If you've never been to Walt Disney World, I don't think it could ever be a mistake to go! It's very different from Disneyland. Yes, Magic Kingdom is very close to Disneyland park but it's a whole different experience! We went in December More...
Both parks and resorts are unique in there own way and are worth going to for any Disney fan. While I do spend a lot of time at Disneyland, I still enjoy going to WDW for its uniqueness and variety but I still prefer Disneyland because it's my home. - BaseballMickey_CM 6688.6 #11 3-2-15 7:24PMLike(4)Reply
I don't think you're making a mistake...WDW is super fun! That being said, Disneyland is extremely nostalgic for me and always will be because I've been going with my family since I was 3 weeks old...I didn't go to WDW until I was in my 30s. So they are different but both magical IMO... - MinnieMousewife 807.8 #199 3-2-15 7:27PMLikeReply
No mistake, WDW Is One Of The Most places you will ever visit. The key is to relax and not try to do it all in one visit. You will have to plan dinner reservations in advance and book your fastpasses early but take your time and enjoy it with the possibility you'll have a chance to return. WDW is to large to do it all in one visit so don't try. Find out what is important to you and do that. If you have a chance to return you can do the rest then. Also look into the unofficial guide to WDW, it's a great read and will help out a lot m - richiii3 397.0 #510 3-3-15 12:49AMLikeReply
Have a blast! When we were there it was cold. I mean COLD! But that didn't matter, it was still fantastic!

Just got back from WDW and I have to say we experienced every season in a week's time. My advice is to pack layers! It was fun but the weather was a trial. I wish you safe travels and please post pics! 😊 - BlackCanary86 55.1 #4283 3-1-15 7:12PMLikeReply
Never know what you'll get with Florida weather. It may say rain and either not rain at all, or downpour for a few minutes. Agree be prepared and wear layers. But most of all, have fun! - CheshireCam 200.2 #1890 3-1-15 7:40PMLikeReply

I just took my 2 year old to Disney World. We ate at 3 character dining restaurants and met multiple characters but he wouldn't go near any of them like my big girl did. It wasn't until our final day that he hugged Pooh! I would suggest trying as much as he'll let you. If he's terrified then he obviously might not get over that during your trip but he should be less and less fearful with each one he meets. Hold him standing next to the character! Ease into it! Have fun! - MamalovesMinnie 15.1 #7617 2-11-15 8:13AMLikeReply
My granddaughter is 2 1/2 now and is finally wanting to approach the characters. Up until last week she was only willing to look at them from a distance. I suggest just letting your little go at his/her own pace, just whatever they're comfortable with. - DisneyGrandma 794.8 #204 2-11-15 8:21AMLikeReply
My husband was worried our daughter would be afraid on our first trip when she was about 20 months (she was scared to death of the Chick Fil A cow for a while). She loved them though and gave kisses to everyone. I think it was because we watched all the cartoons and movies. So she saw her shows coming to life. I would suggest watching as many disney things as you can. My niece was terrified her first time though but she didn't watch them as much. The characters are really good about keeping their distance if they know someone is afraid. - warchanted 166.9 #2347 2-11-15 9:38AMLikeReply
Dont push your kid up on them when they dont want to be. Its annoying and the characters dont like it either plus it makes them hate them more - Dave 12206.7 #2 2-11-15 10:12AMLikeReply

Take it...nothing will happen to it. Just don't put it on the floor or wet counter tops (bathrooms). I highly doubt you'll go on daredevil adventures where it will suffer a dreadful accident. Thanks, you guys! You definitely got me leaning towards a GoPro! I've seen mixed opinions on picture quality. Are the pictures similar to a point and shoot camera's quality? Thanks again for your help!
I just got the new GoPro 4 Silver and it's awesome for those occasions when you have people in front of you and you don't want head shots in your way. It also takes movies and you don't need to worry about it getting out of focus. It comes with a few attachments, but I recommend buying the "selfie-stick", so there's no need to ask anyone to take your picture. 😃 - LaBelleParis 1159.2 #128 10-22-14 6:26PMLikeReply

Being an amateur photographer who shoots with a DSLR, the GoPro is good, but it only shoots in a wide angle, fish eye. If I were you, I would go with a more advanced point and shoot that does record good video also. - BaseballMickey_CM 6688.6 #11 10-22-14 8:28PMLikeReply

