A dear friend of mine had a small stroke yesterday at the age of 41! He knew he was having a stroke, but he did not go to the hospital until the next day! PLEASE - if you ever even THINK you might be having a stroke (signs are SUDDEN numbness, weakness, trouble walking/talking/or seeing, sudden severe headache with no known cause) call 911 immediately, and NOTE the time your symptoms began. Timely treatment is CRUCIAL - clot busters can be given but it must be within 3 hours. Even if your symptoms go away, a mini-stroke can be a warning sign of a major stroke, and you must monitored, assessed and treated to prevent further damage. Just an FYI in case you or someone you know experiences these symptoms - don't wait, call 911 immediately.
Hope your friend recovers - E-Ticket  772.1 #128 7-11-12 8:06AM Like  Reply
He is still having a little weakness on one side and some trouble word-finding, but will likely regain all function. But he now has a higher percentage of having a major stroke. - PrincessKristin  774.5 #126 7-11-12 8:08AM
