Wonderful World of Disney is on! The game plan. Didn't know WWOD was still around. i'm not much of a TV watcher especially not a local channel watcher.

Just looked at econo lodge-maingate. Has anyone stayed there before? Comfortable? Safe? Noisy? Thanks a bunch.
I have stayed there. Nice, clean nothing fancy. - WishIWereThere   332.8 #854 8-8-12 9:16PM Like  Reply
Not looking for anything fancy anyways. We're just going to sleep and shower there anyways. I just don't want stained sheets or bugs. Hubby wants to get the whirlpool room. Shoooot I'll use it for my feet and back. - dolewhipper  7.5 #15261 8-8-12 9:37PM
make sure you put a little bleach in and run the jets...those jets are prone to serious bugs...and thats at any hotel! - Minnis2Society  382.4 #686 8-8-12 9:39PM

We had an unfortunate event occur which made us have to cancel our room before it bounces our bank account. This was very uncalled for and came from left field. Our trip is still on though, yay! We just have to literally wait til the day   More...
Keep in mind as amazing as it is to have an ap, each future trip is going to cost $$. Plan accordingly. We have been going once a month for about 2-3 days each time, there are 3 of us and it costs us average $800 each time (hotel, gas, food). Just make sure you are ready for that type of commitment. (I'm not trying to offend you or lecture you, you've mentioned not being able to afford Disneyland before). I have seen those who have gotten 'ap blinders' on and don't think about the future financial aspect. I'm sure you will have a wonderful trip with AP's or with hoppers. - Linzee   2148.4 #92 8-6-12 10:58PM Like(6)  Reply
I totally see where you're coming from (my previous posts) but we can afford it now. I don't mean that in a snotty way. My hubby finally got that 100% rating we've been waiting on. We weren't even going to make the trip until it happened, and it did! I thank you for pointing out that concern. And with the AP we wouldn't really have to stay at a hotel every time we went up there because my sister lives not too far away. I'm just kind of excited right now because he hadn't said no. - dolewhipper  7.5 #15261 8-6-12 11:06PM
Right on, I hope everything works out for you guys and please be sure to post some pics when you are there.👍. - Linzee  2148.4 #92 8-7-12 8:32AM
I live about 45 minutes away and only get hotels twice a year, but go about once a month, and even on our day trips we never leave without spending at least $100 - and half of the time we pack sandwiches. Although having an AP is an amazing experience, it's only part of the expenses unfortunately. That being said, I'm not trying to talk you out of it AT ALL. We will likely be renewing in November even though we are pinching pennies, it's not something we are willing to give up. Just be realistic about future expenses in you decision. Good luck! :) - DaisyDork   198.7 #2176 8-6-12 11:13PM Like(1)  Reply

Do you still have access to MWR ticket sales? The military has the AP at the old prices still. I just got Premium for $498. You have to pay all up front but you save a lot! - emnldsmom   370.2 #720 8-7-12 10:23AM Like  Reply
Don't know what mwr is. We don't for military rates :( he's just a regular disabled vet, I don't know how any vet is regular tho. And the reason we're going for the AP is that we don't have the funds right now. We save more in the long run. - dolewhipper  7.5 #15261 8-7-12 11:32AM
yeah we vets kind of get screwed. we don't get a discount for being vets...only active and retired ( 20yrs ) get military discount. I am a disabled vet myself, and hubby did 10 yrs of service.Congrats ( i guess) on getting his disability rating...still fighting for mine after almost 30 years. waiting for my hearing. - MyEeyore  229.3 #1778 8-7-12 11:42AM

