I have some questions that I hope someone can help with. My 19 year old was diagnosed with MS this year and we will be going to the park. We will be renting a wheelchair for her as she has problems walking distances, standing for long periods of time and with her balance. Can anyone tell me where the rentals are and if she should get a GAC? She can walk so I'm not sure we should do that or not. Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi there! The wheelchair rentals are right by the front gate. We took my husband's grandma last year and decided to rent a smaller, more portable one from a local rental shop--it was quite a bit cheaper, and we wanted to have it to get to and from the car if we needed to (I don't think the DL rentals can go outside of the esplanade area, though if I'm wrong, I hope someone will correct me). As far as the GAC card, I believe you just need to go to City Hall--I would think that it would be best to have it, just in case (you don't have to use it if she feels strong enough) :) Enjoy your trip! - Spoonful_O_Sugar  435.7 #283 11-22-12 8:58AM Like  Reply
Thank you so much, I'll check out local rental. Btw, I see alot of wheelchair access for rides in DL but do they have it for all the rides in DCA as well? I assume they must, I just don't remember seeing it. - sstarlight  294.4 #640 11-22-12 9:25AM Like  Reply
Yes, as I understand it, most rides in DCA have wheelchair accessible lines. :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar  435.7 #283 11-22-12 9:58AM
