Alright mwers! We are roughly 2 months away from the 2013 Tinkerbell Half Marathon and/or The Neverland 5k. Was wondering who is running it and what last minute things you do to get ready for race day! (First time racer here!)
I think my tip would be to run your own race. At the start a lot of people pass me and it makes me want to speed up but I know if I want to make it the whole way I need to run at my own pace, the pace I trained at. - MXPrincess399 802.6 #260 11-17-12 9:40PMLike(1)Reply
Yay!! You can do it!! I'm just doing the 5k but I've done a few 10k and slowly working my way to 1/2 soon - MarshaMouse 5044.1 #29 11-17-12 8:05PMLikeReply
First timer here as well doing the 5k - angy17 181.1 #2336 11-17-12 8:10PMLikeReply
👋Me! Ran the half last year, registered for it this year. I have to work out shift trades for work but with some pixie dust it will all fall into place. I already spent my SW Rapids rewards points so it better 😉 - tdashgirl 320.4 #865 11-17-12 8:16PMLikeReply
Me! It's my first time running and I'm doing the 1/2 hopefully I can keep up! - victoria13 289.3 #1063 11-17-12 8:23PMLikeReply
It's going to be my first 5k. But after 2 months of training, I have an injury. I'm still determined to do it, though! - PrincessKristin 780.8 #274 11-17-12 8:35PMLikeReply
I won't be participating, but 5k is nothing! That was the length of the Color Me Rad run I did a couple months ago. It will be soo much fun with going to DL! Good Luck Girl! You will do great! - Armenda 1186.0 #166 11-17-12 8:40PMLikeReply
CAB train rain or shine. Push through and do a countdown calendar. I will be running/walking it too. - MeridasHair 346.5 #741 11-17-12 9:11PMLikeReply
I so wish I was doing this! Good luck and have fun!! - brodysmommy 468.3 #505 11-17-12 9:13PMLikeReply
I'm running the Half. Trying to decide on a costume. I ran as Peter Pan last time. - MXPrincess399 802.6 #260 11-17-12 9:13PMLikeReply
I'm running the 5k and half marathon. It's my first too. Yes, any tips would be appreciated. - NikkiMickey 1686.3 #113 11-17-12 9:35PMLikeReply
Doing the half again. Trying to decide if I'll wear a costume or not. - LilSterner 5828.4 #24 11-17-12 9:36PMLikeReply
I'll be running the 1/2, it's going to be lots of fun if you haven't done a runDisney event before! My tip is pace yourself and make sure you do at least three days a week of running and stick to a training plan. You can do it! - pixiedreamer 231.5 #1679 11-17-12 10:10PMLikeReply
My wife will be running the 1/2. I think we are using it as an excuse to go back to Disneyland for a few days. We added 2 day park hoppers, just not sure what days we will be using them. Get in Friday and going home Monday. Advice that has helped her..... Follow the training calendar provided by trainers on the website - MermaidHunter 144.3 #2920 11-17-12 10:10PMLikeReply
Another tip I forgot about- carry some energy bites, gel, etc. they give you a Clif energy shot between mile 9 and 10. I have found that it helps if I have something around mile 4 or 5 too. When I go on training runs I use PowerBar energy bites and they really help during the race. - LilSterner 5828.4 #24 11-18-12 9:24AMLikeReply
Be sure to start hydrating the week before. The day before, be sure to eat hearty meals, but don't eat anything you are unfamiliar with. That's not the time to try something new or spicy! Also, if you are wearing a costume, be sure to do some training runs in it to make sure it's comfortable. This will be my 4th half marathon so if I think of anything else, I'll let you know! Good luck with your training! - PirateQueenBriezy 345.3 #745 11-18-12 10:10AMLikeReply
I am running it! It will be my first half marathon ever. I haven't ran in about a month, due to craziness at school and work. I'm looking forward to getting back into training though! - ladylikesdisney 945.0 #218 11-18-12 10:26AMLikeReply
Thank you everyone for all the great advice! You are helping to my nerves to the side and be able to enjoy this race! - CourtyAstroBlisters 808.0 #259 11-18-12 10:32AMLikeReply
