Just got word today - Candlelight 2013 will only be two nights (as it had been before last year), two shows each. December 7-8. Choirs will audition again this year. More info to come in August.
I sang in candlelight back in 1987. I think it was only one night then. Way cool memory. I have a postcard from it I will post if I can find it. - DisneyXpat 4.4 #17847 5-21-13 8:29AMLike(2)Reply
Thanks for posting! This is on my bucket list and as it just so happens to fall on my birthday, I may be batting my eyelashes at my husband to go! 😁 - Pollyanna702 225.7 #1519 5-21-13 7:42AMLike(1)Reply
Boo! I was really hoping to finally go this year but with the two dates I probably won't be able to buy a package. I bet they will be pricey. But I still hope John STAMOS will be a narrator one of the nights so I can drool on my iPhone. - PrincessDuckie 719.2 #218 5-21-13 8:53AMLike(1)Reply
THANK GOD.......WAY TO MANY NIGHTS LAST YEAR - Dave 11287.8 #2 5-21-13 10:00PMLike(1)Reply
I heard rumors it will be in DCA this year? But I'm hoping they will keep it in DL. Thanks for the info! 😊👍 - Sweet_Irish_Cream 3789.9 #25 5-20-13 9:48PMLikeReply
Ack! I really liked having all those shows, all the hosts, and all those chances to win. - Tom 6673.1 #10 5-20-13 9:56PMLikeReply
I imagine there will be some disappointed choirs, after having so many participate last year. - ThatDoleWhipKimberly 391.4 #491 5-20-13 10:00PMLikeReply
Bummer :( I saw it last year for the first time because the days were not so restricted. - BlackCanary86 51.2 #4282 5-20-13 10:20PMLikeReply
Very surprising and disappointing. Last I had heard they were expanding the number of nights, so I'm bummed to hear it will only be two :( - bcarter 220.8 #1584 5-20-13 10:24PMLikeReply
I'm actually glad to hear that it will be going back to the old schedule. Having it last a whole month took the specialness and uniqueness out of the "once a year" event. - NotNKansasAnymor 204.9 #1802 5-21-13 1:38AMLikeReply
Yes, I'm a little surprised, too, but, on the other hand, not so much. Doing so many nights last year was a strain, in so many ways. Lots of staffing, lots of choir members pulling multiple nights (particularly the CM choir), and it tied up Main Street most of the night. Going back to the traditional version gives them more time to iron out what else they can do, and keep things going in the park. - ThatDoleWhipKimberly 391.4 #491 5-21-13 9:22AMLikeReply
This is a little sad. I know it was a logistical nightmare, but I love that I and many others got to see this magical performance for the first time due to having so many nights. Maybe they could compromise and do a week? - Sarafina 433.4 #427 5-21-13 9:38AMLikeReply
Well, this answers my questions on the Christmas parties!! Very sad it is only two nights, I saw kurt russel, lou diamond phillips and john stamos and Aall of them were awesome!!! And the CM soloists were awesome as were the choirs. I was hoping to be in one this year but oh well! - secretagentangel 1249.4 #101 5-21-13 7:38PMLikeReply
I'm so glad we got to see it last year. It was an amazing experience. - Pudgeman 618.6 #275 5-21-13 9:22PMLikeReply
There were also lots of no shows, it was fairly easy to get a good spot last year without having to wait for hours like we've done in the past. Can't wait to hear who will be narrating this year. - toph 2416.6 #43 5-21-13 9:35PMLikeReply
Well, it's September. No new info from my sources, other than our required audition piece. A little over a week until we record, then wait to see if our group is in the choir this year. - ThatDoleWhipKimberly 391.4 #491 9-4-13 10:44PMLikeReply
Well, now it's October. Got word yesterday that our choir isn't getting to go. Too many folks were sick on recording day. 8( So, that's the end of my info for this year. Good luck to those choirs that did get in, and have a great weekend of shows! - ThatDoleWhipKimberly 391.4 #491 10-5-13 10:17AMLikeReply
