I have been reading posts about marathons, so I looked into the Tinkerbell one in January. As I was reading the info, I honestly started to feel a little sick to my stomach. I would love to do this, but am wondering if I would be getting More...
I felt the same way before I signed up for the half marathon in Sept. I thought I could never run 13 miles in one go. But now that I've started training using a run/walk method, it seems much more doable. If you really don't think you could be ready by January you can wait, but I think you probably could do it, especially if you start training now. It's plenty of time to start very slow; like run for 10 seconds every few minutes until you start feeling more comfortable. - TamiPoppins39.7 #4003 6-29-11 12:55PMLike Reply
@TamiPoppins, thank you so much. Is the goal to eventually be able to jog most of the way or do the run walk method the entire time? - tram199512.6 #6116 6-29-11 2:14PMLike Reply
Hi Tram! If you start now (6 months prior), you should do fine--it's surprising how fast the body adapts. Don't be afraid to use the run/walk method--in fact, I was just reading an article that said it's actually better to run/walk races. It's easier on your joints, and you preserve your energy to make it through the whole thing without burning out. There are plenty of websites that post training plans for different kinds of races and different levels of running. It might be a good idea to sign up for a 5k and a 10k in the fall so that you have small goals to help you build up to the half marathon. Hope this helps :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar436.2 #285 6-30-11 8:52PMLike Reply

City Hall told me the same thing some months ago. But then I remembered that I was supposed to go to the train station and all was right again with the magical world of DL. @DPF the funny thing is if you use foursquare, the Lilly Belle shows up as a speakeasy. So maybe city hall has to give the official answer and it's really an "in the know" type of place ;) - cesium55529.7 #216 6-28-11 2:16PMLike Reply

It is sooooo hard to work out when you are sick. I did it today and I felt like I hadn't worked out in years! I kept going though and just reduced the intensity. It was difficult, but I did it.
I've learned the hard way. If you're sick just take a day or two (or more) and get better. - deadmou5338.6 #4039 6-27-11 12:46AMLike Reply
It's hard, isn't it?! If you just have a head cold, it's actually good to do a light workout (pilates, yoga, walking). But if you have a chest cold, flu, fever of any kind, or more serious infection, you should let your body rest. The rule of thumb is this: if you're sick above your neck (stuffy nose, etc.), it's ok to lightly workout; if you're sick below your neck (chest congestion, fever, vomiting, etc), then you need to wait. Hope you feel well soon! - Spoonful_O_Sugar436.2 #285 6-27-11 7:33AMLike Reply

1 or 2 complaints about RAKs I overlook, but there have been enough for me to really notice it. No reason for anyone to explain themselves, sometimes it very easy to overlook the meaning behind something especially when you put time and effort into creating a RAK. I understand how it can be frustrating bc you want people to enjoy what you are giving away, but occasionally we all need to refocus on the true meaning of RAKs - michelledork658.3 #159 6-26-11 12:39PMLike Reply

I really feel for Mom's today (my youngest is 30...lol!). Planning is definately the most important thing with any "diet". My greatest challenge is to remember to buy the "good" food (I used to do Jenny Craig which was a no-brainer). If I don't have good stuff, I'm more apt to eat bad stuff! I would suggest getting some Lean Cuisine frozen meals (B'fast, lunch and dinner) to keep on hand when there's no time to prepare anything! I do weight watchers. It's super easy at the parks. Just gotta be crafty! Bengal BBQ serves grilled veggies for no points. And skewers of chicken and beef which are about 4 points each, give or take. All the stand have fresh fruit. If you need a treat opt for a plain caramel apple or dole whip. They're about 5 points each. Lots of the places have vegan options that are low in points. Rancho del Zolcala offers veggies in place of beans and rice too. - AlishaSkellington175.2 #1924 5-22-11 7:44AMLike Reply
Thank you all for the wonderful suggestions. I need to start looking into everything. Thanks again. - tram199512.6 #6116 5-23-11 10:59PMLike Reply
I do WW as well but while I'm on vacation I really don't follow it all that well. The fruit carts on Main St would be a good option for 0 point items. Last time I went to DL ate a ton and gained 0lbs - all the walking must have counteracted the weight gain haha. - underthesea82273.3 #3352 5-23-11 11:33PMLike Reply
I was just wondering if anyone can offer advice on what I need for the upcoming reunion? I am new to mw. Just celebrated my 1 week anniversary. The reunion sounds so wonderful and I would love to go. I see others have shirts, buttons, etc More...
What was I thinking? It had only been 4 days. Time flys on mw! - tram199512.6 #6116 5-11-11 8:30AMLike Reply
Just show up in normal park gear and enjoy! - GoofyJoe1864.1 #41 5-11-11 8:31AMLike Reply
I suggest you meet at least one MWer before the event, in the parks just so it can ease you into meeting a TON of people all at once. I think I heard last year that a few people felt overwhelmed. - Marieeezy588.9 #186 5-11-11 11:20AMLike Reply
You just find the person that is giving the item away. They will post what they are wearing and what attraction they are going to so you just have to find them. - robman97355.4 #402 5-8-11 11:43AMLike Reply
