Hi everyone. Can anyone tell me how busy DL will be May 20-24? I wanted to take the kids during spring break in April, but the hubs can't take the time off work.
From past years, its a good time to go because some schools are starting to end that time of year and the weather is good. And you'll beat the Memorial Day crowds - BaseballMickey_CM2826.7 #16 2-11-13 4:49PMLike(1) Reply
Does DL stay open late with the fireworks still at this time? I'm hoping we can go in May, this way it'll be our 3rd year in a row that we've got to go to DL. I'm working my butt off to try to make this vacation happen. Thank you for your answers. :) - Minnieme798.0 #7558 2-11-13 5:03PMLike Reply

Hi MWer's. Can anyone tell me what kind of a drive it is from Seattle to DL during the week of Thanksgiving? My brother and I want to surprise our mom for her birthday by taking her to DL. Is there a lot snow? Will the roads be slippery? More...
You could hit some snow between OR and CA and the Shasta Pass area. The other spot would be over Grapevine in So. Calif. It's hard to say. Some years it's bone dry and some years you need chains. - lisacat254.9 #961 10-23-11 2:37PMLike Reply
We've traveled from Portland Oregon to DL the week of Thanksgiving many times (9 years running). Usually we hit snow going over the Siskiyou summit but it has never closed the road nor required us to put chains on. The freeway is usually pretty clear of snow, the real issue occurs when you get off the freeway to stop for gas or food. Depending on the snow level and how large the town is the side streets may be difficult to drive on. Like lisacat stated the Shasta area is usually the worst so we plan not to stop in that area for gas or food. One thing I would recommend is try to avoid driving home on the Sunday following Thanksgiving as the freeways are packed. We usually start our drive home early Saturday and try to make it most of the way home to avoid the traffic on Sunday. - fletch51.8 #3715 10-23-11 3:01PMLike Reply

My son is a scaredy cat and went on it for the first time on his 2nd bday (his first DL trip). He's been on it three more times (bribed once with toy pirate gold) and twice he
started to get really nervous and teary as we started to board. We watched the movie, read books about pirates and he agreed to go on it again but always says he doesn't want to. Funny he always gets relaxed after the drops and the dark cave part in the beginning and seems to really enjoy it. He might try it again on Sunday while wearing his "magic ear plugs." He doesn't like it because "it's dark and loud... I don't like the pirates shooting at each other." He's 4 now but a very sensitive kid. There was a period of several years when I refused to go on it, until I was 7 or 8. Just depends on the kid. At least try it once no matter how old they are (my 18 month old has been riding it since 8 weeks and has no problems). - Polkadobo372.1 #370 1-21-11 8:58PMLike Reply
We took my youngest on it for the first time when she was 2 and she was ok. She hates the first dip but is ok after that. - Brie113.3 #2842 1-21-11 9:00PMLike Reply
When is the best time to buy vacation packages? And is it cheaper to buy on Alaska air or Disneyland.com or is there cheaper? I'm clueless n frazzled from the options.
I don't know if Disney will let you book airfare on their website, but I'm sure if you call Disney Travel they can help. As for the packages, Disneyland seems to have more promotions in the early spring (January thru April) to be used as late as summer. Or they have packages in the fall for the holidays. And as much as you may shop around, Disney doesn't offer much in terms of discount to third party re-sellers like travel agents. You might save a few bucks, but nothing substantial. - BlueberryCrusader650.7 #161 1-19-11 12:29PMLike Reply
