I ran into Tony Baxter tonight and ended up having the most amazing conversation for 45 mins about the old Carnation Gardens from one Former CM to another to all sorts of amazing stuff we went back and forth about in regards to Journey in More...
So Tony was by himself and I have talked to him a lot over the years but never anything like tonight....I was going over to Fantasy Fair after dinner at Napa and of course I recognized him and just went up and started talking and said...Its strange that when I remember coming here as a kid watching my grandparents dance this was a hamburger stand...he goes THAT WAS MY FIRST JOB AT THE PARKS EVER, then it just took off and was an unreal ride...He was telling me how cool it was that he saw Louie Armstrong play while he was working there and how Benny Goodman would come and play but at that time he had no idea how cool it really was...Then we started talking about a lot of the old people and how they were the ones who kept this place around and how big swing got again in the mid 90s and how they hope to still keep it there but he said he does not think that will happen. Then it was cool when we were talking about some of the back stage struggles in that area since I knew what was right behind and I found some of that to be the most interesting thing about the whole situation since I knew what he was talking about and he knew I did also but the couple people who were standing around waiting for a pic and autograph from him were clueless about...Then I went into my fav topic that I have never talked to him about which was Journey Into Imagination and old school Epcot,,,I talked a little about my childhood and love for Figment and the attraction and how its gone so far away from what it was supposed to be and then it was like I got zapped into a story by Tony all about Figment after I was telling him as a little kid the first thing I wanted to do was meet Figment and The Dreamfinder and then how when I grew up I always thought of the figures of Epcot were Figment and Epcot and not Mickey and Minnie........Then he told me a story about a family who came to the parks in the mid 80s and it was a make a wish child and when he met them it was the first time he had smiled in a few years...Seeing what happened they were so happy that Kodak who sponsored the attraction use to fly figment and the dreamfinder around to meet this kid until he passed away a few years later....Well this family was such a big deal to Disney and Kodak that they made them part of the pre show that was for kodak that had a song called Making Memories done by the Sherman brothers and Tony told me that everytime he would go into the attraction and the song and video would come on he would get choked up like no other....We talked for a long time and it was not like somebody asking questions it was just natural and we had an awesome conversation between two Disney fans and I will never forget it.. - Dave 8824.1 #2 3-14-13 10:58PMLike(41) Reply
Oh how cool that must have been. I would love to sit down with him and just listen. Did you at least ask him if he was enjoying his retirement. Man what a treat to have been able to have a conversation like that with a true legend. - pirate5150 7.4 #8128 3-15-13 12:19AM

*re-assembling self a-la T2 after being blown away by your awesomeness* it’s a good thing david and i were shooting a wedding yesterday when we read this. our teary faces blended right in with everyone else at the wedding :) we are so so happy for your ohana! david just made those necklaces for a little something fun. we had no idea they would be any part of such an amazing family moment. being at disneyland is awesome. (stipulated). being at disneyland with someone on their 1st visit is pretty rad, but there’s nothing quite like being there with a family member on their 1st visit. it’s a precious thing. sadly, after losing my dad to cancer last year, we will never get another family disney day with him :_( we treasure every trip we got to take with him. but enough of the sad faces. it’s happy time for swiss family churinson! senorita churita, your comments and posts always make us giggle. your tot avi is still our all time fav! hopefully we’ll get to meet you someday. if/when we do, we’ll treat you to an awesome dole whip...no, wait...a turkey leg... nope. what was it? think mcfly, think. oh yeah... a churro! :)

I posted this question earlier, but no one has commented. Is this the first time Disneyland hosts Dapper Day? - OynnhoJ92.5 #3160 2-5-12 4:14PMLike Reply
Dapper Day is independently organized and not associated with the Walt Disney Company. I believe it is the second annual Dapper Day for all Disney parks, but there is also one in the fall for Disneyland only. - Geekery 227.1 #1306 2-5-12 8:57PM

Oh they aren't!!! that's the trade off I said Vegas is so cliche we are a Disney family lets go there, u can have a blast on ur 21st there. We go to Vegas for sports so she knows what it's all about so I didn't have to twist that arm to hard - lisaw 96.3 #3118 1-10-12 8:02PM
I'm 22 and I'd much rather go to the parks then Vegas haha. Tortilla Joes in DTD has really delicious margaritas. 😊🍻 - pirateDJ20.1 #5144 1-12-12 9:57AMLike Reply

If you know anyone that works for Los Angeles city they get discounts on tickets. It's through la city employees club. Also Disneyland is offering military discounts right now. - LizzzyBelle25.3 #4729 12-30-11 8:49PMLike(1) Reply

How to make a Mickey ornament. Buy plastic ornaments, one large and two smaller. Instructions top to bottom: 1) Measure and mark on each side the same distance that looks good for ear placement. I marked at 1" down. Remove the hook caps from the two smaller ornaments. 2) Use a high temp glue gun tip to press into the ornament to form a hole big enough for the top of the smaller balls. 3) Add some hot glue to the top of the smaller ball and then press inside the hole. Hold until secure. Repeat on other side 4) Done! You can glue other embellishments on it as well. - DesperateMousewife873.8 #105 11-30-10 6:14PMLike(8) Reply

Just downloaded new ringtones for my phone! Woohoo!
If you have songs in your library there are several apps to make your own ringtones/alert tones. I'm not paying $.99 per tone or more. Save money and make your own pay $.99 for an app to make as many as you like! It's super easy too! - Wizard81.6 #3307 11-3-11 9:02AMLike(1) Reply

My aunt rents out four houses around the corner from Disneyland! I stay in them all the time! They are so nice with a pool spa steam shower. One sleeps 11, the others sleep more! Full Kitchen with everything you need and games and a pool table and stuff. I don't know the rates but it will sve you a lot of money cause you can cook! Plus, if you had another friend with a family you guys could get one together. I think one house sleeps like 20 people. So if you and another family payed half each it would be pretty cheap! :) - kaleighmungo189.9 #1788 6-6-11 2:55PMLike Reply
