Thanks to all of you for posting such great pictures and maintaining the Disneyland attitude. It's nice to have somewhere to go to from home and always find positive things to read and see
Just curious...for all you past and present cm. Does Disneyland lose some "magic" once you work there or is it as "magical" as before you started working?
As a current CM speaking from experience, for a while the magic is lost, especially as you're trying to figure out the ins and outs of your job and how you fit in to the puzzle. Eventually, though, you rediscover the magic: whether by talking with a guest on their first visit, hearing a touching story, or actually being in the park as a guest and just observing. I work at Opera House and I love standing outside greeting guests and watching the character interactions nearby. I often end up tearing up because of how sweet the moment is or hearing parents say to their children for the first time that they're at Disneyland and "look! There's Mickey and Minnie!" You also have to remember that you help make the magic. If the magic disappears for you, maybe you have to go find that situation where you can help someone rediscover the magic as well. Personally, I want to work there someday and honestly I don't mind if it loses some magic. As long as it means that I'm bringing magic to guests' trips, then it doesn't matter :) and I feel like that will keep the Disney magic alive for me. I was a CM for a short time. I was still a minor in high school but I loved it! I got a bit overwhelmed with school, I had another job too and I'd get scheduled against my availability a lot. Eventually my parents made me resign.. I had to call-in for prom, my bday, and graduation bc it didn't get approved even though I submitted it months in advance.. Kind of rough but I did love being a part of the magic and sometimes really wish I had toughed it out! Trying to decide between staying at the Grand or Disneyland Hotel for our next visit. I have 2 small boys, which hotel would you all recommend for them?

I'm looking for one right now too. So far I've found that canon rebels work nicely, have great features, and have the most for your money. I used them in y photo classes back in high school and I have a film rebel. Nothing but greatness. We do a kiva.org donation... The kids get to select the recipient, and min donation of $25 is manageable... Then they get to follow the progress as that individual repays their loan. I like that it teaches both stewardship as well as responsibility for what we borrow... Doing well by doing good... I am an engineer & although I love everything "Disney" I don't think I can handle being an imagineer. @ seaotter you'll see cm wearing khaki visits and blue shorts with a camera all over. First one we always hit is in front of the train station when you walk in. Have them take you pictures we always break into smaller groups and a big group shot then they give you a card to keep. We've stayed at all 3. Paradise pier was cool, Disney hotel, was dated, and the Grand was awesome. We prefer to stay at neighbor hotels though because the only thing we do at the hotel is sleep. Well technically I'm in-state, but far enough away that I may as well be out-of-state (Sacramento). When our kids were young we went 3-5 times per year. One time on a very rare not busy day during summer there was NO ONE else on our boat on jingle cruise so once we got around the bend from the dock PEM was like "stop sit down and tell me stuff about dland I don't know" he was kinda caught off guard and said "really" and PEM was like "of course we've heard this 1000 times she (meaning me) could say the whole thing from memory" so he promptly took off his hat, handed me the mic, and said "go for it kid" which is like my ALL TIME DREAM.
