🌟Ok.. These pics of this morning's run have motivated and inspired me to do the next Disney run on August 31. I DO NOT run and will need tons of encouragement! Is there anyone else willing to make the commitment with me that will need some help? If we can use this post as a commitment, I will keep track of us newbies and find a way that we can work together (be it sending words of encouragement through DMs, etc) to keep our commitment and be successful on our first run!! Since this will be my first run ever, I'll be doing the 5k, but sign up fir whatever your comfort/ ability level is and LET'S DO THIS!! Who's with me?!?! Team MW!!!🌟

A friend is a marathon runner, just completed her first 50-miler in September I think, found out she has breast cancer and had a lumpectomy in Nov and insisted on completing the California International Marathon before she would start radiation and chemo. I'm sorry if someone already advised these but you should try the Couch to 5k and Bridge to 10k programs. I was like you, never ran, I even hated running the mile in high school lol. When I tried these, they were easy to follow and you can go at your own pace. I never thought I would EVER be able to run for an hour straight but I did after finishing these programs. Now I'm 10 weeks pregnant with nausea and no energy so, I'm hoping to do these programs after the baby is born. I walk the 5ks....it's really pretty crowded even though they start everyone in waves. It's a lot of fun and NOT timed. The 16min mile requirement is more for the half marathon. (I still can't wrap my head around 13.1 miles) sign up and then search active.com for some 5ks in your area to do before so you get a better idea of distance. In Feb is the Race on the base in Alamitos and a frozen food 5k at Angels stadium. March is the coaster run at Knotts and you get FREE pie!!! Lol. Go to a specialty shop like Fleet Feet or Roadrunner Sports--most of them have services available to figure out the best shoe for the type of foot you have. They should also analyze the way you run on a treadmill. Don't buy a shoe because it's on sale or trendy or pretty--buy a shoe because it fits your foot and works with your gait. Not sure if I can come, but I do want to recommend the 5k Runner app for the iPhone or iPod. I really hate running, but needed to do more cardio & downloaded this app to get me started. If you have an iPhone I recommend downloading the Nike + running app. It keeps track of your progress, talks to while your running, gives words of encouragement, and you can keep track of friends to monitor their progress and compete with them.