Items wrinkle less if you roll them. Place in a bag if your worried about glitter. When you get there just hang in the bathroom and the steam from the shower should take care of any wrinkles. Enjoy. - sewedna 379.9 #535 9-28-14 10:47PMLikeReply

I am so sorry! That does seem awful. As @MomWithAJuiceBoxBuzz said if there are underlying issue that would be typical. Once the anger and hurt subsides, I would make a heartfelt attempt to let her know that you were sad that you weren't able to see your nieces or nephews. In the meantime I wouldn't talk about this with other members of the family. Make this just between you and her. If she doesn't receive what you have to say, don't force it. You can't make others change. - RadiatorSprings4Ever 987.3 #164 9-13-14 6:05PMLike(2)Reply
Wow. Definite family issues. I would be very upset - Goofytom 1087.8 #143 9-13-14 3:32PMLike(1)Reply
It depends on your relationship. If you are close, then I would wait a couple weeks to get thru the emotions, then tell her you were bummed and could you come up for a visit . Maybe she was waiting for you to make a first move. But if you were not close to begin with, she probably would not want to call if she was spending time with her family, even if you LOVE Disneyland yourself. And when a parent dies it brings up for some many bad emotions and maybe she did not want to talk about it. I was left in charge, one sibling tried to make up for whatever she didn't get from my parent that she sued me. All I saw in trust probate court was grown up children who still had lots of issues. We prevailed in court but I saw the nastiness. Next time you talk to her maybe don't bring up your mom, tell her you would like to be closer but just wait and see, it is up to her to want that and it might take awhile. And as others above said, don't discuss this with Anyone else in the family. That is what causes all our disputes, and it makes you wonder why the other person told you. I hope someday you can be as close as you want to be! - secretagentangel 1348.6 #107 9-13-14 11:02PMLikeReply
Honestly I would be hurt to and as angry as you have every right to be, wait until you cool down to talk to her. Just remember, for own health, and peace of mind forgive her. Her actions have very little to do with who you are. Biggest mistake u can do is take it personal because her actions were all her and her own issues, not yours - MarshaMouse 4093.5 #25 9-13-14 11:31PMLikeReply
Thanks everyone! I will be so sad if we don't get to go on IASM. :/
In my experience, the fireworks were Xmas already but the parade doesn't start Until the official date. IASW has been open prior to the start date also but there may be times it isn't. I would wait to see what the calendar on Disney says for it to be official - brodysmommy 393.4 #516 9-13-14 3:15PMLikeReply
In not sure about IASW or the parade, but I'm pretty sure most of the decor is up a few days before (maybe just a few last minute touches missing), so you'll have the Christmassy feel. - Spoonful_O_Sugar 569.4 #318 9-13-14 3:18PMLikeReply
The transformation for Xmas time at the. Parks begins very early. The parks start being decorated for Xmas time starting in mid October...the back portions of the parks are decorated first and make their way towards the front...you will see snow on the castle before October is over and holiday merchandise in stores...after Halloween Time ends its a mad dash to place the final decor for the holidays in the front portions of the parks...you will see most holiday decor up before the official start of the holidays and the Xmas tree is put up too :-) IASM holiday version opens up as Xmas time in the parks officially begins :-) - uscdisneyteacher 7223.7 #8 9-13-14 3:21PMLikeReply

I think this is a great idea but it kinda stinks that you can't meet them at all unless you're there right at opening or within an hour or two. We come from SD and have a 3 year old so it's tough with traffic and whatnot to get there that early. Hopefully in the next few weeks before Halloween picks up crowds again I can make it up around 11 and they still have some passes left! - DisneyLuvinMama 340.7 #634 9-2-14 10:46PMLikeReply

I think that the "golden" age is different for every kid. In my opinion, the best time is when they are old enough to ride most rides without being too scared, yet young enough to still believe in all of the magical experiences that make Disney so special. - angelaprkns 10.3 #9524 8-21-14 4:53PMLikeReply

I don't know if there truly is a magical age. I think every kid and every adult is different. I think it all depends on the situation and the trip. I'm sure taking my granddaughter for her first trip will be very magical for me and my kids. But for her will probably be later on in life - grumpyinphx 282.7 #945 8-22-14 8:19AMLikeReply
