With the talk of "Saving Mr. Banks" I decided to look into the Mary Poppins book. I discovered there was a whole series! Has anyone read these? I'm thinking of purchasing them to read to LilNinja.
I just found this out when Lil E was reading one earlier this year - E-Ticket771.6 #127 11-6-12 10:22PMLike Reply
My mom read them to me as a child, as well as the Laura Ingles Wilder series, Anne of Green Gables series, and the Chronicles of Narnia. Precious memories. - LittleAprilShowers471.0 #255 11-6-12 10:47PMLike Reply
I read those as a child on my own and loved them. They are on my list to read to LilNinja as he gets older, as well as Lord of the Rings. - MousekaNinja 330.1 #470 11-7-12 7:57PM
I still sit down with a Little House book every so often--I read them over and over as a kid; I was even Laura for Halloween once. π - Spoonful_O_Sugar 435.8 #283 11-7-12 8:00PM
SOS, you're not my sister are you? It sometimes scares me how much random stuff we have in commonπ. I too once went as Laura. Did you ever dress as scarlet Ohara? Because that would just be weird. - LittleAprilShowers 471.0 #255 11-7-12 8:03PM
π Omg! I just now saw this. You're the only person I've ever known who dressed as Laura too! (My best friend was Mary that year--she had a blue print dress and I had a pink one). No, I never dressed as Scarlett, but only because I didn't read Gone With The Wind until I was older. Scarlett is my absolute favorite character and if I ever go to the DL Halloween party, I'm going as Scarlett. π This is so funny! - Spoonful_O_Sugar 435.8 #283 11-8-12 5:08AM
Anne of Green Gables is my favorite book series to date....still. I read them all and would watch the movies over and over and over again. I also loved the Laura Ingles series. My favorite Narnia book is the very first one. It explains the light post in Wardrobe - KissDclown 1088.1 #76 11-8-12 5:48AM
The Magicians Nephew is a great book. Sometimes when I'm stressed, I imagine that I'm sitting in the wood between the worlds. - LittleAprilShowers 471.0 #255 11-9-12 11:07AM
I didn't know that! I did know, though, that there are a BUNCH of books in the Oz series. They are fantastic reading. :) - jmgphx322.7 #508 11-7-12 8:59AMLike Reply
I'll have to look into those too, thanks for the recommendation! - MousekaNinja 330.1 #470 11-7-12 7:55PM
Definitely read them. I haven't actually read them but want to and it's always good to introduce the originals to children. There's more depth in the books (not to say the movie isn't great) - cesium55529.7 #215 11-9-12 11:42AMLike Reply
