I'd read here about the Matterhorn shaped tree in Frontierland. Was waiting for fireworks Saturday (which never happened) and realized, where's the Matterhorn?!? Bit hard to tell in the dark, but it's to the right of the picture.

Tried the muffuletta sandwich at Cafe Orleans tonight. Good sandwich, and the chips are great. But it is a bit spicy, and a bit pricey at $19.99 before passholder discount.
That sounds a bit spicy pricy for that little sandwich, thanks for letting us know.  - MadameLeota   4203.8 #35 2-6-16 11:08PM Like(1)  Reply

Bummer on the olives, Dave; that's one of my favorites, black or green. And it's funny on Pizza Port; back when it opened in 1995, it was a welcome improvement to Disneyland cuisine. Says something about what the rest of the park has done. 😊 - redsoxcarlos  2529.4 #56 2-8-16 7:08PM

Harper Goff contributed so much to Disneyland, but a lot for Adventureland and Frontierland. Legend has it that when talking about the route for the Jungle Cruise, they were trying to figure out where to start digging and the scale of the river and such. Goff took a stick and dragged it all around the dirt and said, ok, that's it. Start digging.  He was also the production designer on "Calamity Jane" in which he built a saloon for the film. Walt loved it so much, he wanted Goff to build it for his park and today, that's the Golden Horseshoe, full scale to the film. He also contributed to some of the original concept art for the park. The window says Banjo Lesson because Goff played the banjo and was often seen playing with the Firehouse 5 Plus 2 band on Main Street.  - BaseballMickey_CM   7605.9 #11 12-14-15 11:04AM Like(1)  Reply

Here's another Throwback Thursday from a family visit in the 90s; I think this was in '95 when we saw Fantasmic. Back in those days, my premium pass let me park on what is now the plaza between parks!

Cool , they probably need to increase ticket prices because so much is opened. Since roa  water is being drained it makes sense. The waters of roa  feeds into other areas including jungle cruise and serves as a natural water flow and filter. Although rumors have it that they are trying to dam up near the front so they can at least have the areas around but railroad to splash with water but are concerned with earthquake safety, it would make sense to close jungle cruise because of the water issues.  - pikarich   5235.2 #23 11-6-15 7:45AM Like(1)  Reply

There is a great piece on the LA Times website about visiting the parks solo. Don't have a link, but the author was Todd Martens. One experience I shared - having friends tell me "they are watching you". One I haven't had; cast members   More...
