This is so exciting. I know a lot of people aren't happy to see Starbucks in the parks but if you think about it Disneyland has built itself on partnerships with other brands. If you dislike Starbucks for "ruining" the Disney magic then think about how you would feel about not having Dole whips or those Kodak photo spots that were a part of the park for so long or look across the street and explain why Coke Corner is any different. Think back to when Disneyland first opened, it was filled with various brands, like the Chicken of the Sea pirate ship. In a way adding Starbucks to the park is more true to Disney than not adding it. Not to mention it will be nice to actually be able to buy a good cup of coffee in the parks, and know exactly what I want to order when I do it. Thank you for the update, TrampsLady, can't wait to see it for myself! - MallE1147.0 #2497 9-2-13 4:52PMLike(12)Reply
Here is the history behind the Starbucks siren: In 2006, Valerie O'Neil, a Starbucks spokeswoman, said that the logo is an image of a "twin-tailed mermaid, or siren as she's known in Greek mythology". The logo has been significantly streamlined over the years. In the first version, which was based on a 16th-century "Norse" woodcut, the Starbucks siren was topless and had a fully visible double fish tail. The image also had a rough visual texture and has been likened to amelusine. In the second version, which was used from 1987–92, her breasts were covered by her flowing hair, but her navel was still visible. The fish tail was cropped slightly, and the primary color was changed from brown to green, a nod to Bowker's Alma Mater, the University of San Francisco. In the third version, used between 1992 and 2011, her navel and breasts are not visible at all, and only vestiges remain of the fish tails. The original "woodcut" logo has been moved to the Starbucks' Headquarters in Seattle. - Alicewhoareyou677.7 #198 9-2-13 3:49PMLike(3)Reply
It's not too many starbucks! For people who just visit DTD who want Starbucks, for people with 1-Park tickets who want starbucks need one in DCA and Disneyland :) Although Starbucks seems overrated it's just more convenient imo for those of us with green/gold cards or giftcards from birthdays and christmas from co-workers or classmates :) & you know what you want to order. oh & frappuccinos that many coffee shops don't have.. yum. - Jenniferr506.6 #286 8-15-13 1:00PMLike(9)Reply
Actually that's just a Memorial site for the Family . The Remains are in the Mausoleum .
This is one of the nicests things I've read---if it had not been for Mr. Disney's dream and ambition I wouldn't be HAPPILY employed today as a CM. It's something I'm very proud of and I'm sure most CMs feel the same way. - CM_Tamstirr489.7 #304 7-21-13 9:37PMLike(4)Reply

Is the next poll around here going to be our annual net incomes? Trust fund kids or not? Places we frequent daily besides DL (stalker patterns)? How much we have in savings? If we own homes or rent? Blood type? - Sweet_Irish_Cream3425.3 #23 2-27-13 3:39PMLike(8)Reply

I wish I could have gone to the park today. I had a wonderful time yesterday with my 2 year old granddaughter. She got to see her first night time parade. I got to do my first RAK, giving a pair of Minnie Mouse slippers to Stitch_Legacy. I might go to the park tomorrow in the rain.
Sweet dreams everyone. - FairyGrandmother148.9 #2473 2-8-13 12:14AMLike(2)Reply

So I was in the Cal State Fullerton lockdown today... I was stuck in my horrid art class for almost 8 hours... Good side: it was our very last class of the semester, PLUS the president of Nickelodeon was a guest speaker in the room next door, and he was stuck with us. Downside: it was pouring rain when they released us, and I, being the genius I am, was wearing slippers. They completely soaked through and I just ended up going barefoot the rest of the way. PLUS I had all my art projects with me, and all but one got ruined by the rain. Now I can happily say that I am fed, dry, and as cozy as a dormouse in a teapot. 😊🐭☕☔ - CM_LionGeek352.7 #516 12-13-12 2:29AMLikeReply
