Good morning! This day in Disney history, Jan 8th, 1956. Due to poor attendance, The Mickey Mouse Club Circus, an attraction running since November 1955, closes. The 1st major addition to Disneyland, the circus was held in a tent (which was set-up in the area that later will house the Fantasyland Autopia). Capitalizing on the success of the Mickey Mouse Club TV series, the 75-minute circus show featured a cast of well-known Mousketeers in various roles. To watch a clip from the show: do you remember this attraction? ✨ Also on this day in 1962, The Chicken Plantation Restaurant, in business since the park's opening day, closes in Frontierland. The space occupied by the restaurant is needed for the construction of New Orleans Square. Do you remember this restaurant?
I think I was being conceived about then. Ewww I shouldn't have thought about that! - DisneyGrandma   892.0 #251 1-8-13 11:02AM Like(3)  Reply
Oh my goodness! DisneyGrandma bringing the funny today! 😂 Go to a happy place. Hope you feel better now. 😘 - Duchess_SMK  6634.7 #24 1-8-13 2:45PM
Both before my time. But I do still have a crush on Annette Funicello. Wow! The Tom Sawyer's Island rafts sure haven't changed! Thank you SMK! Love your posts! - MyPark   1298.8 #166 1-8-13 10:11AM Like  Reply
How much Skippy peanut butter did you eat back in the day? - ScooterMike  1963.0 #103 1-8-13 10:26AM
I loved Skippy and I loved those commercials! - MyPark  1298.8 #166 1-8-13 10:29AM
I do believe Annette may be in that clip I posted....👆 But she was very young. I take it she did a peanut butter commercial? Lol before my time...👶 - Duchess_SMK  6634.7 #24 1-8-13 10:33AM
Yes! I spotted her in the clip. And the Skippy commercials with Annette were from the early to mid '80s.. I don't think that's before your time SMK. - MyPark  1298.8 #166 1-8-13 10:40AM
Well, I wouldn't have been very young, lol. Don't think I started watching tv till I was at least 5 or 6 MyPark. 😂 I thought that was her in the clip! Cool! - Duchess_SMK  6634.7 #24 1-8-13 10:45AM
Fabulous pictures. Great link. I do remember the Chicken Plantation but not the Mickey Mouse Club Circus. - Tealtownfan   1171.9 #191 1-8-13 10:22AM Like  Reply
Thanks Teal! Can you enlighten us about the menu? I would love to know what they served besides chicken. 😊 - Duchess_SMK  6634.7 #24 1-8-13 2:42PM

You finally stumped me! I've heard of both, but these are both before my time! - Gia   802.2 #285 1-8-13 2:04PM Like  Reply
Naw, I didn't stump you doll. Doesn't count if you weren't around yet. 😉😘 - Duchess_SMK  6634.7 #24 1-8-13 4:28PM
Yay! Finally something before my time! LOL. It seems kind of funny that they would scrap that circus after less than two months. I guess once you know something isn't working, no point in dragging it out. - MacaronMerida   4748.5 #39 1-8-13 2:21PM Like  Reply
Exactly! Disney seems to be pretty good at paying attention to what "sells" 😉 👋 hope you are well my dear! - Duchess_SMK  6634.7 #24 1-8-13 4:37PM
