We've been thinking about taking my daughter who is turning 3 in a couple weeks to Ariel's grotto for her birthday. Our budget is pretty tight so I was just wondering if anybody has been there and can recommend it. We usually celebrate bi More...
We've taken our 4yo there before. You take a pic with Ariel first then get seated. Breakfast is family style. Princesses come by your table for pics and autographs. We prefer Plaza Inn's character breakfast then just do the princess fantasy walk which is now next to iasw. - jillybean102117.2 #5375 11-26-12 1:08AMLike(1) Reply
Did you get a lot of interaction with princesses? We've done plaza inn but she's pretty scared of the characters that have their faces covered. - handdmom 221.9 #1338 11-26-12 6:45AM
I think she will love Ariel's then. No characters with "masks" -- just princesses! The food is really good for lunch/dinner (I've never done breakfast). $ saver - the menu is the same for both lunch and dinner but lunch is cheaper! :) Not super cheap, mind you, but it's a really lovely birthday experience for a princess fan. - mouseprincess 307.9 #573 11-26-12 8:52AM
They each come to your table once...it's not like the Plaza where they are just kind of freely walking around. But I prefer it to the fantasy fair bc at least you get to eat (and have a cocktail if you want! :) my daughter loved it both times we went - MissMolly698.6 #141 11-26-12 9:01AMLike(1) Reply
Is Casey Jr still closed? I know it's not exactly a thrill ride but I love it. I noticed there haven't been any wait times posted and thought it was going to open this week.
Somebody posted that it was running yesterday. - KermitFan13407.8 #321 11-16-12 12:15PMLike Reply
Thank you! I don't really ever post anything that would need tagging but I was just so curious. Two years and I'm still trying to figure this app out. Love it though! - handdmom 221.9 #1338 11-4-12 8:03PM
I'm considering going to the parade taping tomorrow. Does any one that's gone before have any advice? Does it get packed? Do they have people line up before park opening?
I attended last year with fellow MWers...get there early at park opening to get a prime spot along the Main Street portion of the parade route...be preparedt to shout and cheer a lot...crowd shots will be done and several re takes of things will be done...be ready to have fun and be patient with the experience :-) - uscdisneyteacher3131.0 #13 11-2-12 4:33PMLike(1) Reply
Last year I went without knowing about it, no pre line. It was the usual Saturday crowd. You could watch the parade or performances or just do the park. It did get hot while waiting for performances. - MrMike274.7 #786 11-2-12 4:29PMLike Reply
Today my hubby and I are going to the parks without our kids. I feel awful and have never gone without them but we're celebrating our 7 year anniversary.
Don't feel guilty it's your anniversary. It's completely different without the kids. Just enjoy the experience! - ShariRenee1562.5 #51 10-17-12 8:19AMLike(2) Reply
Try to not feel guilty. Your kids will appreciate the parks even more next time. Don't make a big deal about it in front of them. After all, it's just the two of you going on a date. It just happens to be at Disneyland.
My wife and I have been on dates there many times over the years and it's special every time. Don't worry and enjoy your date. Happy Anniversary! ๐ - grumpypapa549.3 #204 10-18-12 7:46AMLike Reply
My friends and i did that for my birthday left the kids and did an adult trip only we felt guilty for the first ten minutes then had a blast! Don't worry you will have so much fun. Happy Anniversary! - kharebear264.3 #12500 10-18-12 7:47AMLike Reply
I was so impressed yesterday with how the DLR handled the day being busier than expected. The cast members were all working so hard and the park even extended their hours. Well done Disney!
Of course there were still a bunch of complainers on the tram last night. Come on people! - handdmom221.9 #1338 9-27-12 7:28AMLike Reply

Still need to check them out! Are they once every hour? - disneykimmi115.7 #2810 9-17-12 6:15PMLike Reply
Hmmm. This doesn't seem to let me 'reply.' So, this is for disneykimmi--If you see the Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln show, they perform before Mr. Lincoln comes on. Assuming they still do this. They did in the summertime. - meridafan1040.3 #83 9-17-12 6:20PMLike Reply
Thanks! Hope they're still going when we get there in October! - disneykimmi 115.7 #2810 9-17-12 8:30PM
The fireworks tonight were amazing! I was very surprised to see a new show. Very fun! Even some cast members were surprised there was a new show.
Tody was the 1st day back for "Remember... Dreams come true" fireworks. They had another summer firework show for the past couple of months. Excited to see this one again. - MagicalLand381.9 #355 9-15-12 1:09AMLike(2) Reply

Just curious, who has pets with Disney names? We have a dog named Mater and it fits his personality perfectly.
I have a cocker spaniel and of course her name is "lady" ... The reason we Have her is because that's my wife's favorite movie - TINO372.2 #370 8-7-12 8:49PMLike(1) Reply

I'm so sorry! I understand--we lost our first Golden last year unexpectedly. They are a wonderful, loving, silly breed! Simba will always be a part of your family, even if he's not physically with you :) - Spoonful_O_Sugar 436.3 #285 8-8-12 11:18AM
The best breed ever!! We had one and she protected our kids like crazy! Dh was shoveling snow on our patio and she almost ate him alive cuz the kids were in the house and he didn't announce himself. - Disneymomab 15.1 #5660 8-8-12 12:27PM
I'm sure most of you already know this but read it on facebook today and it was news to me. The Princess Fantasy fair is closing on August 12th until next spring.
SIC posted about this earlier today. In the future, use the search feature, so you can see if something has already been posted. ๐๐ - DisneyFanZoe1099.1 #75 8-2-12 12:06PMLike(2) Reply
Wow my intentions are good. Some of you MWers are kinda strict. - handdmom 221.9 #1338 8-2-12 12:16PM
I'm not strict. You see, if all of us posted whatever we want, whenever we want, this place would be a madhouse. We all love breaking Disney news, but it would be insane to have 25 different posts, by different users on the same subject. That clogs up the lounge, and live pictures and other quality content gets buried. That isn't fair, or right, to do that to the folks who take the time outta their day, to post pictures for the rest of us. Nobody said you had bad intentions. It would've served you better if you said, oops, I'll be sure to check the search feature next time. - DisneyFanZoe 1099.1 #75 8-2-12 12:21PM
shuffling things around a bit. a stage show will go there eventually and the Princess Meet and Greet will be to the left of the castle. Search SIC's post. lotsa info there and a pic - HandMeAChurroImmaFaint 1803.2 #42 8-2-12 12:19PM
Thanks HandMeAChurro. I'll check it out. Bummed its closing but Disney usually always improves things so looking forward to what's in store. - handdmom 221.9 #1338 8-2-12 12:50PM
aaaah yes, my daughter did the from age 4-10, oh the tears!! Of course I would have to take a picture which would upset her even more ๐ - Linzee519.0 #225 7-27-12 12:06PMLike Reply
