Yeah, it's a bit chilly this evening... Kinda lively over in NOS though... - NotSoDapperDan303.3 #593 12-18-12 10:00PMLike Reply
I knew at 6 that they would probably cancel fireworks due to winds. It was just too windy all day! A great time to be taking pictures, though! - IDVandalSkipperCM1296.6 #63 12-18-12 10:02PMLike Reply
super dopey question :0) how does the wind affect the firework show? is it a safety issue? - OhanaPhoto 1414.3 #56 12-19-12 9:26AM
^absolutely it is safety issue. The fireworks are shot into the sky with the wind they will be shot off target it could explode and cause fires to the structures or plants around the resort. More importantly with the wind comes static electricity that can cause the shells to explode before they shot into the air which is dangerous to the firework technicians. - vincentchase 642.1 #169 12-19-12 9:37AM
^ thank you so much for the info! i've always wondered what the specifics were. totally makes sense! - OhanaPhoto 1414.3 #56 12-19-12 9:48AM
That and the direction of the wind depends on whether or not we can shoot off the fireworks. If the wind is blowing towards DCA for example, we can't do fireworks because the fall out will fall directly into the park! - IDVandalSkipperCM 1296.6 #63 12-19-12 10:33AM
the fall out already falls on you right outside of iasw shop - toph 2398.9 #26 12-19-12 10:36AM
i always dread the white balloon lol :0) - OhanaPhoto 1414.3 #56 12-19-12 11:01AM
@ohanaphoto we've sat and watched a show where there were at least 6 white balloons released during the remember show - toph 2398.9 #26 12-19-12 5:50PM
When I went to the casting center there were a lot of signs that warned against fall out. And what is the deal with the white balloons? - JRDrummer_CM 792.7 #119 12-19-12 7:23PM
@JRDrummer I believe they use them to measure the winds but usually before a show. - toph 2398.9 #26 12-19-12 7:28PM
The white balloons help the Disney Fire Department and the pyrotechnic crew measure the wind direction and speed to determine if it's safe to set off the fireworks. - IDVandalSkipperCM 1296.6 #63 12-19-12 7:30PM
They release balloons to see which direction the wind carries them. - MamaRoo 346.7 #419 12-19-12 7:30PM
@toph (my fav avatar character :0) after the 6 balloons did they cancel the show? - OhanaPhoto 1414.3 #56 12-19-12 8:54PM
