I am a blogger, www.foodtrampdiaries.com and also a lover of all things DISNEY. I am from Michigan but transplanted to Arizona for the last 6 years. I've been to Disneyworld lots growing up but there's something more quaint and special about Disneyland

ARIZONA AP HOLDERS:Do you have the deluxe pass or the premium? I'm thinking since we drive and live further it may be worth paying the $669. for no blackouts. Also, do you tend to stay in the same hotel when you go or switch it up a bit?   More...
I'm in AZ and have a premium so that we don't have to schedule our trips around blackout dates. We generally stay at the Disney hotel if it's planned well in advance but if we happen to go last minute, we stay at the hojo.  - MandyPooh  434.5 #407 3-14-14 12:56PM Like(1)  Reply
We are AZ too and have premiums since we have kids in school. We do 4 trips a year (usually) and stay at the Grand or Dland Hotel. We tend to book far enough in advance to get a good discount.  - mommalostone  42.8 #4419 3-14-14 1:43PM Like(1)  Reply
Once I save up enough, I'm definitely getting premium. It's way worth it, especially if you plan going weekends like I am. I believe it'll be well worth it, especially since you will only have to go 3 times a year to get your moneys worth.  - princessvg  33.3 #4846 3-14-14 1:14PM Like  Reply
Also-- sometimes we drive friday after school, go all day saturday, and drive home on Sunday. If you think that's something you'd like to do, get premium :) - princessvg  33.3 #4846 3-14-14 1:16PM
Yeah, premium makes sense since we have kids in school and need to utilize weekends. We had such an awesome time at the Dland hotel this time. I hope we can stay at a DLR resort at least twice a year. Once I start working full time, that's the first thing my paycheck is going towards, lol. - DisneyLuva4Life  22.4 #5724 3-14-14 1:59PM Like  Reply

kclouie....she will be fine, it barely effected him. Unless your daughter is older. We were advised no jerky rides, so Space Mtn, Splash Mtn, Matterhorn, TOT, Cali Screamin, Goofy's Flight School were all out of the picture. But he is only 6, so he didn't mind at all. We had a GREAT time. Saw all the parades and shows and we walked 27 miles in 3 days and he kept right up! - DisneyLuva4Life  22.4 #5724 3-1-14 2:49PM Like  Reply

Once upon a time I stuck my hand in a running brake lathe and was lucky enough to not rip my hand off and only break a bone in my palm. Since I was out of work for a few weeks, of course I went to Disneyland and I had a swell ol' time. If he's already splinted I think by the time he's casted you will know how to deal better with his arm,  but you will have the new issue of itching. Make sure you ask the doctor the best way to alleviate that so he can enjoy his trip better. - BeatleMike  477.7 #358 2-12-14 11:22AM Like  Reply

We did.  I have mixed feelings about it. Breakfast was cereal, pastries, some fresh fruit, juices, coffee. That would be a benefit if you have kids. Just us two.  Snacks was meh... Chex mix, goldfish, Doritos, or Cheetos, fruit. Appetizers for the evening was a hot one. Varied each evening. Cookies, fruit, choc strawberries each night. The appetizer hours kind of blended with the dessert hour. The coffee is weak, but the one day the espresso machine worked, we were able to blend one of its pods, with coffee to make a decent cup.  The water are tiny bottles, so we just poured them into our camelbacks. Took a couple of sodas into the park and just asked for ice.  It closed at 8pm, so the hours weren't long enough in my opinion. We had to do room service one night. Everything in the parks, DTD was closed, and we were starved.  We did like the beer and wine part, but only had a couple the entire time we were there.  It was nice when hubs wore out and we needed to go rest in the room. I went and got some snacks. You could take stuff back to your room, so that was nice. Includ beer/wine. Would I do it again, probably because I like the niceties, but I'm not sure it was a great value compared to bringing stuff from home. I would be just as happy with my keurig, and my snacks. - Sugarbuzz  112.7 #3107 10-29-13 9:27PM Like(1)  Reply

The Grand is beautiful but DLH is my preference. All remodeled and very Disney and indoor/outdoor restaurants are great and not too crowded. Pool areas are more fun too. Fast passes are a gamble to what section you will get. Where as the dining has it's own spot. In my opinion, I think the other viewing areas are better than the dining viewing area. If this is the doubletree by the convention center, there is an ART stop directly across the street in front of the Travelodge. Busses are almost never full. It is like $4 now, though, so plan for that. You'll be somewhat close to the Toy Story lot, so you coukd walk there and catch the free busses. That's what we did.
