Calling all Disneyland Half-Marathon, Dumbo Double Dare, 10k and 5k runners!! I know September 1st seems like a long time from now, but I'm already beginning to train & was wondering if you are too!! I'm curious as to how you've started training, so let's help each other out by posting tips here! 😊
10k here! I downloaded a 14 week running app and love it. I have been fighting a cold, so my running has slipped a little, but I did do a 5k Mud Run and will get back to my 10k training as soon as I kick this head cold. Are you doing the Half? - goofymom2boys  1372.6 #81 2-28-13 10:06AM Like  Reply
What's the app called!? & yes, I'm doing the half! - GrimGrinningAmanda  448.1 #389 2-28-13 10:09AM
It is called 10k: Run for Pink. It was a free download and basically tells you when to run and when to walk. You can listen to your own music. I am a beginning runner and needed a very straight forward app to tell me what to do and when. It doesn't track distance or anything, but I love it. - goofymom2boys  1372.6 #81 2-28-13 10:15AM
I like the sound of that, and it's nice to be able to listen to your own music! I'm going to download it right now. Thank you!! - GrimGrinningAmanda  448.1 #389 2-28-13 12:15PM
Go to marathon rookie.com They have a great 10 week 1/2 marathon training schedule that is very doable. I actually based my regular running schedule around it. - lmirallegro  293.2 #816 2-28-13 10:06AM Like  Reply
It is designed for someone who can already run for 30 minutes - lmirallegro  293.2 #816 2-28-13 10:07AM
I am! Downloaded the Nike app and had my running buddies sign up too (we all live in different cities) so we can keep tabs on each other. I was thinking about starting a Marin county running group if anyone's interested! - MissMolly  1144.9 #103 2-28-13 10:16AM Like  Reply
I'm training for the 10k!!! I just go to the gym a lot. That's about it as of now. - fairyshley  479.8 #355 2-28-13 10:17AM Like  Reply
Training for the 5K using the Couch to 5K program and app. Also signed up for 3 others before Disney--Coaster Run, AIDS Walk OC (also at Disneyland/DCA so I'm hoping the course will be the same), and the Firefly Run. - JustCantWait  1109.3 #110 2-28-13 10:41AM Like  Reply
I am doing the 5k but plan on walking the whole thing due to my asthma. I found a great website that has a six week training plan just for walking. I've started training already figuring the more I train the faster I can walk and spend more time taking pictures!!! - SBsnowwhite  486.2 #347 2-28-13 11:01AM Like  Reply
Could I get that website? I assume I will be walking. I did get the Couch to 5K and haven't even started yet! Need some extra motivation. - snowwannab  662.3 #220 2-28-13 11:12AM
No problem. It is http://m.prevention.com/fitness/fitness-tips/5k-walk-free-training-plan. I also downloaded a free pedometer app that tells me not only how far I have gone but also what pace I am walking at. I was pleasantly surprised that I walk mug faster than I thought I did! - SBsnowwhite  486.2 #347 2-28-13 1:40PM
Thank you! - snowwannab  662.3 #220 2-28-13 2:04PM
I am using the Lolo app 5k with Jeff Galloway. It's awesome!! I am going to do my first 5k in two weeks!! Then I am going to follow the 10k app. THEN the half marathon app to be ready!! Can't wait!! - mrstoad  256.1 #1129 2-28-13 11:04AM Like  Reply
I did the Tink 1/2 and continuing to train. I started training 4 months before the Tink and used a program similar to the Galloway Program. Checkout RunDisney.com where they have lots of info including the Galloway Programs for each run. - NikkiMickey  1682.7 #66 2-28-13 11:29AM Like  Reply
Perfect!! Thank you! I've heard conflicting things, but did you complete a 13.1 mile run prior to the actual Tink 1/2? And if so, how many times? - GrimGrinningAmanda  448.1 #389 2-28-13 7:07PM
I downloaded the C52K app in January and started then. I am not a runner, yet. It was hard to start. I have asthma (working through it) and my calves were killing me. I went to a local running store and got the "shoe dog". The right shoes make a difference. I also do yoga at the end each day and could live in downward dog:) All in all, getting better at it. Someone had told me to try a Zombie running app. I bought it, but am too chicken to do it. I usually run in the mornings by myself and don't want to get to scared! - AZDisney  586.2 #261 3-6-13 7:54PM Like  Reply
