For the 24 hour event- all of DCA will be closed (with the exception of Hollywood Land,, Buena Vista Street, Paradise Pier and Condor Flats) from the hours of 11pm-3am. Its actually not that bad. I've worked many Grad Nites over the last few years and have never had a problem. With this format of them being in the park during the day and then after closing reduces the chance of any problems. I was even at the park last night as a guest and didn't feel any difference until we were leaving - BaseballMickey_CM 2775.5 #16 5-10-13 5:43PM
I was in the park last night too and didn't notice any difference either. - PrincessAuroraMomma 392.5 #339 5-10-13 6:03PM
Grad Night was far better when it was only from 12 AM to 6 AM, and the students were required to dress formally for the event. When dressed up, they caused less trouble. Now they can show up wearing anything they want and have full access to the park all day long. However, I did go last Friday and only noticed a few students with wrist bands and noticed more teens, but it did not seem any more crowded than a regular Friday night. - hillstones6.1 #8935 5-17-13 4:59PMLike Reply
It really sucks!!! They should have some sort of access restriction as well as it causes extended wait times on rides to the point that you can't even enjoy a day at the park since its super crowded with immature kids - disneyfreak001 3.8 #14762 5-17-13 9:27PM

It is going to be insanely crowded, they are expecting high capacity because it won't just be Grad-Nite students, but also the media like the local radio and news stations as well. As for DCA, they are staying open all night like Disneyland. It is going to be a FANTASMIC event and I am super duper excited to work and play that fun Disney day. We went to this. It was actually pretty cool. One of the CM's in charge of the horticulture team came out and shared some fun facts about the parks and how they preserve the environment and help local communities. Then she introduced the two films and they were watched on two screens. They had room for about 500 but only maybe 100 showed up. So it was a nice, small crowd. It was a unique and fun experience, but was also a testimony as to how many people are actually interested in nature and the environmentππ - ScubaSteve028807.5 #114 4-23-13 11:13AMLike(5) Reply

#News - Cancellation fees for restaurant/transformation #reservations coming soon. I've seen a couple of blogs reporting this... Beginning May 9 you could be charged a $10 cancellation fee (PER PERSON) if you don't cancel a Disneyland Res More...
I don't make very many reservations and I've only ever missed one due to "Hubby override" about 20 minutes before dinning time. I think this is more for those who make multiple dinning reservations, like one in each park for the same time, so that no matter where they are, they have a place to eat without waiting in line. I think I kinda like the plan, but maybe shorten the cancellation to 12 hours. Plans can change fairly quickly sometimes. - GoofyMom77108.5 #2920 4-21-13 1:40PMLike(2) Reply
While I see where they're coming from, it's true what you say about plans changing quickly. I'd hate to see guests get penalized because there was an emergency causing them to miss a reservation. We'll see how it all goes though - LBChica 1499.2 #51 4-21-13 2:13PM
Wow, never thought of that - that's really rude and selfish. I would like to see those people get smacked. *grrr* - abudoggie 12.0 #6211 4-21-13 8:58PM
I have on multiple occasions had to miss a reservation because of an emergency. I have always let disney dining know as soon as I knew, but if we have to leave with a sick kid the day of, there's not really anything I could do about it. In the long run, I think it will discourage people like me from planning ahead. $30 is a lot of money for us to gamble during a disney trip. I might understand charging those who just make reservations and then don't show, but I think 24 hours notice is WAAAY to intense. - LittleAprilShowers470.9 #255 4-21-13 6:46PMLike(1) Reply
I have a feeling that as long as you call they'll be extremely lenient and understanding, but guess we'll have to wait and see. I suspect they are more focused on efficient use of tables not penalizing people with good intent. - Westcoast 60.7 #3557 4-22-13 10:45PM
I agree with you, April. I think it's a good plan, but 24 hours is a bit much. There are always people waiting for tables at the restaurant who would happily take the spot. So long as you tell them before, it should be allowed :(. Any ideas if you can transfer reservations? - KylaShea 533.2 #212 4-23-13 5:46AM
WDW runs on this policy, and they ARE NOT lenient about it. I tried to cancel about 12 hours in advance for a dinner reservation, and although I got many apologies from the CM I was talking to, there are no exceptions. They do this to keep people from making multiple reservations. On the flip side, I never make dining reservations at Disneyland. The wait usually isn't long anyway, but at WDW reservations are a must; you plan your day around the food. - chelebee230.0 #1238 4-24-13 9:04PMLike Reply
