I am going to sign up for a Disney run either in Jan, or next Sept(maybe both)! I am so glad to read there are other MWers who enjoy running as I do. I am posting because I would love to know what motivates you, and is there anything you like to do to "change it Up" or make it more enjoyable. Would love to hear your ideas! For instance, since I have always had small kids I do 75% on the treadmill. A way I like to change it up, is I tape my iPhone to my treadmill when I run. On YouTube I made a playlist of music videos, some are Disney, like "Calling all Monsters " by China Anne, or videos from High School Musical, even Captain EO! Speaking of MIchael Jackson, there are TONS of video mixes of him out there! Someone named Chantalou makes very good MJ mixes. I like running to mixes, because it is a music and video medley- it always changes, never get boring!

When my kids were little I'd put one in a jogger stroller and if I had both I'd let the older one ride her bike. If you go to a track at a local school they can play where you can see them while you do laps. I'd have them bring their bikes, balls, etc. I get board on the treadmill so I mix it up by going different places...parks, trails, lakes, etc. - NikkiMickey   1686.3 #123 9-6-12 6:35AM Like  Reply

I've been running pretty consistently since high school. It's a type of workout I always return to. We got a puppy last year, and he has been a great motivator for me these last few months! He's gotten me out of the boring gym and out on the streets and trails this year, which feels wonderful. He loves jogging and he becomes very focused and obedient when we are out--it's adorable! He has helped to inspire me with my workouts again :) I also bought a road bike this year, and that has been a great way to do my cardio in a different way! I've always wanted a dog that could be a running companion. I like how you said your dog gets focused, that's great! Yes, Pilates is a great workout-- not for the faint of heart. Another class I like is Zumba. - 7mouskedoodles  372.7 #715 9-6-12 8:04AM
