me and my husband. We can easily do that. I need to eat out less, anyway, lol. - Spoonful_O_Sugar  521.4 #335 5-18-12 10:28PM
The thing that bothers me is the percentage increase. If you showed up at the gas station tomorrow and prices were 30% higher, you'd be pretty ticked. In fact, I can't think of anything that increases that much all at once. - Mimmy  1442.3 #85 5-18-12 10:34PM
I wish they would let non-California residents do the payment plan. 😒 - PeachKay  311.1 #733 5-18-12 10:42PM
If i continue to travel down 4 times a year it's still cost effective for me to buy two annual passes, so lookin over stuff if I stop eating lunch out everyday and actually eat a healthy sandwhich its still doable thankfully! - madsdad   1800.8 #66 5-18-12 10:38PM Like  Reply
Yeah...we need to eat out less also but you have a good point that it will be healthier too! πŸ‘ - MinnieMousewife  735.1 #211 5-18-12 10:41PM
My lunch bill is ridiculous, it'll be nice to put it towards soemthing better! - madsdad  1800.8 #66 5-18-12 10:46PM
Ok nick if I send you a few bucks for lunch will you cover my AP? - Villescas8  600.8 #283 5-18-12 10:47PM
Ha anything for you buddy! - madsdad  1800.8 #66 5-18-12 10:56PM

Here are a few of my frugal tips: Buy things only on sale and use coupons. The receipt usually has how much is saved. Take that money saved and put it in the Disney jar. I saved $44 on groceries last week. I thrift shop for clothing. I walk more than I drive. I take my breakfast, lunch, and snacks to work (12 hours). Drink more filtered water, no bottled water, add a slice of lemon. No Starbucks except 1time per year(pumpkin spice latte on Halloween). Make my coffee at home. Lots more, but those are some of my best and easiest. - Sugarbuzz   133.6 #2801 5-22-12 11:29AM Like  Reply
great ideas--I especially like the idea of taking your grocery savings and putting it in a jar! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  521.4 #335 5-22-12 11:36AM
No longer feeding our three children. (ok-ok, they don't live with us) - alankeno   57.8 #4096 5-22-12 11:41AM Like  Reply
I'm only going to eat 10 churros a month instead of 12. That should make up for the price difference. - ScubaSteve028   835.5 #177 5-22-12 11:49AM Like  Reply