Yay! Hubby surprised me with 3 day Hoppers! I kept telling him one park one day to save a little, but he refuses to listen. Then he says he booked a kud suite at the portafino or something, I've never heard if it. Any opinions on that one  More...
I have stayed at the Portifino many times, and thought it was fine. The walk was a bit longer than from somewhere like the HoJo, but not bad at all. The kid's suite is nice, two rooms separated by a French door. Each room has its own tv. The kids' room has a microwave and refrig if I remember correctly, as well as a bunk bed and small table. Nothing super fancy, but clean and safe and staff was friendly. Also, it's Labor Day weekend (and Half Marathon), so hotels are filling up and more expensive. I say stay there and your husband planned well. Good for him! - PrincessKristin   780.8 #300 8-5-12 8:25PM Like(2)  Reply
for a breather just go to animation studios, but please, keep your shoes on... - Radius   502.7 #498 8-5-12 7:19PM Like  Reply
when I say "breather" I mean he needs a long time out because he's agrophobic with anxiety and ptsd. (disabled vet) so that means he needs to be alone in his room. That's why I told him to book close on harbor. I should have told him not farther than katella lol, not like he would have listened... - dolewhipper  7.5 #15261 8-5-12 7:32PM
hmmm maybe he could ask for a lie down at a nurse station? those have always been quiet. any cms know if that is allowed? - Radius  502.7 #498 8-5-12 8:25PM
Just a heads up; not only is it Labor Day weekend but it's the same weekend as the DL 1/2 marathon so there will be more people there from out of town & street closures around the resort in the am of the 2nd. - pixiedreamer   231.5 #1749 8-5-12 8:23PM Like  Reply
Ugh! I thought it was labor day weekend, I told him it was. I wont say again what his problem is he said its after the 6th. (???). But also the marathon? Puhleese! Lol now I have a good reason to tell him to book somewhere else and earlier. Maybe we can do this together this time. - dolewhipper  7.5 #15261 8-5-12 8:34PM
All passes except Premium are blocked Sat and Sun, so that should help. - PrincessKristin  780.8 #300 8-5-12 8:39PM
Portifino is not bad. Close to park. I to am a combat vet and really like to take a break mid day to decompress. Hope you have a great time. We actully leave in 8 days. Every single time we have used these tickets($99 3 day hoppers), which is about 10 times now, we have been asked for the purchasers ID on the first use. They put the last name of the person on the ticket, so the spouse or member has to be there. My sister went to use hers and the lady accidentally put my parents name instead of her husband that is also military. The required my parents to come back before they allowed her in. This was in June. They only checked on the first use. Can your husband or you buy tickets through MWR? - emnldsmom   370.2 #720 7-26-12 9:52PM Like  Reply
I doubt it BC he's 100% I/U without P - dolewhipper  7.5 #15261 7-26-12 10:09PM
If the service member buys the ticket at.the park, with all guests there, (they ask for the specific names so they can print it on the ticket.)he/she doesnt have to be present at park entry. and have until september. If u buy it from the base IT office, the service.member gas to be at.the first entry....I just.bought tickets for my parents this past 4th of july. :) I didnt have to be there when they entered - Jfigg23   257.8 #1424 7-26-12 10:01PM Like  Reply

You did the right thing by getting it checked out. Chest pain is not something to mess with. Although it was most likely due to anxiety, it could have been much worse. Take it easy. - ScooterMike   1963.0 #103 7-25-12 9:31AM Like  Reply

At City Hall you can ask for a Guest Assistance Card. It will allow him to use the wheelchair/fast pass/single rider line depending on his needs. They will ask a series of questions to determine which access would be the best for him. They don't need a doctors note because of HIPPA but they just want to make sure no one is abusing the GAC. I hope you enjoy your trip. Remember to stop and soak in the magic. :-) - Armenda   1186.0 #186 7-23-12 11:29AM Like(6)  Reply

Watch out for the fireworks, loud noises (parades), Fantasmic, World of Color. They all have sent my friend who also has PTSD into relapse episodes. Also those are times and areas with a ton of people in a very close proximity. We bring ear plugs for him to filter the noise. He wears them at all times. Make sure the GAC says ok to use an alternate entrance. - MeridasHair   346.5 #794 7-23-12 2:05PM Like  Reply
