I'm married to my childhood sweetheart. We have two beautiful daughters and two amazing son-in-laws, and our first Grandchild is on the way. We are all crazy about the Disney magic.
Spent all day at the hospital yesterday with my Mom as she had yet another procedure done. Sitting all day with no exercise has made me feel stiff today. I will try to go on a run during my lunch break. I did fairly well on my eating.. More...
How is your mom? Why is evening time so hard to avoid snacking? - Mrs.mouse420.9 #306 4-18-13 11:47PMLike Reply
We just got a call from the oncologist who wants to see her today. Heading out shortly to go with her, so should know more then. But I'm bracing myself because it hasn't been good news so far.
I did better with my snacking last night...finally! Just had a glass of Pellegrino with some lime (instead of the glass of wine I really wanted), and no snacks. WOOO HOOO! It's a start. - D55CR 245.4 #1051 4-19-13 11:17AM
With you again. I did great all day then after dinner sat there and started looking around for things to eat. Started with low-fat string cheese (not too bad) then moved on to a sugar-free fudgecicle (still not terrible) then hit the pecan pieces (should have stopped at the fudgecicle). Hope mom does better tomorrow...too bad our "late nights" are in different time zones. We could meet up on MW and talk ourselves out of eating! - msdizmaui519.0 #224 4-19-13 12:57AMLike Reply
I like how your snacks aren't too bad. I kinda don't want to admit what my snacks are. - Mrs.mouse 420.9 #306 4-19-13 1:56AM
Not sure why, but the night time is the hardest. Oh well....we just keep trying, right? - D55CR 245.4 #1051 4-19-13 11:18AM

I ran in honor of Boston today....2.5 miles. I am also wearing my Neverland 5K race t-shirt today. My heart is broken, but my spirit is not. The bad guys don't get to win.
I didn't run today as I'm still recovering from this cold. But I wore my Tink shirt in support of those affected in Boston. My heart is broken for them as well. - vernswifevickie350.5 #412 4-16-13 8:15PMLike(1) Reply
Good morning, All! Happy Thursday to you. I don't know about you, but I could use some inspiration this week. I keep starting my days off right, but end up stress snacking in the evenings. I know better....but at that point in the day More...
I love to have sweets before bed. I found if I allow myself the correct portion vs not at all, I don't feel the need to shovel 10 Oreos in my face when I cave and buy sweets because I haven't had them in so long. Lol.
I stress eat too and it's difficult. Maybe have a bunch of pre-portioned healthy snacks ready to go in the fridge? I think I'm going to try that. - Fanatic4Disney258.0 #929 4-11-13 12:16PMLike Reply
For me it's the salty foods I crave (and another glass of wine! haha). But planning ahead is a good idea. Thanks, - D55CR 245.4 #1051 4-11-13 3:25PM
I know! I have the same issue. I've found that 10-15 mins of stretching, yoga, or Pilates actually really helps--it curbs the need to snack and helps me manage my stress level and relax before bed. When all else fails, I brush and floss or use white strips, lol, because I don't like the taste of food after the mint flavor and I don't want to have to brush my teeth again! Also, I've been known to paint my nails because it distracts me and I have to wait for the polish to dry. Recently, my husband and I have been reading books aloud to each other in the evening, and that's a really nice distraction from zoning out in front of the TV with snacks: I can't eat because I have to read! Plus, it's just a really positive hobby for us to have :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar436.3 #285 4-11-13 3:17PMLike Reply
These are some great ideas. Just getting away from the TV will help. :0) I tend to want to veg out in front of the tube after a long, stressful day....but I know there are better and more constructive ways to handle my stress. - D55CR 245.4 #1051 4-11-13 3:27PM
I have the same problem as you...night time snacking is my downfall every time (including, I'm sad to say, tonight!). I think I'll try the exercise idea - play a Jedi mind trick on myself...every time I get up to go to the kitchen, I'll make myself do knee bends or something instead. That, and QUIT buying the crap that I snack on!!! - msdizmaui519.0 #224 4-15-13 1:13AMLike Reply
The "stop buying" thing never worked for me. I end up craving it after a few days and scarffing down a bunch when my kids are at school. What worked for me was subsituting for something not as bad and having half a serving. Apple vines work good. - GoofyMom77 108.9 #2925 4-16-13 8:34PM
Ran a couple of miles this morning. Feels good to be getting back to it. Now, if I can just stop snacking at night....

Last night I managed to sip on a glass of white wine for the evening and didn't snack after dinner. It was hard (especially when my hubby sat there with chips and my favorite Dubliner cheese!), but I did it. Whew! One night down....many more to go. - D55CR 245.4 #1051 3-26-13 3:42PM

So sorry to hear about your mom. My life has been all about my mom's health issues since Oct. 2011 when she took a bad fall (on her head)! If you ever want to "talk", dm me and I'll give you my email address. I can certainly relate to what you're going through (and my eating and diet has definitely suffered through all of it!). Hang in there (and best wishes for Mom!). - msdizmaui519.0 #224 3-15-13 1:10AMLike Reply
Thanks, MsDizMaui. I appreciate the offer very much. The move is keeping me very busy today, but it sneaks up on me every so often and I stop to have a good cry. This is really hard on my Dad, too. I'm worried about how he is handling all of this. Last time she was in the hospital, he ended up passing out from all the stress. Luckily my brother lives very close and is a huge support. - D55CR 245.4 #1051 3-15-13 8:17AM
I'm here if you ever need to talk! I would love to say that it gets easier, but it really doesn't. I still have moments that I'm so sad that I can't function! It's just so awful that one instance can have such an effect on life. At least Mom's still with us...just not the same. Hang in there! - msdizmaui 519.0 #224 3-17-13 11:09PM

For me it's a combination of there being to many tires in the small area... It's really hard to pick up speed when your constantly bumping into someone or the barriers... Also I had the fortune of riding it when the purpose was to throw huge beach balls around, while trying to maneuver. A taste of honey I guess you'd call it. 😒 - BambooMike 122.0 #2701 11-29-12 12:12PM
