Hi! During the past few weeks, we've added some new members to this group, so I want to explain to them what this "land" is for and what its purpose is. This land is a private land in order to discuss and plan a MouseWait webcast/podcast show. In the beginning, Admin clearly stated that this land is NOT to be used to create and chat about gossip about other users or what is going on the Lounge and is strictly for the webcast. The webcast we are trying to create will be geared to MWers as well as the general public. It will consist of Disneyland news, events and MW meetups. Also, it will be a place where we can talk about topics, submit tips and review food, hotels, etc, and show pictures/videos of the past MW meetups. So far, SPandEvLover has decided to be the head of this group and others have said that they'd like to be a "host" on the webcast. Currently and after speaking with Admin, the majority of us have decided that the webcast is going to be a roundtable discussion that will be recorded (audio only) somewhere at the resort. While we talk about the event/news topic, we can use pictures (taken by us) and edit them in as a visual on screen. If we keep it simple to start out, it would be easier to create and distribute more shows at a good pace and if this webcast gets going, we may go all video instead of audio only. So far, we have discussed about putting out a show every other week, giving us time to prep, record and make any edits needed. If I forgot anything or have any questions/input, post below!
I forgot to add that we are trying to cover as much as the "Limited Time Magic" happenings in the park as much as we can. These events give us plenty to talk about while they are happening. Unfortuantley, some of the events have already past (like Three Kings Day), so we'll probably summarize them in the first show. - BaseballMickey_CM   6006.5 #13 1-21-13 9:26PM Like(1)  Reply
Thanks for explaining for everyone :D One thing, in case people hadn't seen is that we also have the ability to tag/ move posts. Per admin, we must use the tags appropriately, especially the "Great Pics" and "Quality Content" tags (which should be used sparingly) There is a post somewhere with detail, but also if you see a post that is news worthy, move it to the "News" land :] - MEHlanie_Mouse   1113.9 #126 1-21-13 9:33PM Like(1)  Reply
so that means no "favorite dinner" tags for John Stamos ;] - MEHlanie_Mouse  1113.9 #126 1-21-13 9:33PM
Also, don't forget about tagging for Food, Characters, etc., if they are worthy of it showcasing in the category. - BaseballMickey_CM  6006.5 #13 1-21-13 9:37PM
I tried moving LBchicas post to News land but my aop crashed. I'm on Android so I'll have a chat with Admin. Gathering a list of bugs for him at the moment. - RickChavez  3238.0 #28 1-21-13 9:55PM
Great info and a great summary of what's planned. Thanks BBM. - RickChavez   3238.0 #28 1-21-13 9:22PM Like  Reply
So the webcast would be an audio file, with pictures, uploaded to YouTube? Or would it just be an audio only podcast? - TheNewTrent   748.0 #208 1-21-13 10:24PM Like  Reply
I think to start and to keep it simple, we'll be doing the first option - BaseballMickey_CM  6006.5 #13 1-21-13 10:27PM
okay, and then eventually, we would transition into a video format? - TheNewTrent  748.0 #208 1-21-13 10:32PM
Possibly. Depending how successful the show goes and if we can get enough video content and edit it on time - BaseballMickey_CM  6006.5 #13 1-21-13 10:40PM
Okay cool, thanks. - TheNewTrent  748.0 #208 1-21-13 10:56PM
Do we still need a dropbox account made for file sharing? I just created one and it has 50gbs. If it isn't needed anymore that's ok. - RickChavez   3238.0 #28 1-21-13 10:45PM Like  Reply
Keep it just in case - BaseballMickey_CM  6006.5 #13 1-21-13 10:46PM
You got it. - RickChavez  3238.0 #28 1-21-13 11:00PM
well there was talk about photos being added. It could also be good to start building a "library" so to speak if it does go in the direction of a show with video. - DarthSkellington  6.3 #12697 1-22-13 9:35AM
Thank you Baseballmickey for the summary. Since I am new I kind of felt a little lost on what was going on, but I agree with the direction of starting slow and keeping it simple to begin with. - Miss-E-Mouse   1358.4 #93 1-22-13 2:12AM Like  Reply
Thank you SO much for posting this!!! Maybe we could try to keep this bumped at the top? - SPandEvLover   2772.6 #34 1-22-13 2:00PM Like  Reply
