Try using an app called WAZE. I use it everytime I drive to the parks. It will automatically reroute you due to traffic issues. It also make you aware of the authorities patrolling the roads. Very useful. - TangledsDad 246.0 #1329 7-2-15 5:39PMLikeReply

I go with the family and the lil one gets tired i walk them back to the hotel so they can rest and i go back by myself. One time i spent 5 hrs by myself. It was a blast!! - spacemountainman 14.1 #8208 6-28-15 12:43AMLikeReply
We did the dinner at River Belle Terrace last wknd ($41 before AP discount, well worth it) and had a front and center seat for the show. Highly recommend!
Unfortunately the days of getting there early and hugging the fence are over. There is a FP system now for Fantasmic and stand-by viewing locations if you don't have a FP. There are STILL Fantasmic dining packages with special viewing locations. I have not done them yet but I have heard they are very good spots. - Donaldfan_532 238.8 #1416 6-27-15 9:37AMLikeReply

thx. I made res @ Blue Bayou for dining package w/fastpass. At least I'll get a nice meal and hopefully a good area to watch the show. Alas I will have to leave the selfie stick I bought for this trip at hotel. LOL - nitromouse 285.9 #942 6-27-15 9:55AMLikeReply

Today was The Hubs first official day of retirement. Of course a few days in the parks to celebrate this coming week. Hoping to meet some MWers Tues evening
Hi! I'm s first time poster to the up late thread. The craziest thing we've experienced at DL occurred in April. We were staying for the weekend at the DL Hotel for my daughter's birthday. I booked a plain standard (parking lot view) room. At check in, we were told that we were the 'family of the day", and gbey put us in the Big Thunder Ranch Suite! It was amazing! - DisneyCREWmom 138.3 #2830 6-26-15 10:24PMLike(3)Reply
I hope I'm not repeating myself too soon, as I recently told this story in another post, but back in Jan. '95 my dad was waiting and holding spots for us for Fantasmic that could have been canceled because it had rained late in the afternoon. The ground a half hour before the show was damp and there were some puddles in certain spots. He was sitting against a wall wearing a yellow Mickey poncho with the hood over his head. A man saw my dad and tried to sit on him and jumped up pretty scared when my dad yelled "Hey!" He said he thought my dad was a bag of trash and he was looking for something dry to sit on while he saved spots for his own family to see Fantasmic. Pretty funny! 😆😂😁 - Catski23 5.1 #0 6-26-15 10:37PMLike(2)Reply
One time when I was at the Dooneyland park I met Mitchie Moose and his girl Mindy. They were earthy salts and seasoned entertainers, starring in films since 1828, I think the same year Columbus found Puerto Rico. It was a simpler time, a tastier time. We used to ride the Iger Sanction attraction and often would play pin the tail on the donkey in Small Animal Sovereignty, back then they called it Ursa Major still, it used to be a working Indian Casino with real live casinos before that. Well one day wouldn't you know it, the Dooneyland subway stopped right in the middle of its venti square tour of the park. They had to bring in helicopters to lift people into submarine sandwiches so they could make it in time for lunch. I've never seen so many churros as I did that day. Well that's my story, and I'm sticking to it. - BeatleMike 630.4 #294 6-27-15 2:48AMLikeReply
Since we are lucky enough to visit Disneyland a few times each year as a family, my Disney dream would be a family Disney cruise/Disney World vaca.
Just to be there, with my family and friends, spending the day and night laughing, having a great time, and making lots of memories. I'm a no frills sort of gal, so it's the simple pleasures that make my heart sing. - DarthTinkerbell 414.4 #496 6-26-15 10:49AMLike(11)Reply
Hello and welcome. Cathay Circle lounge is s great quick stop for a great snack and cocktail. Make time to attend the flag retreat, it may bring treats to your eyes. We do or best to see it every visit.
Here goes...There are no Magic Bands at DL or DCA, so all FastPasses are with your ticket at FastPass machines by each each participating ride. Some like the Matterhorn and Finding Nemo do not have FPs. Radiator Springs Racers in DCA is nearly always busy. Go to DCA first thing in the morning for FPs. The machines are to the right of the Carthay Circle near the entrance to Bugs Land. Also, the FP systems are different For each parks. If you have Park Hopper Tickets, you can get FPs for each park without the usual time restriction. And most important, follow wait times on Mousewait. 😀 Enjoy the Magic! - 50sKid 242.4 #1380 6-24-15 12:13PMLike(7)Reply
Oh my gosh! You are going to have so much fun! I'm here now----you MUST 1-see our new fireworks (hard to say where to watch---has a cool part where Matterhorn looks like a volcano and projections on the castle with tink and Nemo flying-so in front of the castle is primo----but Main Street has projections and surprises on buildings too and they project on small world and even over the Rivers of America-so that is an option too) 2-MUST see our Paint The Night (electrical) Parade (maybe catch the very last parade if you can't wait for a spot ahead of time, 3-get fast pass for Fantasmic (or make a reservation for a River Bell Terrace dining or Blue Bayou fantasmic dining and get PREFERRED excellent viewing area....you have to watch it---it's different than at WDW - I think better but no stadium seating-so the dining reservation is a great option, and 4- you MUST see World of Color light show at DCA -- it is spectacular too! Get a FP for it too (getting the FP for WOC and Fantasmic doesn't count against other Fast Passes you hold-so get them! ;) and there are reservations you can get at 2 restaurants that will give you preferred viewing for WOC-but not as necessary in my opinion than FantasmicHope this helps for your night shows!!! (And WELCOME!)✨ - TinkerSchelle 1674.1 #92 6-24-15 1:18PMLike(5)Reply
Single Rider is a great option for radiator springs racers. Wife and I did it, ended up in same car, just different row. Only took like 20 mins. Also.....POST THOSE WAIT TIMES!!!!! Have a great time! - Voycekids 13.1 #8553 6-24-15 8:15PMLikeReply
They made a prosthetic arm patterned after a Star Wars robot for a seven year old the other day from a 3D printer. Disney was somehow a sponsor or donated it. The story is on abc7.com - secretagentangel 1696.5 #88 1-19-15 1:01AMLike(4)Reply
Tip: ask for this (or any potato) with the butter (or the butter substitute that they use) on the side...........they plop a TON of it on the potatoes, enough that they soak through the lining and drip everywhere......... - georgieporgie 183.6 #2126 12-30-14 5:09PMLike(2)Reply

