I totally agree with you, DLKen...unfortunately, we live in AZ 6 hrs away. This is my first trip solo with them without their father and she is definitely more of a daddy's girl. It's been very frustrating, especially last night. She was really bad, but my son was being perfect. I really didn't have many options. Next time dad is coming, so if she acts up again, him or I can just take her back to the hotel.  - DisneyLuva4Life   26.3 #5554 10-14-14 10:17AM Like  Reply
We are from Vegas and I have had to make trips alone with a five year old and a twelve year old and I can feel your pain.  What I ended up doing was giving my little one two "important" jobs.  Job #1, find as many hidden Mickey's as you can.  And Job #2, find a special gift for us to bring home to Daddy.  The winner of the hidden Mickey challenge would receive a special gift at the end of the night.  My little one became so occupied that the day went by much better.  It was fun and enjoyable and at the end  of the day.....ice cream and a stuffed animal for the trip home. - disneyfanaticohyeah  11.2 #8610 10-14-14 10:50AM
We had that with Sea World once. Not quite 6 hours, but quite a drive.  We took him out of the parks to lunch. Lunch was a salad....he didn't eat salads. Told him if he ate the salad we could go back. Luckily it didn't backfire. But I feel your pain. - DLKenCA  1579.4 #82 10-14-14 11:02AM

We did a 5 night. They also have a couple 3 night cruise and a 2 night (that is JUST not enough time) ;) The cruise goes to Ensenada and Cabo. For us, this saves about $2500.00 on airfare to FLA for a Caribbean Cruise. My kids are young enough where cruise stops aren't really a major thing, being on the boat itself is. ARIZONA AP HOLDERS:Do you have the deluxe pass or the premium? I'm thinking since we drive and live further it may be worth paying the $669. for no blackouts. Also, do you tend to stay in the same hotel when you go or switch it up a bit?   More...
I'm in AZ and have a premium so that we don't have to schedule our trips around blackout dates. We generally stay at the Disney hotel if it's planned well in advance but if we happen to go last minute, we stay at the hojo.  - MandyPooh   443.9 #423 3-14-14 12:56PM Like(1)  Reply
We are AZ too and have premiums since we have kids in school. We do 4 trips a year (usually) and stay at the Grand or Dland Hotel. We tend to book far enough in advance to get a good discount.  - mommalostone   59.7 #4073 3-14-14 1:43PM Like(1)  Reply
Once I save up enough, I'm definitely getting premium. It's way worth it, especially if you plan going weekends like I am. I believe it'll be well worth it, especially since you will only have to go 3 times a year to get your moneys worth.  - princessvg   40.4 #4692 3-14-14 1:14PM Like  Reply
Also-- sometimes we drive friday after school, go all day saturday, and drive home on Sunday. If you think that's something you'd like to do, get premium :) - princessvg  40.4 #4692 3-14-14 1:16PM
Yeah, premium makes sense since we have kids in school and need to utilize weekends. We had such an awesome time at the Dland hotel this time. If he's already splinted I think by the time he's casted you will know how to deal better with his arm,  but you will have the new issue of itching. Make sure you ask the doctor the best way to alleviate that so he can enjoy his trip better. - BeatleMike   526.1 #339 2-12-14 11:22AM Like  Reply

We did.  I have mixed feelings about it. Breakfast was cereal, pastries, some fresh fruit, juices, coffee. That would be a benefit if you have kids. Just us two.  Snacks was meh... Chex mix, goldfish, Doritos, or Cheetos, fruit. Appetizers for the evening was a hot one. Varied each evening. Cookies, fruit, choc strawberries each night. The appetizer hours kind of blended with the dessert hour. The coffee is weak, but the one day the espresso machine worked, we were able to blend one of its pods, with coffee to make a decent cup.  The water are tiny bottles, so we just poured them into our camelbacks. Took a couple of sodas into the park and just asked for ice.  It closed at 8pm, so the hours weren't long enough in my opinion. We had to do room service one night. Everything in the parks, DTD was closed, and we were starved.  We did like the beer and wine part, but only had a couple the entire time we were there.  It was nice when hubs wore out and we needed to go rest in the room. I went and got some snacks. You could take stuff back to your room, so that was nice. Includ beer/wine. Would I do it again, probably because I like the niceties, but I'm not sure it was a great value compared to bringing stuff from home. I would be just as happy with my keurig, and my snacks. - Sugarbuzz   138.7 #2750 10-29-13 9:27PM Like(1)  Reply

I keep us on a strict budget, I coupon..we put our kids absolutely first before our wants. They are able to do any clubs/sports they want. But we don't buy them toys or extras much. We splurge on bdays, xmas, & at Disney of course. Even at a young age they understand what we are saving up for. For those two weeks a year we are just able to have a truly magical spoiled time & it makes it all worth while. I cannot wait, lol! - DisneyLuva4Life   26.3 #5554 10-10-11 9:54PM Like  Reply

Good evening MW! :-) Need to ask all the night owl MWers out there: What is the best way to ensure a great viewing spot for WOC. Have not seen it yet. Need all the opinions/ideas you can throw out there.
If you have the money eat at ariel grottos very good and you get preferred seating. Otherwise a fast pass will do. Blue is a good view. - SillySwings   451.7 #414 9-26-11 9:25PM Like  Reply
Wet zone because then you don't have to look over the sea of people in front of you (especially the parents who have kids on their shoulders), they sell ponchos too but you don't really need them, - Jessgiac   8.6 #10174 9-26-11 9:26PM Like  Reply
We got a fastpass for yellow. It was good cuz we sat right behind the gate. There was no one in front of us, so we could see with no problem. - indyRocks   361.4 #561 9-26-11 10:20PM Like  Reply

Question- Getting ready to book my dining for our Nov trip. We haven 't seen WOC yet because before our kids were too young to wait for the good seats. Should I get a dining pkg or just get a fast pass and secure a good spot early? Do the  More...
Fast passes are a gamble to what section you will get. Where as the dining has it's own spot. In my opinion, I think the other viewing areas are better than the dining viewing area. But mostly everyone disagrees with me. LOL!The dining section is a lot less crowded. But if you have little ones, I would stay all the way to the back and stand behind the planters towards TLM building. Nobody will be able to get in their way and you get a wide view of the show. - DisneyBrideยฐOยฐ   420.9 #448 9-26-11 12:57PM Like  Reply

They have their own show now in DCA. A "Dance Party.". Usually runs twice a day in Paradise Pier, in front of The Little Mermaid buildong. - madmarchhare   221.2 #1587 8-31-11 10:39PM Like  Reply

Has anyone stayed at the Anaheim Doubletree? I'm not worried about the resort, just concerned about where it is on the ART route & if there is adequate room on the bus when it comes.
If this is the doubletree by the convention center, there is an ART stop directly across the street in front of the Travelodge. Busses are almost never full. It is like $4 now, though, so plan for that. You'll be somewhat close to the Toy Story lot, so you coukd walk there and catch the free busses. That's what we did. Hope this helps! - madmarchhare   221.2 #1587 8-31-11 10:07PM Like  Reply

No problem. We've stayed basically everywhere around here over the last 20 years or so. Some of these little hotels are horror stories. You have to be careful! Doubletree was nice, though! - madmarchhare   221.2 #1587 8-31-11 10:28PM Like  Reply

Yes, I have seen moms hold young babies on their laps like on peter pan, etc... And i noticed the babies have to be facing forward. - ERICKA   491.5 #373 8-29-11 11:48PM Like  Reply
