With all the Frankenweenie hype, I thought I would share some fun facts. Tim Burton originally directed a live action short version of the film in 1984 while employed by Disney. This was the last film to be released under the Buena Vista banner. The film starred Daniel Stern, Jason Hervey(who both later starred in The Wonder Years), Shelly Duvall and Sophia Copola. After the completion of the film, Burton was fired by Disney, claiming he had wasted company resources. The film was originally set to appear in front of the re-release of Pinicchio but was shelved because Disney felt the film was too scary for young audiences. The film can now be enjoyed on the NBC DVD and Blu-ray.
