hi! This is the last weekend to see the Salute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue in Frontierland. Also, the Lunar New Year celebration starts at the Pacific Wharf this weekend in DCA and the Bayou Bash in NOS is still going. RSR is a must Get there early for fast passes for your favorite attractions. Earl of Sandwich is so-so, save your money and go to ToGo's. It's busy with long lines and no discount if you have an ap like food in the parks. Whitewater inside the Grand California is a great place for lunch or breakfast. Go to Trader Sam's at the DL Hotel or The Cove Bar in DCA for drinks. they also have great food. Ride the Lillybelle, Captain the Mark Twain and be sure to get a map from your Jungle Cruise skipper. - splashphotoCM880.9 #100 1-31-13 11:33AMLike(1) Reply

Hi all,
I came here tonight before I went to bed to look at all your posts and smile about some Disneyland happiness. Thank you for being my happy place
Well that's weird, my post cut off half way- anyway-
I was just going to ask you all for some prayers, fairy dust, or thoughts-- whatever you may call it, for my dear grammy who had a bad fall a couple of nights ago, and is on the road to recovery but in a lot of pain, she's 84. On top of that sadness we have some large egos in the family that make putting her care above everyones' feelings difficult. So if you could please pray for us.
And thank you for your posts and making me smile, even though I may not know you close, I feel connected and so grateful for this site and all the wonderful people here.
With all my love - stephigo216.3 #5471 11-25-12 10:19PMLike Reply
Lord, thank you for letting us come to you with any request, knowing you will always here our prayers. Bless grammy and heal her, and put an extra blessing on her family, they are all scared and worried, and sometimes that is when the worst in us come out, please give them an extra peace and the direction they need to follow for grammy's best care and to help their best come out instead. In Jesus's name we pray, Amen. I have been there with family and hurt older loved ones. It usually is just the fear that she is getting older. I hope it all goes well, let us know how she is. - secretagentangel661.9 #156 11-25-12 10:27PMLike Reply

Im guessing Paradise Pier is about a quarter mile from the parks. You can shorten your walk by cutting though the Grad or take the Monorail in/out of DL. We went during those dates 2 years ago and it was busy but not too bad. It rained so it may have kept the crowds away. It will be busier this year because of the DCA expansion. - NikkiMickey1583.1 #48 10-26-12 5:58PMLike Reply

Disneyland First: seeing someone get arrested outside the DL gates. 3 security and what looked like an undercover cop arresting her. Not sure why..
Tuesday a man gave security a hard time about not being able to take in his pocket knife. Then he threw it at the feet of the two cast members at check in. Security made him pick it up, place it gently on the table and suggested he apologize to the CM's for his uncalled for behavior. - bugsmom1208211.1 #1470 10-14-12 10:17PMLike(6) Reply

They seem very respectful and to do their job quietly and efficiently. With the young woman I saw being arrested I couldn't hear anything like yelling and they seemed to just be surrounding her to avoid causing a scene and staying as quiet as possible - stephigo2 16.3 #5471 10-23-12 7:03PM

If you buy them online you should be able to print your tickets. Theses will get you in the park on your first day. Then you go and get your real AP. also your AP year dosent start until you go through the gate for the first time. If you are looking to get the AP discount on something like Halloween tickets just call the AP phone number and they will help you with that. I bought my AP in march and went to the resort last weekend for the first time with it. But I purchased my hollow even tickets 2 weeks ago over the phone and they mailed them to me. Hope this helps. - mhpoker259.1 #915 8-15-12 6:14AMLike(1) Reply
When I purchased annual passes, I did it over the phone through the Disney website, and they held our passes at the ticket booth for pick up. The day of your arrival, you just go straight to the booth, and a CM will give you your passes. :) - Alicewhoareyou535.9 #209 8-15-12 12:11AMLike Reply
The passes are effective on the day of the first use. - Alicewhoareyou 535.9 #209 8-15-12 12:12AM
Thanks! I am just hoping to get a hotel discount ahead of time with the AP... because there is a great deal with that right now. But I'm not sure that would be possible if it isn't effective until our first use... maybe if I got there, used it, and then tried to book at a DLR hotel?.. that could be risky though.. LOL. Thanks for your info. Do you know if there is a mail option? - stephigo2 16.3 #5471 8-15-12 12:18AM
Even though you can print out a ticket before receiving your AP, I don't think you'd be able to use it for discounts yet. I may be wrong, but I think you have to activate your pass when you go to the parks, and if your pass isn't activated, I don't think you can use it for discounts before your actual trip. But again, I may be wrong.. - MEHlanie_Mouse690.1 #146 8-15-12 1:38AMLike Reply
I believe you're correct. My advice is to call guest services like ScooterMike suggested and see what they can do for you. :) 😊 - DisneyFanZoe 1083.8 #77 8-15-12 2:12AM
I printed my APs. And you can't get any discount unroll you have your real AP but if you call the AP line and explain your situation they will help you and give you the discount. They did for me. - mhpoker 259.1 #915 8-15-12 7:13AM
I bought my AP before the price hike. Went for the first time a month later to activate it. However, my expiration date is one year from the day I purchased it. Someone please let me know if they get a different result. I'd love to get that extra month back if possible. - jugglingjeremy211.0 #1471 8-15-12 4:11AMLike Reply
i purchased our APs like 3 weeks before our first trip and the CM set our expiration date as the date of first use not purchase. - LolatheSlush 201.3 #1605 8-15-12 6:55AM

So it has been 9 grueling months since I was last at Disneyland/DCA (Labor day weekend)! What changes should I look out for/check out this trip? I know some things have been opening and some things are closed but I want to be prepared. Do More...
Is this a test or are you really wanting to know, because a lot of the information can be found on the disney blogs, or on MiceChat (gasp, I know) Al Lutz blog/newsletter, which is very informative. Fantasmic is in disneyland, reserved seats are just to the left of pirates (if you're looking at the rivers of america FROM Pirates) - in front of Cafe Orleans. DCA has undergone a lot of things.. i believe since you've been gone, Aladdin's Magic Carpet scene has been permanently disabled, elecTRONica has gone away and now they're setting up for the Mad T Party, as you can see from photos today, walls have come down surrounding the Carthay Circle Theater. Ghiradelli is slated to open on June 3, so if you go around that time, you'll get some yummy chocolate goodness. Ariel's Undersea Adventure had a slight makeover, dole-whip hair is gone, replaced with a generic ponytail style hair, animations have changed. The Cove bar is still closed for renovations, but should be back open by June 15.. Matterhorn is still closed, and will reopen june 15. Gibson Girl ice cream has reopened in its original location, so has penny arcade (but then again, i think they were already open in labor day, so just look at the new-ness of it all. Candy palace also had a small renovation). Carnation Cafe Plaza Garden stage area is currently closed for construction, they're turning that into an extension of Fantasyland, aka: the new home to the Princess Fantasy Faire. Also, if you are attending the park around the grand reopening of DCA on june 15, look for a starbucks! The Mouse and The Siren have teamed up at last! Oh I could go on and on, but I think that's the gist of it. - SultanPprShkr328.4 #479 5-24-12 6:19PMLike Reply
