I had just moved to Indiana for a job. My grandpa made the drive from CA with me. Early that morning I drove him to Indy to for his flight home. The first plane probably hit during the short flight from Indy to O'Hare. His plane was the next to take off when they closed the airports. I didn't have TV yet so the first two days all I heard was the audio from the news with the occasional grainy picture. My grandfather was stuck in Chicago until the planes were flying again. He was gouged the first night for a room, but he & others from his flight moved together the next day. I was glad he wasn't alone. - ythdudette608.0 #228 9-11-13 10:04AMLike(1)Reply

I was in sixth grade. The teachers tried to hide facts as to not scare kids but I was pulled out of class and we drove to check on my uncle (he lives on the opposite side of the river in downtown). I still hadn't seen anything or knew anything other than what I was told by my parents. When we got to my uncles apartment is seemed chaotic and I finally saw what was happening on a TV. We went to the roof and I watched in horror as I saw smoke billow from the beautiful city I was born in. I was young but I knew how horrible this was and cried. You could smell the smoke across the river and hear endless sirens. It took me years before I could get myself to go near ground zone again and every time I do, I weep. - missmimi90912.7 #129 9-11-13 12:21PMLikeReply

Skipper states at the beginning of the tour "Who woke up this morning and said, I HAVE to go on the Jungle Cruise today? I DO, every morning". Then something about "every 7 minutes"
Last night the skipper said "there's a boa in a tree. H-I-S-S-I-N-G. First comes love.......then asphyxiation." I laughed at that one and he said to me "oh, you know what marriage is like." I laughed more and he said "getting a little too real, huh?" - duckymomo34.6 #4586 9-2-13 8:25AMLike(4)Reply

Hey Doc, I think you and many other MWers know what my wife and I do... My wife is an acute care nurse practitioner specializing in cardiology as well as an associate professor for UCSF's masters of nursing program. That right, I married one incredibly smart and caring person. As for me, I am a career naval officer with 23+ years of active duty having spent 19 of those years serving with explosive ordnance disposal mobile units. I am medically retiring out this year after losing my ulna nerve in my right arm in addition to having the arm dislocated, rotator cuff torn, shoulder impingement, dislocated rib, 1 compressed vertebrae and 1 herniated disc due to an IED encounter. I'm doing much better after my last procedure which almost a year ago...thank you all who supported me when I did the Tough Mudder last month and I am running Sausalito's Save the Seals run tomorrow, as well as Pleasanton's Tri for Real triathlon and Half Moon Bay's Splash and Dash in September! - BombFrog399.7 #424 8-16-13 8:44PMLike(7)Reply

We bought ours last week and we are 7 hours away, we are going to MAKE this work.
According to my GPS, from where I'm sitting in my living room it is 344 miles and it would take 4 hours and 18 minutes to get to the parking structure. I've made it to the parks 50 or so times since I got my AP in July. Of course it helps to have family live in LA so I don't have to pay for a motel room. I have the USB adapted for my iPhone and iPad, hook the camera to either one and the upload the pictures that way.
You could also invest in an Eye-Fi card which sends pictures from your camera to your phone. I know a lot of MWers have one when taking pics in the park. - IDVandalSkipperCM1612.3 #62 6-14-13 4:00PMLike(2)Reply
Next time, if you don't do eyefi, get an extra memory card for your phone with the adaptor, put it in your camera with the adaptor, save the photos like normal, when you want to share, just switch it to your phone. saves a lot of battery life on your phone too. i have both but have been doing the memory card switch more now. - secretagentangel1014.8 #111 6-14-13 4:40PMLikeReply
