It's been awhile since we have been to the parks. We are planning on going next month! Is the Matterhorn less bumpy than before? My mother is coming with us and she was concerned. Any info is much appreciated.
Please don't be offended because I am also chubby...but StrawberryGuy once mentioned that the biggest/heaviest person in your group sit in the front to the lightest person in the back. It will help your sled go faster and seems to be a smoother ride. I'm chubby and have noticed it is a much better ride. - Armenda   1135.5 #123 2-4-13 6:18PM Like(3)  Reply
I will have to try that. It's my wife's favorite but it pretty much wrecks me. I have been sitting in the middle (what I thought was the roomiest seat) and bracing for impact. - GrumpyPirateDad  1790.8 #71 2-4-13 9:30PM
Ride it after running the half marathon...won't notice any additional pain ๐Ÿ˜‚ - Darlingwendi   897.8 #166 2-4-13 6:43PM Like(3)  Reply
Totally agree although it was much harder to get out!! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ - CourtyAstroBlisters  676.9 #243 2-4-13 8:34PM
In my honest opinion, it's bumpier. I felt like my spine was going to shoot through my skull. - Jacqueline   580.0 #295 2-4-13 6:18PM Like(1)  Reply
^^^^ excellent description of how I feel riding it. - Lelundrial  468.5 #392 2-4-13 8:22PM
My daughter did mention the bumpiness when she rode it today. - MeridaFan   3404.9 #27 2-4-13 6:20PM Like  Reply
Don't think it's less bumpier but the right side is a bit slower than the left. - SafariSkewerJessica   1228.8 #107 2-4-13 6:20PM Like  Reply
You have it backwards... The left (Tomorrowland) side is faster and has sharper turns and a couple of sudden drops. The right (Fantasyland) side is slower, slightly longer, and doesn't have as many aggressive maneuvers. - JRDrummer_CM  875.4 #173 2-4-13 6:25PM
I do? The right side is slower right? - SafariSkewerJessica  1228.8 #107 2-4-13 6:36PM
Yes, Jessica you are right. - Armenda  1135.5 #123 2-4-13 6:39PM
Annnnd I need to make sure I fully understand posts before I correct them. My bad Jessica, I revoke my previous statement. Sorry about that - JRDrummer_CM  875.4 #173 2-4-13 6:42PM
You're forgiven. LOL. no need 2 say sorry. - SafariSkewerJessica  1228.8 #107 2-4-13 8:10PM
Hahaha JRD... Good sport! - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  4085.8 #23 2-4-13 8:33PM
๐Ÿ—ปMatterhorn should be looked at๐Ÿ˜, but not ridden๐Ÿ˜ฃ! - Sweet_Irish_Cream   3823.9 #25 2-4-13 6:20PM Like  Reply
What? I love Matterhorn, just not the bobsleds. - SafariSkewerJessica  1228.8 #107 2-4-13 6:37PM
Exactly. And the bobsleds are the only way to ride the attraction. - Sweet_Irish_Cream  3823.9 #25 2-4-13 6:46PM
So if the bobsleds were different you wouldn't like it?? - SafariSkewerJessica  1228.8 #107 2-4-13 8:07PM
I don't see why this is so confusing to you. To break down my original comment for you...it was that the Matterhorn is a beautiful attraction to look at, but because it's such a rough ride, I don't like to ride it. Hense, "The Matterhorn should be looked at(heart eyed emoji because its pretty), but not ridden (squinty face because its so rough). Just my option, that's all ๐Ÿ˜ - Sweet_Irish_Cream  3823.9 #25 2-4-13 9:38PM
Definitely bumpier! - ShariRenee   4200.9 #21 2-4-13 6:21PM Like  Reply
Yep! Can't ride it anymore. - MrsSchnooks  2764.2 #36 2-4-13 8:13PM
Even my 18 year old daughter was like "ouch Mt Bump Diggity" ๐Ÿ˜ƒ - ShariRenee  4200.9 #21 2-4-13 8:44PM
Yes, bumpier. I cannot sit in the front on it anymore and I have to brace myself by holding onto the seat in front of me so I don't get banged around. - aidensmama   340.1 #613 2-4-13 8:10PM Like  Reply
Worse then before, jarring and bumpy and don't like it :( - josueandsandie   3.3 #29658 2-4-13 8:13PM Like  Reply
Yeah, I rode the Matterhorn for the first time since they refurbished it a couple weeks ago. I was Not impressed. You have to have really short legs, otherwise you can't stretch them out. It was very bumpy. They should've left it with the other cars. I'll just stick to Space Mountain!! Best ride, EVER!!! Sorry guys, I didn't mean to be negative. - Superspacemountainfan   79.2 #3687 2-4-13 8:16PM Like  Reply
Why not make a pic of SpaceMountain your user pic? - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint  4085.8 #23 2-4-13 8:30PM
Sit with your legs crossed. It's a lot more comfortable. - MlovesDisney   7.0 #11776 2-4-13 8:22PM Like  Reply
if you lean forward and hold on to the bars in front you wont feel the bumps at all trust me i have tested every seat already. everyone i go with agrees - Hendizl   2500.3 #42 2-4-13 8:28PM Like  Reply
I will back up your statement. The trick is to separate your body as much from the train as possible and it's a lot smoother ride. - JRDrummer_CM  875.4 #173 2-4-13 8:38PM
Wish I had seen this before we went last week. My brain felt like it was gunna shake out of my head - amyb1076  279.7 #936 2-4-13 8:49PM
Sit in seat #5 (second car). - Alicewhoareyou   1103.6 #133 2-4-13 8:50PM Like  Reply
Or #2 for that matter. It's smoother because 5 and 2 are not situated over the wheels - JRDrummer_CM  875.4 #173 2-4-13 9:02PM
Aha! Interesting. I think I've sat in every seat in the front car though, and #5 is tolerable for me. lol - Alicewhoareyou  1103.6 #133 2-4-13 9:17PM
Since you know your mom's comfort level, you could preview the attraction and see what you think. Try both sides. Have a nice trip. - RadiatorSprings4Ever   811.8 #190 2-4-13 8:51PM Like  Reply
I would be very pleased if they would rethink the bobsleds. Some shock absorbers or maybe thicker pads on the seats. I have such fond memories of the Matterhorn, my Uncle used to work on it when I was a child. - Zipadeedoodah   215.1 #1674 2-4-13 8:55PM Like  Reply
I think I'm going to bring a sweatshirt to sit on the next time I ride it to give the seat a little more padding. Those sleds are terribly uncomfortable. - HasAnyoneSeenMyGlassSlipper   621.1 #274 2-4-13 9:26PM Like  Reply
It's just so sad. The trick is to bring a golf cushion, then pretend you're horseback riding over each bump, and remove all wedding rings and jewelry as to not crush your fingers. Next, bring a cane to pull yourself out of the seat. Nothing to it! - Alicewhoareyou   1103.6 #133 2-4-13 9:37PM Like  Reply
We took my mother on law during thanksgiving and she's in her 60's and a Pretty sturdy lady. She didn't like it at all. Bet the crap out of her. But I love it. :) - BellesLibrary   401.9 #478 2-4-13 9:50PM Like  Reply
