Omg I'm so excited. My hubby and I are taking our 3 and 4 year old boys and meeting my sister-in-law and her family. I have only been once to DL and that was Christmas 2010. How will I sleep these next few days!!

What are the trick or treat parties? How much and does that mean the park closes early?
The park does close early, the parties are held Tuesday and Fridays from Sept 30 though Oct with the last party Halloween night. The cost varies depending on which night you go and if you have an AP. It’s a special event with multiple dance parties, characters including Disney Villains, lots of candy stations. It’s the only time an adult can wear a costume in to the park. We usually stay at the Best Western Park Place Inn because it it literally right at the crosswalk to the entrance. It's nothing fancy but it's always been clean when we've stayed there. Also the rooms have microwaves and fridges which is nice. - Hesatalkintome

Joined last year. Bought in at Grand Cali Villas. Used it for the first time recently at Saratoga Springs, WDW. We stayed in a 1 BR; everything inside was very nice-- equivalent to the nicer Disney hotels, but with more amenities. Having the washer & dryer really helped us in packing less stuff. The DVC CMs are very helpful. There are many non-Disney places you can stay. Key issue is the economics-- you need to evaluate how will be vacationing long term-- depending on your plans, it may not be right for you. Recommend looking into buying in secondary market so you know what is available-- we got GCV for a really good price because they were closing it out. Talk to the CM's at the DVC info booths and go over to the preview center. I didn't feel that Disney hardsold us, so don't worry about them pressuring you. Should talk to Admin too as he and his family have been members for years. There is a referral bonus for existing members that new members can give when they sign up. Main thing is to do your homework and honestly assess your longterm vacation style and planning-- DVC is a long term commitment. - SorcererDuck

Disneyland & DCA brings magic. The others may be restrictive because of height requirements for rides. Legoland if they are INFATUATED with legos. If not... I'm still gonna push the DL resort :) - PrincessSarah

Universal is not all that exciting, especially for young ones. I went to the Legoland in Denmark when I was 9 (way before the one in Carlsbad opened) and had a great time but I'm not sure a 3 and 4 year old would enjoy it. Knott's has a land for young ones but not as fun as DL. It depends on how much you want to spend and how many places you want to go. I would suggest trying to spend quality time at one or two rather than cramming more into one vacation. - LilSterner

We have 1 and 3 1/2 year olds. we have taken them to knotts once only because my wife won tickets. it wasn't that fun and we won't be going back any time soon. However this last year we took the girls 25 - 30 times to DL and DCA while my youngest knows what small world is and get all excited it seems that no matter how many times we go we all have a blast!!! There really is a lot to do. Just check out all of the shows and there are all kinds of attractions for the whole family! We hope to top our record and go even more this year! - MedievalMickey

Yup... lol I feel like DL is about timing, company, attitude and Adventure... so there aer indeed times where I get bored so I just leave and come back another time (only works for a Premium AP holder...) and I think being able to come and go as I please has also put me in a spot to take it all in at my own pace and all that so yeah... No we are actually in Canada and it is a long trip. I noticed the heights and restrictions and it seems like there is alot that they can not enjoy. I am thinking WDW is a few more years away for us and save some money and just go back to DL! - MissNDisney

I also went in early August and it was wonderful! The weather was hot, but bearable. There were warm afternoon showers every day, but nothing that would stop you from roaming the parks. MK and Epcot where pretty empty for summer and I don't remember bumping into crowds for waiting very long in line. - LisaKL

Maybe it's just me but it seems like all the hotels close to DL are very outdated. You would think with all the money they are making that they would keep up on things.

We are planning our second vacation to Disneyland with a 3 and 4 year old. What would be the best hotel to stay for a good price and is it better to stay close to the park or stay at a nearby hotel and take shuttles?
It is probably better to stay somewhere close that you can walk to instead of having to worry about a shuttle. We have stayed at Tropicana, Fairfield inn and desert suites. All are within walking distance and really nice. Mcdonalds is right between Fairfield and Tropicana. - Disneybusmama5

So it has been almost two weeks since we returned from Disneyland and I have not been posting on MW because it makes me sad. We are so far away and I do not forsee returning for atleast a year. Sure wish we were closer.

Feeling sad today because we got back from DL last week and I am already wanting to go back. Wished I lived closer than 1700 miles. :(
We missed World of Color Aladdin talking with Crush the pixar parade and the grizzly river ride because my 2 year old got really sick on our last day. So sad:(. Maybe one day we will make it back there. - MissNDisney

Last night we had dinner at goofys kitchen for my sons 4th bday. I was very disappointed!!! If it was not for the awesome Pluto CM that played with my son it would have been a complete disappointment!!!

Did you speak to a manager? Explain why it was not good? Cause it's a autotip location I have gone to the manager told how bad the waiter was and we had to keep asking for drinks. He refunded the tip and gave me 2 return passes for attractions. I disagree with autotip unless you have people that are right on top of the guest request. - GoofyJoe

What are your fun Christmas day traditions? This year will be so fun as we are going to DL and my two sons understand what Christmas is!!!!! So excited!
Going to midnight mass at church than sleeping for a little. Exchange gifts with family then we visit our friends' houses and drop off gifts. Then all of us being musicians, we have a little mini concert dedricated to Christmas. Then we watch It's a Wonderful Life and either Mickey's Christmas Carol or Charlie Brown's Christmas. Marshmallows on a stick dipped in caramel, then orange flavored chocolate. Drizzles with dark chocolate to look like tigger tails. The new tigger tails are covered in sparkly sugar, which I'm not a fan of. - iFramedRogerRabbit

I have never been to Disney on my bday. But we have been for both my kids. We have done Ariel's Grotto, My Birthday Celebration with Pat E Cake, and the Blue Bayou. Since we are going in a few weeks for my daughters again then we will have to go to Cafe Orleans for free beignets. That's where they are at right?!? Lol - tigntink
