A quick question for all the runners: is it worth it to get your 10k pace time sent in? Or is starting in the last corral a recipe for disaster? I know I can do this in under 3:30, I just am having a hard time finding 10k runs near me More...
The only thing with starting the back is that is where most of the walkers can be found. So here is suggestion, if you can't submit a time get to your corral early. That way you can be in the front. That will put you in front of that group of walkers. Then you will just have to work your way up from there. Not ideal but if you can't submit a time that will be best. - PrincessAuroraMomma 600.6 #377 7-3-15 3:09PMLike(2)Reply
It is more than worth it! Every corral I have moved up has improved my race experience. You start sooner and the front corrals are smaller. Think of the thousands of fewer runners on the course ahead of you! A less crowded course makes for a better experience. Finally, being stuck in a corral with runners slower than you is no fun! You can only go as fast as those around you and can waste a lot of energy trying to zigzag around slower runners and walkers. - CollegeDisneyKnowledgeGrad 1478.3 #3 7-3-15 3:23PMLike(2)Reply
In my point of view, it's worth it to get that 10k pace turned in, if you think you'll do well in an earlier corral. I didn't submit proof of time for my first half (like you, I didn't have any local races that would qualify). I am an active person and I trained for a 2:20-2:30 finish, but because I didn't get proof submitted, I was placed in the third to last corral. I did get frustrated in the narrower sections going through DL because everyone around me was quite a bit slower than my natural pace--it's hard to slow down when you're in a groove, my muscles start to get tight. More importantly, though, I found that many didn't seem to follow runner etiquette (ex: walkers stay to the right; groups should try to stay single-file or move in pairs; runners pass on the left, etc). The last few corrals have way more people in them than the earlier ones, too. There were times I felt slightly unsafe and I witnessed a girl trying to jog (and doing the right thing by passing on the left) fall hard because others weren't paying attention. You're going to be the most comfortable if you're placed with people who have a similar pace as yours, so if you think you'd do well in an earlier corral, my advice is to sign up for a 10K that will give you an accurate and official proof of time, even if it means going out of your area. 👍 - Spoonful_O_Sugar 669.2 #335 7-3-15 3:37PMLike(1)Reply

Our kicks from today. BabyPrincess insisted on being different from her sister and I. On a side note, I sprayed Scotchguard on all three pairs and they've stayed clean through several playground adventures! Hooray!
Oh my, I just signed up for the Star Wars 1/2....and I swore I'd only run if I was being chased!! ;) I was wondering if anyone has purchased the ChEAR Squad package before? If so, was it worth it? Any tips and advice are appreciated!
That's how most runners start and then when you cross finish line (with a tear of happiness that you did it) you'll be hooked. Do 2-4 short runs a week (30-45 mins) then one long run during that same week (hour or increase in miles each week). You'll cross finish line easily like that - MarshaMouse 5044.1 #29 6-16-15 3:09PMLike(1)Reply
I did my first 1/2 in May for the Tinkerbell and I was 32 weeks. I walked the entire marathon. As long you can keep up the 16 minute pace you'll be fine. I'm doing the 10K for Star Wars. Like @MarshaMouse said you get hooked and it's true. Star Wars will be 3rd run for Disney plan to do the 5K in DL in September. Good luck! :) - TheZaragozaFam 13.9 #0 6-16-15 9:27PMLike(1)Reply

Yay! Trip booked for the first week of December! I told LilPrincess that we could do Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique this time. Any suggestions on which package to choose? Any tips for BBB I should know? Input would be much appreciated!
We bought The Castle Package. It was well worth the money. It includes a photo package and the dresses are surprisingly good quality. If you have a photo pass make sure you have that ready. We got some really great pictures on that as well. They really pamper them. Have fun! - luvthemouse 280.6 #1142 7-22-14 11:17AMLike(1)Reply
Castle package also comes with a front of the line pass to the princess fantasy Faire meet and greet. Your fairy godmother announces your princess while she walks to the Faire through the back door of the boutique, waving at all the kingdom along the way. That right there is worth the $ for this package! - MeridaFan 4244.3 #40 7-22-14 12:03PMLike(1)Reply
We bought the Castle Package as well. That includes the dress, crown & wand with hair, nails & make-up. Plus photo package with three printed photos and they let us take lots of pics with our own camera. The line pass for Fantasy Faire is amazing, my daughter loved being escorted by her Fairy Godmother. We don't have AP's anymore 😭 but I was given a discount (20% I think) for using my Chase Disney card. Hope your LilPrincess has an amazing time! - MyPunzel711 36.6 #0 7-22-14 1:31PMLikeReply

I say do lunch and go to Carthay. That way not as formal as dinner but you still get to experience the quality of the restaurant. Whenever we go to Disney we always eat at Carthay for the WOC package. And that can even be twice in one trip! LilPrincess and I have been watching and rewatching The Gummi Bears DVDs lately and it got me thinking of all the other Disney shows I used to watch after school. Did any of you have a favorite Disney TV show, and if so, what was it?
Gummi bears, tail spin, darkwing duck... There is so much still love those old cartoons and play them for my boys all the time. Even the original Mickey Mouse cartoons that use to play Sunday mornings my boys love them! Thanks for memory lane! - Singh2011 183.4 #2311 6-26-13 9:03PMLikeReply

Hey all! My aunt and uncle were thinking about taking my cousin to DL for his birthday (Dec. 4). They were wondering if it will be super crowded because of candlelight, so I told them I would ask the DL experts! Thanks!
it will be busy because its holiday season, but the crowds there for candlelighting will stick mainly to the area around the main street train station. they will hold seats all day. - Pixarprincess 544.5 #419 11-2-12 9:48AMLikeReply
You cousin and I share the same bday. Yay! I go every year on that day. In my experience the first week of December is pretty slow. Last year we didn't wait more than 10 mins for any attraction. Not too sure how candelight will affect the crowds but last year I was there on the sat before too and the crowds didn't pack in until it got closer to start time. Either way a crowded Bday at Disneyland is better than being anywhere else. Happy Bday to your cousin and have a great time. - PopcornYeti 378.6 #642 11-2-12 10:04AMLikeReply

Totally do-able with a little help from friends. Even without, as long as you think ahead. Take a good double stroller or a stroller and a carrier. Utilize longer dark rides to feed the baby and don't set your ride expectations high, know that you will be riding the attractions without a height requirement. Also, have snacks and water bottles handy to avoid lots of trips back and forth to stores. I find with a baby and a toddler one of my best tricks is to keep an exciting and unfamiliar toy for your older child so you can distract them when you need to pay extra attention to the baby. And most importantly, take it easy! You won't see it all and your sanity is most important. I rode the Little Mermaid for two hours straight because that's what Cannon wanted to do, the baby could nap in the carrier and I got a chance to cool off and recoup. And the kicker was that I really enjoyed that two hours! - cynDOLEwhip 1175.7 #168 10-27-12 12:33PMLikeReply
