#19. MW101 w/SICπŸ€:: {Tips for hot Summer days!} As a good family friend of ours would say, "It's been Africa hot" lately! And you are out running around the parks all distracted by the magic and what you're going to do next, before you know it hours have gone by and things like dehydration can creep up on you, and before you know it you are being wheeled off from the RSR line after already putting in two hours. It's important to stay smart and aware while enjoying your day at DL. πŸ”΄As always you can easily check the weather for the resort easily on your phone with MW, by clicking the weather bar on the dashboard, so you can plan for your trip or just the day. πŸ“.....Since I know we have a lot of great tips from our frequent park goers, please share below with others your favorite ways to beat the heat at the resort! Thank you!!πŸ˜ƒ

Another tip is that if you go to any QSR (Quick Service Restaurant), and ask nicely, they'll give you a cup of cold water (good for refilling water bottles). Also, places like Pizza Port and Rancho Del Zocalo offer free water on tap.  - BaseballMickey   9350.7 #14 7-12-12 3:27PM Like(7)  Reply

I also bring packets of Emergen C to add to my water--they give your immune system a boost, contain B vitamins for energy, and have electrolytes. Plus, I live in an area that has really good tap water, and even when I get filtered water in SoCal, I gag a little, lol, so a packet of emergency once a day masks the taste of at least one of my water servings. :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar   724.6 #334 7-14-12 3:30PM Like(1)  Reply

I freeze water bottles and take them to the park. I have a stroller and keep them down on the bottom. Cold water all day. Plus you could refill at some spots at the park. - adventurerEnDisneylandia {AED}   1217.1 #182 7-12-12 3:26PM Like  Reply
Frezzing them is a great tip! Thank you! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘ - Sweet_Irish_Cream  4412.1 #43 7-12-12 3:35PM

Haha. Well Northern Ireland. Technically since its part of the UK it would be considered British. It's my passport as well. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸ˜Š - Sweet_Irish_Cream  4412.1 #43 7-12-12 3:35PM
We take advantage of indoor areas where you can get out of the heat, sit down, and cool off such as Innoventions, Captain EO, and the Animation Academy in DCA. Hooray for A/C!!! :o) - HadMatter   535.5 #468 7-12-12 3:31PM Like  Reply
don't forget tiki room! - missgoofy  371.6 #723 7-14-12 11:52AM

Take advantage of the cooler attractions during the day...pirates, animation academy, Aladdin show and the train always provides shade with a nice breeze. - ladylikesdisneysmom   269.6 #1322 7-12-12 3:31PM Like  Reply

It is suggested that we drink 8-10 glasses of water on a normal day, and even more on hot day. While its tempting to quench your thirst with sodas and the like, it is doing your body more harm with the calories and sugars and isn't providing you with what it needs to help keep it's self cool like water does. You can pick up great water bottles at stores like Target, most even have a water filter in them now days! It can also fill you up a bit more, so you end up snacking less. I LOVE water! - Sweet_Irish_Cream   4412.1 #43 7-12-12 4:10PM Like  Reply
And don't forget the kids! Dehydration happens SO quickly for them. We do propel drinks because the hint of sweet gets them to drink more. :) - Darlingwendi  1228.3 #178 7-12-12 4:34PM
Also, being a pretty fair skinned Brit, I am big on sunscreen and know just how important is and how easily it can be overlooked. Check your bottle and make sure it is a 'Broad Spectrum' screen protecting from both UVA and UVB rays, and is recommended to be at least a strength of 35. Not only will you be protected from those burns, but it also keeps skin looking young and prevents wrinkles ladies! πŸ˜‰ Don't be fooled, even on overcast days like today you can still get burned while being outside for long periods of time. - Sweet_Irish_Cream   4412.1 #43 7-12-12 4:11PM Like  Reply

TouchΓ©. I hate getting burnt at the parks.. it's the most uncomfortable feeling, ever! - Jacqueline  580.0 #419 7-14-12 11:58AM
And don't forget to reapply! Especially if you've gone on Splash or GRR. I usually redo my sunblock every couple hours (basically whenever we sit down to eat/rest) - SPandEvLover  4846.1 #36 7-14-12 12:05PM
πŸ‘†yes!! Even if it's "water proof", still re apply. - Sweet_Irish_Cream  4412.1 #43 7-14-12 3:16PM
We found a upf of 100 for the grandbaby. He lives in Washington and gets minimal sun. Recommend for the little ones or fair skinned. I also used that Rit dye stuff but it is a sunblock version for his receiving blankets, hats and such. - Sugarbuzz  341.6 #816 7-21-12 12:59PM
Bump. Looks like another hot one! Stay cool MW 😎 - Sweet_Irish_Cream   4412.1 #43 7-14-12 11:49AM Like  Reply
I like to buy a case of Smart Waters (Sam's Club usually has a 12 pack of the 1 liter bottles for about $10-12) and take them with me. I'll take a few frozen ones and one cold one for immediate use. On this last trip, my mom got a wheelchair and I had my Ariel cup (pink one with straw from DCA) and asked for free cups of ice and just poured the water in there. I hope this helps some!!! ☺ - SPandEvLover   4846.1 #36 7-14-12 12:08PM Like  Reply
I know it's a little old school, but try using one of those cool ties. They're the scarf type things filled with crystals. You soak it in cool water and the crystals absorb it. Wrap it around your neck, and it will keep your neck cool, which will help keep your body temp down. Just re-wet with cooler water if you need to. I get horrible migraines, just by breathing and heat is not my friend, but this did wonders for me. I found mine at REI for $10. 😊 - DisneyFanZoe   1249.3 #172 7-14-12 12:14PM Like  Reply
