Hi everyone. So I booked a room at the Desert Inn and suites for our next Disney trip a couple months ago and I'm just now reading the reviews and they aren't so good...has anyone else stayed there? Was it a good experience?
I've stayed there countless times too; nothing fancy, but as close to the parks as you can get without doing Disney & sleeps many; parking can be tight, and most is in underground lot-but totally doable on the cheap. Manager is Carlos (haha-used to stay a lot when my kids were young and he'd give me his best rate-but AAA usually good). They have viewing deck for fireworks. Try HoJo too. - TinkerSchelle 2140.0 #90 1-4-13 11:39PMLike(3)Reply
We've stayed there a couple times and had no real complaints. Complimentary hot breakfast and a clean bed so wasnt too bad. Plus really how much time do you actually spend in the room? - DisneyMe2Death 875.0 #254 1-4-13 6:43PMLike(2)Reply
When reading reviews on hotels I try to keep in mind that people are more likely to post the negative more than the positive! - MJmouse 372.1 #698 1-4-13 8:56PMLike(2)Reply
I've stayed there many times. It's a 3 star hotel so it's not great but its clean, quiet and very close walking distance. The rooftop deck has a great view of the parks and fireworks. The elevator takes forever during checkout hours. I've also stayed at del sol, tropicana and carousel. They are similar but desert inn was the best out of those ones in my opinion. - Twitterpated 278.6 #1210 1-4-13 11:18PMLike(1)Reply
We have stayed there at least 3 times in the past 2 years and had no issues! It's always the first hotel I check when planning a visit! Can't beat the location. Have fun! - ibmickeyfan 56.7 #4858 1-4-13 7:49PMLikeReply
Just stay away from the Alamo. That place is sketchy! I checked in and checked out within 10 mins. 😷 - AshleyLynn22 791.2 #283 1-4-13 7:51PMLikeReply
I would stay away from Motel 6 Maingate as well. I know Motel 6 isn't 5 star accommodations but they were in the news for some undesirable activity going on there. Just a heads up! - leftmyheartinwonderland 359.9 #741 1-4-13 7:53PMLikeReply
I stayed at Motel 6 twice in October, twice in September, twice in November and I was just there last week and the week prior and it suited us perfectly. - MrsMears 217.3 #1917 1-4-13 8:07PMLikeReply
I never heard about this undesirable activity but when we stayed there the beds were rock hard, our room had bugs, and it was super noisy - LennaH 160.8 #2714 1-4-13 8:14PMLikeReply
We stay there once a year at Halloween time. The beds are uncomfortable and the rooms are outdated. The location is perfect. I feel you get what you pay for, it is usually very cheap to stay there and that is what you are getting but it does the job of a place to shower and sleep. Parking is very tight and limited. - TheDisneylandman 264.3 #1358 1-4-13 8:30PMLikeReply
Stayed there this summer. Was quiet and clean. The free breakfast was not much but it was free. Haha. Would totally stay there again. - fromthejaw 341.2 #797 1-4-13 9:37PMLikeReply
The embassy suite was a great place to stay at - gonzofam 303.5 #1018 1-4-13 9:44PMLikeReply
I've stayed at the desert inn a few times. The rooms have always been clean and I've never had a problem with noise. Plus it's close to the parks. - Krismiss 304.9 #1012 1-4-13 9:54PMLikeReply
Didn't mean to thank this but what does it matter? your just going to sleep there right? Most of your time should be in the parks :) at least that's how I would see it. If your saving money then more stuff you can treat yourself in the parks :) - Hendizl 2950.5 #58 1-4-13 10:00PMLikeReply
We stay there every time now. It's close and cheap! We usually only nap, sleep and bathe there :) sometimes it can be noisy when kids are running by because their parents don't control them but most of the time it's fine. My kids sleep through the night fine and so do we. We prefer it because with it being cheap we can spend more in the parks and also enjoy multiple trips! Hope you have a great trip!! - brodysmommy 476.6 #520 1-4-13 10:08PMLikeReply
We stayed there's few months ago. They upgraded is to a suit which was unexpected and nice. The walk to Disneyland wasn't very far and the breakfast was way above par. The only down side was that our suit was located on the lobby and right next to the elevator. One of the rooms in the suit was pretty much unusable because it was soooo noisy. You could hear everything that was going on in the lobby. Other than that it was great. I would stay there again. The beds were super comfy too. - BellesLibrary 431.4 #589 1-4-13 10:52PMLikeReply
Cheap places are the best! As long as they have hot water, you're good
:D We stay at the Alamo inn when we go - NeverlandPan 7.3 #15271 1-5-13 7:55AMLikeReply