I was brainstorming some quiet locations to record: the back of the Hungry Bear restaurant, the picnic area, the back at the Paradise Grill/Boardwalk pizza area or even at the Grand CA lobby. Any where else? - BaseballMickey_CM   6006.5 #13 1-22-13 11:13PM Like  Reply
I personally like the picnic area because if some people are blocked, they can still make it. Also, you can still hear the monorail go over, which is cool. - BaseballMickey_CM  6006.5 #13 1-22-13 11:14PM
I think having it in the picnic area would be a great area. I don't know how many people often show up to that area but it couldn't be many. We also wouldn't have to go through the bag check, so could possibly bring a laptop to record on. - TheNewTrent  748.0 #208 1-23-13 2:59AM
Those are great places. If in park that one area next to Matterhorn with tables and chairs next to the water could work too . - RickChavez  3238.0 #28 1-23-13 2:59AM
you cant take a laptop in the parks? I have seen them. What about the outside fireplace at the grand? There are several places on the grand property that look good. The picnic are is also a really good one, i dont think many people know it there. What happens when it's not the off-season anymore? - DarthSkellington  6.3 #12697 1-23-13 3:55PM
hereee's where i'm having a problem. how are we planning on recording at a place at the park? 4 people huddled around one microphone won't really work. there's a good chance you won't be able to hear at least two of them. i thought we were thinking of recording from our homes? if you have a skype conversation and one person records it then every person has their own microphone and can usually be heard. then the person in charge of recording is also in charge of editing then if the group wants they can meet up and record some stuff at the parks for background? or one person can. i'm just trying to figure out the logistics. - nicoleface   1746.7 #71 1-23-13 10:23PM Like  Reply
the only thing about skype is you have to pay to have group chats, unless we did like googlehangout lol. And then idk if people's connection quality and what not would be a factor either.. - MEHlanie_Mouse  1113.9 #126 1-23-13 10:47PM
This could work easier than having to have people show up to the parks and having to lug around recording gear to record audio. And then if we do eventually transition to a video format, we could do that too. - TheNewTrent  748.0 #208 1-23-13 10:56PM
i thought it was only for audio? not our faces? skype doesn't charge for group audio calls. - nicoleface  1746.7 #71 1-23-13 11:16PM
oh and i hear you on the connection quality but i thought we were doing it this way so people who don't get to the parks often could also participate? - nicoleface  1746.7 #71 1-23-13 11:16PM
Admin mentioned that if anyone has an iPhone 5, the mics on it are pretty good. Recording over skype could work too, but I'm not sure how that works. Others can join in my recording their own piece and sending in their own pics. (just record their voice using the "voice memos" feature and emailing their pics to the editor) - BaseballMickey_CM  6006.5 #13 1-23-13 11:23PM
OH yeah that's true. When I think of skype I just think videochat. haha. - MEHlanie_Mouse  1113.9 #126 1-23-13 11:38PM
so if we were to do the "live" roundtable discussion, would we just be recording it on Iphone5 in the voice memos then? We can try a test recording just to see how it comes out... - MEHlanie_Mouse  1113.9 #126 1-23-13 11:39PM
but if we did, voice memos, it would take up space on the iphones storage and that creates problems. I don't have much space left on my phone as it is. I was thinking of something much more complicated so I guess I'll think it through again. - TheNewTrent  748.0 #208 1-24-13 1:26AM
We could do it the old fashioned way with tape recorders? 😂 Lol would an app to record still take up storage space? O.o - MEHlanie_Mouse  1113.9 #126 1-24-13 9:44AM
Yes cause the phone needs space to store the recording. - RickChavez  3238.0 #28 1-24-13 9:54AM
look at bbm's comment and my reply below. - nicoleface  1746.7 #71 1-24-13 2:07PM
This website allows you to record skype conversations: http://voipcallrecording.com/ - BaseballMickey_CM   6006.5 #13 1-23-13 11:29PM Like  Reply
yeah, there are different programs that let you record skype calls on your computer. whoever uses a computer should be the one to record it so they can also edit on there. iphones aren't really conducive to editing. - nicoleface  1746.7 #71 1-23-13 11:52PM
