Good morning! This day in Disney history Dec 20th, 1958. Disneyland presents its 1st ever evening Candlelight Processional w/singers from sixteen choirs moving down Main Street to the Plaza where they performed a full concert w/the Dickens carolers. Narrated by actor Dennis Morgan (on his birthday). (I was unable to find a photo) Also on this day in 2002, Ariel's Grotto, in DCA, opens for business. In addition, in 2007 a 75-foot-tall crane hoists the first of the new Mark VII monorails from a flatbed truck onto the beam way track. The five-car burnt-burgundy train is the 1st of three new monorails expected to go into service @ DL starting in February 2008. Three years in the making, the all-new bullet-nosed monorails were designed by Disney, built in Rhode Island & assembled in Vancouver, Canada.

The Candlelight Procession was started by Walt as a "thank you" gift for those who contributed and made the company better during the past year, or those who retired after being with the company for a long time. Its strange how its been going on for some many years and still, a lot of people don't know about it (because it is not advertised a lot).