Congrats! MW was awesome durin those first few weeks in the middle of the night. I took my LO at 3 months. I have seen a 10 day old baby at the park recently. My concern this time of year would be the flu and colds going around. I personally waited until my baby had her 2 month shots and given them to kick in. - IDVandalSkipperCM 2358.8 #53 11-21-13 7:20AMLike(1)Reply

@couchpups Just FYI, I've seen mentioned on here that the crowd index is actually the attendance from the prior year and not specific to that day.... news to me as well as I was doing the same thing you are since I'll be in the park in 2 weeks. I've read on here that the true method of knowing what you seek is to check out the wait times. I've also read in Frommer's Disney that most people take the counterclock ways path around the park. P.S. Don't forget to enter in wait times yourself when you are in the park. It really helps the app and it'll add points to your ranking. Have a great time! - MrsGoodface 58.9 #4259 10-29-13 11:24AMLikeReply

I'm feeling extra mushy tonight so I'll share a story: I was standing behind my bar 10 minutes before we lock the doors and close for the night. Kitchen was clean, beer was stocked I was ready to go home. All of a sudden no less then 10 cars pull into the parking lot and all these people start piling out. I was like oh heck no, I wanna go home. I was fully prepared to explain and apologize that we were closed when an older gentleman walked in surrounded by close to 40 young men and women. He explained that he just buried his only son who was 19 and was killed in Iraq. The soldiers he was with served with his son and some were high school friends. He wanted to know if they could have a few beers and reminisce. I choked back my tears and started opening beer bottles. I paid the kitchen guys out of my pocket to open up and send out some appetizers. Yeah it was probably against the law but I didn't card any of them, I figure if they can be over there carrying a gun and risking their lives for our country they could have a dang beer. I only charged them for half of what they consumed. I watched for 2 hours while they all laughed, hugged and shared stories with the father of the fallen soldier. He even came over to thank me and share stories...wearing a button with his son's picture on it. All I could manage to say to each of them that night was thank you...thank you for your service. Okay..sorry that was long and happened 8 years ago, but it's still so fresh. Please add me, thank you!! - Linzee 1080.3 #157 10-15-13 10:32PMLike(30)Reply
Wow, this is an incredibly generous RAK. Please add me. We always thank service men or women when we see them. In fact, we have taught our boys to do the same. When we see someone in uniform, my boys will ask if they can thank them for their service. It's important the next generation appreciates and acknowledges the sacrifice and commitment. Thank you for this incredible RAK and reminder for all of us. - goofymom2boys 1466.7 #102 10-15-13 5:37PMLike(4)Reply
