Ok, my 7 yr old daughter was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and spent a few days in the hospital with an 18 hr stint in ICU and her first question when she got home was "we are still going to Disneyland The first week of the year, ri More...
so sorry to hear that.type 1 diabettes is differnt than type 2 with is more commom.typr 2 is where you have to control what you it as it raises sugar spikes.most hospitals and doctors/ped offer classes usually free in eating and understanding sugar number and insulin intake.i would look in to those. also at the parks there are sharps containers inside the restroom in cause you need to properly dispose off and needles or other sharp objects. - pikarich614.5 #177 11-14-12 12:31PMLike Reply
Yeah I am good there Kaiser has had is in classes already been to 2. They help with all that ins n outs. Thanks - ZBrerFox 171.5 #1979 11-14-12 5:35PM
You can probibly look that up on Disneyland's website and/or at Gues Services in the park. - WendyLVSNana45.7 #3845 11-14-12 12:32PMLike Reply
So sorry to hear about your daughters diagnosis, but glad to hear she still is looking forward to Disneyland!! I have Lupus (an autoimmune disease) and have had it since I was 5, many years the only thing I had to look forward to was our two trips to Disneyland, and it's still that way to this day!!! Last year I came to the 24 hour Leap Year celebration with a feeding tube! Lol. My best advice is pack foods she can eat throughout the day and then the nicer restaraunts like Blue Bayou, Napa Rose, and Downtown Disney restaurants do have info on nutrition. And be sure and use the first aid center on Main Street if you need a quiet, clean place for insulin injections or just for her to rest. I hope this is helpful and have a wonderful trip :) - hatgal76202.7 #1590 11-14-12 12:48PMLike Reply
Yes thanks for the info and we always bring snacks but they are more important now then before. We plan to use the first aid for some quiet spot to give the insulin shots. - ZBrerFox 171.5 #1979 11-14-12 5:37PM
I called last week to ask about the nutritional info, and was transferred to Chef Chris (I think), who is the head chef for DL. He said they don't have nutrition info such as carb count available, but they can and will provide you with information such as "This hamburger bun is 7.5 oz." He said it is up to the guest to figure out what the carb count is. They will give you the list of ingredients for each dish so you can calculate your numbers. There are many apps out there that can tell you carb count for a gazillion different foods, so with DL's info, the total can be calculated. I hope this helps. - jmgphx322.7 #511 11-14-12 12:48PMLike Reply
Thanks for all the info. I really appreciate the advise. This trip is going to be a lot different than our last trip in June but just as fun. - ZBrerFox 171.5 #1979 11-14-12 5:40PM
Has anyone else heard the rumor that Disneyland will be losing The Dole Whips? Because dole is not renewing their contract?? I hope it is just that a rumor.
It's a rumor started by a low ranking user on another website. Believe it when/if it happens and just because Dole removes its sponsorship doesn't mean the whip has to go. - Linzee517.4 #225 9-26-12 2:43PMLike Reply

Been here at Disneyland since June 27th and went to the park 9 times and only been on RSR once. Keep missing fast passes.
must.get.there.earlier. are you an AP holder? If so, you can sign up for a Magic Morning and get in earlier to get that pass - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint1799.3 #42 7-12-12 11:06AMLike Reply

With the Voices of Liberty making there west coast appearance at the Opera House is Great Moments show still playing?? On the times i always see it is closed??
I just saw it on the 15th. You have to go inside the theatre, they sing inside the Great Moments stage. Right after their performance, the actual attraction starts. So they basically perform whenever the attraction is going. I would ask a cm for more info. - thelittlestmouse76.1 #3334 6-18-12 7:09PMLike(1) Reply
