Disneyland Talk

This Land is for Disney talk only
789.4 #117 DL Qual #83 2-9-13 12:35PM
After watching the CA Adventure TV special, I thought of a question I'd like to ask you MouseWaiters out there... As incredible as Disney Imagineering is, they have had their share of flops over the years. What is your top attraction/restaurant/show in the parks from the past or present that made you want to exclaim, "What were they thinking?!?"
I think changing Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse to Tarzan was a bad idea. I also prefer the rockets on top of the Peoplemover platform. The empty Peoplemover track is a constant reminder of what should be there. - ScooterMike  1959.8 #35 2-16-13 8:24AM Like(7)  Reply
This is so true, Though the rockets provide a nice touch of tomorrow at the entrance of tomorrow land where it is now, they were more exciting when they were higher up. If only the imagineers would do something with that "setup" that's up there now. A light show or something. - imtheghostinthehatbox  13.6 #5895 2-16-13 9:01AM
Yeah, I've been going to Disneyland for 52 years now, and that empty track to me is the greatest missed opportunity I can recall. Seeing vast tonnage of empty concrete and steel year after year is, kind of a "fail" in my opinion. The creativity of the imagineers over the almost 58 years of Disneyland's existence is second to none, and I believe the reason it is still empty falls on the hands of the people "upstairs". It's time for them to come "downstairs" and just commit to fixing it by putting the people mover back and expanding it to make it a true People Mover! - CVDisneyland  256.9 #934 2-16-13 9:33AM
I agree! I miss the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse :( - TicTocCroc  233.3 #1194 2-16-13 9:38AM
I read that the people mover had tons of accidents involving stupid teens jumping in and out of it and getting body parts stuck. - Princess Daisy  156.6 #2197 2-16-13 9:45AM
I miss Country Bears Jamboree, America Sings and People Mover. - MrsSchnooks  572.5 #193 2-9-13 1:24PM Like(4)  Reply
First thing that comes to mind is the space that innoventions is taking up, bring back the people mover! - ribidib  403.6 #325 2-9-13 12:40PM Like(2)  Reply
Bring back Country Bear Jamboree! - CMsMom  445.2 #276 2-9-13 12:48PM Like(2)  Reply
Rocket Rods were bad and good. They looked kinda cool but Disney should have figured out a way to make them run properly. And when they didn't, they should have brought the Peoplemover back. Just my opinion. 🚀 - minigirl1156  411.7 #315 2-9-13 1:06PM Like(1)  Reply
That park replacement where the Maliboomer used to be. Eh... - LifeyLand  42.2 #3925 2-16-13 9:40AM Like(1)  Reply
Hollywood land in general. There is literally nothing there - vincentchase  640.6 #169 2-9-13 12:38PM Like  Reply
So... Tower of Terror just doesn't account for anything? lol - JRDrummer_CM  789.4 #117 2-9-13 12:54PM
the band at Mad T. Restaurant would be Pizza port, they should have themed after Pizza Planet in Toy Story. - vincentchase  640.6 #169 2-9-13 12:55PM
I know its considered Hollywood land but its placement could have been better IMO. - vincentchase  640.6 #169 2-9-13 12:57PM
HTH, from a storytelling standpoint, isn't supposed to be in the limelight of the Los Angeles skyline anymore. It is in a forgotten part of town (the "dark side" of Hollywood), off the beaten path. I still think the location makes sense. - JRDrummer_CM  789.4 #117 2-9-13 1:30PM
Agree and disagree. There is alot of wasted space there, but the tower is well placed, so I agree there with JR, but that area needs something. - imtheghostinthehatbox  13.6 #5895 2-16-13 9:05AM
Toon Town. - BambooMike  121.8 #2697 2-9-13 12:50PM Like  Reply

It would have been fine if he was just in up to three scenes. But I think they went overboard. - MousekaNinja  335.1 #450 2-16-13 9:41AM
IMO Finding Nemo.... I just dont get it. Such a miserable process to climb down into that tiny claustrophobic submarine, just to watch a tv screen... Not for me. - lohofosho  273.7 #793 2-16-13 9:39AM Like  Reply
Agreed!! - TicTocCroc  233.3 #1194 2-16-13 9:46AM
I would love to see the return o the peoplemover! It is too bad they took it out. It would have been neat to have my kids be able to grow up with it. It was such a classic. Also, the front of Alice lost its charm when they had to cover up so much. Hopefully they can come up with some sort of resolution soon! It is Disney, so I am sure they will invent a way to make it work. - 7mouskedoodles  161.1 #2138 2-16-13 9:57AM Like  Reply
Why did they have to cover up so much of Alice ? - greenalien39  319.6 #522 2-16-13 10:25AM
