Not sure how the crowds are next week, but we were there the last week of Jan into Feb and we never waited in the line in the morning, after the third day we happened to be walking past the fast pass station around 10 or so and noticed there was only a 2 min wait. I have seen others post this Q's. And the answer I'm reading is It is available to "VIP"s, ie, those who take a VIP tour, Club 33 members, and certain others as Disneyland sees necessary. This is not the normal VIP seating area. They move it here around Christmas due to the Christmas Tree blocking the view from the train station. The normal spot is on the platform at the train station. To arrange a VIP Tour, call 714-781-4400 and they will transfer you to VIP. The VIP tour is $750 for 6 hours, additional hours are $125.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! We normally stay at the Grand or the Anabella. The Grand is $383 and we are already staying there for 5 days this month. We normally get a great deal at the Anabella but there are no special rates at that time and so it is $160 which isn't bad. We have stayed at the Fairfield and it was ok, but for the same price we can stay at Anabella and the rooms are much nicer. Although I can't say for sure what their "official policy" is, my own experience has been they tend to let in small stuff. One or two water bottles, some snacks, maybe a sandwich or two. People I have personally seen with bigger coolers who try to bring in more were directrd to the picnic area lockers and told to leave it there. Again, this is nothing official, just my own experience. I bring in a couple water bottles and a few snacks in my backpack and they have never sent me away. On pirates, I got stuck... we were taken off by jumping boats to a platform, that's when there was one near by... I think they are designed so that there's enough space between scenes to stop the boats and those like in the battle scene flow near enough to at least hop boats. DL weekend over :-( Ended with me getting sick and losing my cell phone in Turtle Talk and not realizing it until we were on the road to head home. Hopefully the next trip will be better. See you in 3 weeks DL!!

Travel Lodge on Harbor. It was a two star that we Pricelined. It was fine, but certainly not nice. (we weren't expecting a nice hotel when we entered $30 per night and two stars into the search criteria). They did have a breakfast,
which was a plus. The walk was about a
mile or mile and a half or so to the front

My mom took my sister & I to BB when we were little & I still have not forgotten that place. We were too distracted by eating inside a ride to act up. It's a great way too cool off as well. We've stayed at Park Vue, very convenient location. Directly across the street from DL entrance. They offer breakfast & appetizer hour. Also, donuts/muffins/water bottles in the front office are complimentary. We received a welcome basket w/ fruit and wine as well. Pretty good experience. It's crazy busy. I had a friend who was turned away. They were all so bummed, because they drove from the Bay Area, just for Christmas in the park. Good luck if you want to go that day.
